ROFL, all hype aside?! HAHAHA

Isn't it obvious? Because a car, alcohol, screwdrivers, chairs, motorcycles, lamps, guitars, clothes, tape etc. isn't designed to kill. Although they DO have the ability to kill other people, their function which they are designed for is not to kill/hurt other people. Jeez, this is like talking to a kid

I completely agree with you Baddo. I will keep out of this discussion from now on, though - as some people inhere simply fail to see our points, and goes down to the level of personal insulting instead of facing the reality. I give up, guys. I would never want to own a gun, and you can't change that. If you want a gun, it's your choise - just stay out of me and my familys life, please. Are you saying that you would be afraid of someone that had a gun, or would be worried about them going crazy? If we ban guns we should also ban cars. You do not need them and there are very deadly, much more deadly than a gun. No knifes, you dont need those either and can be used to kill a lot of people. only chefs can have them and they have to be registered with the government. Only the goverment can have big trucks. The trucking industry must be taken over by the state. Big trucks can kill a lot of people. What would happen if a truck driver making deleries went crazy while driving next to a school. Any truck drivers whishing to keep their jobs must go through background checks and pyschological exams. Forks should also be banned there too dangerous and you dont even need them. Same thing with baseball bats, cricket bats, golf clubs, etc. None of those should be legal, the are lethal weapons. They were not designed to kill but they do it pretty good. No dangeorous tools like screwdrivers or saws. Im sure there are a bunch of other dangerous thing that we should ban for the saftey of all. Can anyone agree to that? These discussions are always hard. Most europeans think us American gun owners are crazy and rednecks. Which is one of the stupidest sterotypes ever. I just think to my self while watching someone on youtube call someone a redneck that has a weapon that costs over 15,000 dollors, arent rednecks supposed to be poor? And a lot American gun owners think europeans have a victim mentallity and the men are feminzed in great numbers. We just can't see eye to eye and probably never will. I just wish that the anit gun people in europe would stop trying to make me helpless. Also what do you think about the people in Alaska who need guns for protection aganst wild life? Would you just make them a snack or mauling waiting to happen? I do not even validate that a proper answer. It is hard not to just ignore you, as all your points are simply hypocritical arguments blown out of proportions. If you still cannot see what I mean, then please answer me this: Can you drive your kids to school in your car? Can you drive your kids to school on your rifle? We are not talking black and white here, mate. What you are explaining soudns like some weird science fiction with no liberty what so ever. But if you truely wanted your liberty, you wouldn't live in a country with so many laws. You wouldn't live in a country where you should be afraid of accidently tripping someone, since he/she might fall and then sue your arse for everything youve got. If that is what you call freedom. Fine, just take ya guns and defend yaself - while being sued to pieces. It just seems like you guys live in some cheese-dome in ya own brainwashed world with no opportunity to look onto yourself objectively. But please, if you want a nice discussion - start finding some real arguments, and not these fairytale pushups you seem so fond of. Cause this is a waste of my time.

Kil, did you check out the data storage thing? Please consider importing it, so we can have true mmorpg servers for arma. http://armedassault.eu/forum/viewforum.php?forum_id=35 -

I just played a session where all player experienced something weird with the time-cycle. It just continuasly shifted through day and night randomly. Like every 40 seconds it would be day for about 5 seconds, then night again. This happend for all players connected. -
First of all Id like to thank your country for kicking some communist ass in the winter war. It is good that your police protect you, but how would you feel if you knew that they did not have to protect you and could just wait intell everyone is dead before going into the building to investigate you and everyones around you dead body. Would you want to have a weapon of some kind? Also a lot of Americans do not trust their government or their police(not all of them most are good) for good reason. The military would probably be split in the case of a total gun ban. There have been many infringments on our rights, not just weapons. I have a question for the Europeans here. Do you believe that self defense is a right? And, What will happen first, you and your loved ones dieing or the police showing up? What if the burgler is between you and your phone? Of course self defence is a right. But I would rather have all my stuff robbed, than put me or my familys life in danger. As I would give my stuff the the burglar, and have my insurance company cover it afterwards. Not that anyone WOULD rob me, let alone with a gun. You see, the only armed roberies around here is in banks or in a jewelry store. You hardly ever here of one any other place - and if you do, it's just with a soft gun that looks like a real gun.

Have you considered including arma database storage so the servers can store playerscores even though mission is restarted/server crash? Check it out at: http://armedassault.eu/forum/viewforum.php?forum_id=35 Anyway, I enjoyed this very much awesome job, mate! -

It doesn't seem like 'theelite' have even tried 'elite'? Armed Assault is a very open software invironment - any console game isn't. That is the major difference between the two. To mention a couple. Addons AI scripting It's two totally different universes, mate -
hahaha Sputnik. You make me laugh He was sarcastic - no need to get your bloodpressure upthere . And you are right - your case does indeed weakens when acting like that. I wont comment further of your posts, as they include no further context. But as a sidenote, the shooter in this event had a clean record - and so has most of the attackers in these particular 'scholar bezerks'. As for Michael Moore - well, he does seem to tweak and manipulate most