I have my x360 for party-gaming only. In fact, thats the only gaming I do nowadays, simple havent got time for any other games.
Guitar Hero is damn fun - especially when you are a few friends hanging out
.Cant wait for rock band.

MY biggest impression is that BIS should really look and learn from Crytek. I mean honestly it's so ridiculous, I am running;E6600
2GB DDR2 800
8800GTS 320
Here I am with most of the settings on high (only textures and shaders on medium) in the middle of a freaking jungle with vegetation everywhere all fully self shadowed and having a massive shootout that includes destroying trees and such. It's looking beautiful, running smooth and my jaw is on the floor.
Now I am in ArmA looking at a single bush on normal settings and my fps is 15

I think you hit the nail
.No, make an ARMA island the size and density as the Crysis island and you'll get as good if not better performance. I'm enjoying Crysis but the jungle is nothing more than a closed in valley or just about 10m deep into the jungle before you get a steep hill you can't climb that breaks your viewdistance so you can run a high FPS.
I'll be a believer once I see large open landscapes in this engine.
Nevertheless I am getting better framerates in crysis than out on open ocean in ArmA with no visible land.
If programmed really well, the ArmA engine wouldn't care about objects longer than your viewdistance away - yet it does.

I prefer to maintain a belief in the inherent goodness of humanity, though clouded at times by false indoctrination from those who wish afflict others with their own personal self-induced misery. Whether you chose to pursue an optimistic course of life is up to you, it's a nice sunny day out today.
It is indeed a nice sunny day today and I will be out to enjoy it shortly, unlike some that are forever stuck indoors! Wow did my last post really sound that depressing!? ... LOL!
I was merely getting the point across about political realities not that I am forever depressed by them! FFS I live a fulfilling and enjoyable life, I make my own way through it and get out of it what I want, always have, always will. I certainly don't need any pity or guidance from my academic juniors!!

You sure need it at times, though

It is a whole other discussion, but I feel sorry for you...

So long as Placebo doesn’t see it as ‘Spam’ then you’ll be just fine! Otherwise it will receive a very special blessing!

Seriously though the methyl bromide explanation that Espectro hastily dug up doesn’t explain that much of this story. It might be somewhat relevant in the supermarket incidents but nowhere else. It also fails to explain why the air samplers did not detect it.
Hmmm! Sounds familiar; a frightening scenario hastily debunked by a petrified and disbelieving populous! Don’t bother to investigate it fully, just find a halfhearted explanation that vaguely explains part of a few incidents then quickly move on!

Well, the problem with methyl bromide (bromomethane) is, that if only exposed slightly an hour or so, you cannot detect in a human body wether or not it was exposed to it. If the persons were affected over a longer period of time, it could be detected using urine sample scanning for bromid (which bromomethane breaks down into at first). But I doubt any such samples were taking from the victims, as that isn't normal procedure - especially if they thought it was something else at first.
I, for obvious reasons, cannot tell you which scanning methods were used at that super market (or any other of those areas), but a very known method, is called the VOST Field analysis (which as the name implies, is a test outside the laboratory).
Although this test is a standard test (although with several variances), it has shown that, among other similar gases, methyl bromide is not always detected in air using this method. While this COULD explain why it wasn't detected at the supermarket, it doesn't explain why several gas leaks were present (as you stated).
It is indeed unacceptable that the victims haven't gotten any information on the leak, which is also why we are sitting here guessing, but I am not convinced at all that some conspiracy is present. I do fully understand why this story fills allot on your mind, Troska - that is natural. But seriously - 9 (unexplainable) gas leaks on a global scale... That is not that uncommon as you might think, and as earlier stated - it can simply be a mix between human made gas leaks and natures gas leaks (which also happens regularly). It isn't that uncomming seeing dead birds.
What I am trying to say is, that if you really want to dig up 8 cases of gas-leaks in a day searching the worlds local newspapers - it's not that hard to find, and certainly not that puzzling. I am pretty sure the responsible agencies in your region could have handled the things better. But incompetence doesn't equal conspiracy

Red Kite, it's not that I don't wanna investigate it fully, it's just that i'm convinced that there is nothing more than bad management in this, and therefor not worth the time and effort you COULD put into this. I rather want to concentrate on REAL issues such as global warming
- and not on conspiracies.Mr. Troska, I hope you will be able to get this thing outa ya head, as it probably fills allot on ya mind.

Btw.
This posts looks a 'bit' like this 6 months old thread

Edit, and this:

Lol, is that you spamming the world wide web for a bit of conspiracy fame?
rofl!

Oh, and this might be your explanation (found in one of ya threads):
Hey Lin.
This post slipped under my radar, thanks for being so comprehensive.
Perhaps another angle you could look at this, are the variety of different food preservation techniques used in transportation of food. In particular: the use of methyl bromide as a preservative for transportation for the mass foods found in supermarkets.
I met someone a while back who worked for a chemical company, who specialises in food transportation and preservation. Some of the methods he described sounded completely alien to me; the most relevant is the use of methyl bromide gas.
Those of you that know a bit of chemistry would be thinking now, methyl bromide and food? This guy is crazy. Bromide, a halogen is a strong irritant and oxidiser: very toxic.
But it is a little known secret that Methyl bromide fumigation is used as a preservative from fresh fruit to preserved meats to prevent spoilage. I know for a fact its used in Australia, according to my chemical engineer guy above. I could get you some emails from a university if you want to investigate this lead.
Just a thought.
Check out this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Methyl-Bromide-Issue-C-Bell/dp/0471955213
Perhaps you should investigate some of the Australian companies that provide the infrastructure, and chemicals to transportation companies in regards to safety procedures etc.
I think just like the banking system, if people knew what goes behind their food there would be a revolution before tomorrow! Perhaps why its kept quiet. Just investigate what goes into your meat...But thats offtopic.
(PS if it was ammonia, you could TELL truuust me. No reason to keep large volumes of ammonia in a supermarket . Stupid excuse).
--- End qoute.

Thank you Joseph Troska for your efforts in presenting those news items and past articles. I at least took the time to read some of them and have sympathy for your opinion. The reason that there will be no further investigations or that any organisation global or local will ever get discovered for secret trails is not so much that the secrecy laws are so well enforced as much as it is the general scepticism of most people to ever believe that this sort of thing could ever possibly happen in ‘our’ time! The last few posters are sentiment to this!It is the reason why our countries have such things as 'official secrets acts' in the first place. It doesn't surprise me at all to learn of your findings. It will as you say however get brushed under the carpet like all the others only to emerge 50 years down the road to the annoyance of our angry children! History will just keep repeating itself over and over, and those who will rather say 'poppycock' to it all then take a look at history! OH! But it never happens in 'our' time does it?
This one could of course just be one big natural coincidence of some unexplained natural phenomena, and that is what is probably best for us to all believe! Most people don't believe in UFO's either, even those that have seen them themselves! How could anything that we cannot explain or be willing to accept possibly exist?!!
That is just the way things are! Don't come in here with any fancy stories or even fancier explanations for them and expect an easy ride!!
It is not so much, that we don't think it wont happen in 'our' time, I just think that IF it happend, i'm not naive enough to think that this thread will do anything about it
.Atleast I live in a country where I trust the government not to make any public tests on me without my knowledge. If you guys don't do it, I sugest you leave from your current habitat - I know I would.
-
Hmm, let me think...
Hey, i've come up with an answer!
Maybe they don't know what caused it!?
Gases can be very hard to trace. Especially if tracing equipment isn't there until a couple hours after exposure, the gas can be completely gone - also from your body. Effects to the body can substain a long time, though - even though the gas is gone.
-
Yes, the reason why is because it makes little sense to import lower quality 3d models and skins of key aircrarft into Armed Assault, when just waiting a little longer will bring aircraft 3d models & textures with military flight sim quality. In addition, there are enhancements available to create and/or customize HUD displays.
Hey mate.
A little offtopic I know.
How is seawolves doing? I am a former 688i hunter killer player from there, and of course also a former SWAF member (back when it was formed in june 2001).
Is janes working on some new software?
-
Just another conspiracy.
I don't think 15 cases of gas-leaks or maybe even some natural occurance is unlike in one day worldwide.
-
How will the targeting and listening for enemy targets be like?
Active/passive sonar simulation? I asked before but that was too early to determine.
-
Maybe have the laserbeam texture be an animation which loops slowly to invisible and then to visible. The keypoint is "slowly". This would generate the effect of smoke coming in infront of the beam and makes it visible to the human eye.
This simplifices it alot. I believe it would take too much work to make it work through semi-transparent objects, and not solid ones. It should be stopped as soon as it hits anything the BI laser designator interprets as solid.
Is it possible to stop drawing an object (laser-beam) whenever you want to using scripts? If not... You can create small bits of the laserbeam and make it be drawn in a straight line, until the nearest object. I am thinking of bits as small as 10 cm. It should also be stopped at some distance, say 150 metres.
So the beam will be divided into 1500 10 cm long laser beam parts when it's longes:
--------------------------------
-------------|House or any other solid object|As mentioned earlier... The small bits would have be animated texture (low resolution), going from almost solid beam to completely invisible (most of the time). This would also give the effect that there are different particles throughout the range.

It makes perfect sense from a tactical perspective. Think about it. Destroy the weapon, it can't be used. Simple. Same with tanks and so on, they'll destroy the tank so it can no longer be used, as sometimes AI will try and get back into a damaged vehicle, so remove the vehicle, they can't get in and kill you with it.I have to agree.
When i get an my friendly AI (humvee) to target an enemy it totally owns it..
Same thing when my team mate sniper (AI) used all its whole round on a jeep with a machine gun mounted on it. he was equiped with a M107..

From a tactical view, it's better to steal a working vehicle, than to destroy it.
No matter what, you don't wanna waste your ammo on an empty m2 post, if the enemy is shooting at you.
-
And whats with the warping/lagging players ? Do have have any solution for it? Or perhaps in ARMA2?Lol...
Yea, why not correct all the bugs, make it stable, add true wildlife and enable multiplayer campaing. And then release it as ArmA2?
Oh wait - that was the feature-list of ArmA.... Now what do we do!?
-
Why do they have to go through the trouble of making this thing walk on four legs when a simple robotic tracked vehicle could do the same thing.Because it is very slow, and therefor an easy target.
-
Yeo, LFS rocks... we had a BI community team ealier... what happend to that?

Global warming is a political propaganda strategy by the democrats to regain the white house.lol

They have comparable programs in the U.K., but it's still not financially viable. However, I do think it's worth keeping an eye on.
I think there is room for the efficiency of these panels to improve and also the cost to come down as they become more mass market and subsidised.
But right right now, it's still a joke.
As long as I get a better return keeping the money in the bank, it's not a serious concern.
Even with a 5% a year of your installation cost subsidy(assuming you can trust your government not to raise taxes for 20 years in a row), that only takes you to a 9% return on your money.
I'm used to 30 or 40% average a year. I can't afford to make so little. I'd have to go back to work.
In terms of protection, I think they would actually protect my rooves to some extent.
Lower the amount of moss growing, protect the tiles from blowing off, no need to repaint the corrugated iron underneath etc.
What are you talking about`?
He will profit within 5 years compared to having them in the bank.

On my horizon I have a 19th century windmill, next to a 20th century radio mast. I feel a 21st century windmill would add to the scene.Five or ten however would just ruin it.
Since Windmills are so heavily subsidised by the government, I wouldn't object to erecting one on my land.
It doesn't exactly look very nice. And it's not quiet or in keeping with my 12th century theme. A blot on the landscape.
But free money is free money.
On the whole, I am pro energy diversity.
Wind energy doesn't hurt, but it is very expensive.
Coal and gas are better. Cheap and reliable.
@Jeftec, we don't have the technology to provide "cheap clean" electricity.
The reason we don't all use cheap clean electricity, is because we don't have that option.
(There is no global conspiracy of pollution lovers all willing to pay extra on the off chance of killing the planet).
Wind generated electricity is not only very expensive, but it is unreliable.
If it's not a windy day, the town near you doesn't generate any electricity at all.
Haven't you noticed the substantial increases to you electricity bills in the last few years? Cheap energy is out of fashion.
And your greedy government, is emptying your pockets but not to repress wind power...... to subsidise it.
Nuclear is another very expensive form of electricity generation.
Private industry will not sign up to either without governmental sponsorship.
If it was "cheap", they would.
Nuclear is neither cheap nor clean (although carbon neutral) and wind power is only clean not cheap.
I like Hydro electric. Obviously I wouldn't feel that way if it was my village they were going to drown.
I'm all for saving the global enviroment, but not at the expense of my local one.
Domestic solar panels are a total comedy fantasy of the hippy set. They don't generate at night, and in the daytime only generate enough to power a lightbulb.
They can't for example power a kettle to make you a cup of tea. Or run your fridge to preserve your foodstuffs.
If you didn't buy the panels and instead left the same money in the bank, the intrest off it would pay your yearly electricity bills and you could drink as much tea as you liked, watch television, have hot showers, power tools, lightbulbs that work at night....etc etc etc.
They have a solar power station at Edwards airforce base. Solar powerplants are cost effective in equatorial zones.
(The windfarms all over the mountain ranges there are pretty impressive also. The one on the M4 at Heathrow surrounded by trees is terminally stupid however, as are all the ones at the bottom of those hills near Northhampton, fashionable.... but stupid).
You just need to store the energy - for example my pumping water into high ground, and use turbines to generate electricity whenever there is no wind.

-
Wind power all the way, i live in a small town in England, we have a wind farm in the next town and it is doing wonders at producing large volumes of CLEAN energy. Ask yourself the question of why arent we using 100% clean fuel sources in the world now? We have the technology
Greedy governments filling pockets instead of thinking about future generations.
Exactly.... Atleast my country agree in this point - which is also why Denmark have no nuclear power plants and have forced the Swedish plant, Barsebäck to closure.
Dwarden - again, do you have any sources to back up your claims, or is your points something you dreamed up yourself?
Cheers

As stated earlier...... Where will the waste be in 3000 years? Will 'terrorists' have used them as targeting practice? Will we still be servicing them?
That's like asking tthe people around Ramses to secure his grave, and pass his final words generation through generation to us - and that we woulæd have his final words non-polluted.
Do you REALLY trust the human race that much?
I don't - just look at history, it's pretty obvious.
i guess You missed the point where i said the 'waste' is reusable in future reactors (timeframe 50-250y)
after that the waste is radioactive only for sub 50y
also i would like to see terrorist attacking underground, well defended by active army forces storage deposite ...
as someone who knows how nuclear fusion works, how our plants works i stand behind it's clean and effective
or show me another cheap and effective
(from construction to mainteance) source of 2000MW

capable work 99% of 365 days (1% counted for checkup mainteance)
Nuclear energy is not clean. And accidents WILL happen. I would also like to see what military can stand guard and protect storage facilities. No western army are THAT succesfull. Just look at how pathetic the coallition forces are in current affairs.
Another, more important reply to your post. Do you have any source to back up your claims? That the radioactive waste is depleeted within 300 years? If so, please post them here.
As a medical and chemical engineer student, I know how a nuclear reactor works, and I also know how biological material reacts to large levels of radiation. As you mention, the waste can be either stored as fuel waste or recycled or reprocessed. In the united states, the waste is directly stored into the ground after it losses the most heat and radiation from the decay. That is why US has so much waste, compared to other parts of the planet. In Europe the isotopes are recycled and used again in other aspects, but the radiation doesn't decay from this - as the isotopes remains. In Europe, the nuclear waste is, however, also sent to reprocessing which means that it can be used as fuel again.
Again, the radiation doesn't decay - it simply decreases the amount of radioactive fuel neccessary to maintain production of power. Furthermore, 3% of the waste cannot be either recycled nor reprocessed and ends directly in the ground (after initial storage for about 50 years).
It takes several thousand years of isolation for this waste to be safe again.

this poll is quite weird ...i'm realistic person so i consider wind mills as good alternative IF it's worth build it (price / watt / year)
- clean source
(wind, sea waves, water, solar cells/mirrors(heat), nuclear, geotermal plants)
* yeah maybe You shocked i consider nuclear plants as clean but theirs polution can be stored and reused in future plants ...
- polution source
(coal, oil, gas plants)
coal is worst as not just dust ends in air but radioactive material within coal too (contrary to nuclear plants lol)
(irony is that biggest ash dumps can be now mined for uranium)
- effectivity
this is very tricky as lot of these so so called clean sources like windmills or solars cells based needs huge resources to be built and then theirs lifespan is too short and mainteance too high
- price
not everyone can afford newest types of windmills or solar cells
- unstability
tho being clean to surrounding yet dangerous nuclear plants are (human factor, technical error) that's why such plants deserve highest investments into technolgies security and staff
another dangerous class are water plants as dams ageing or may break due to natural disasters
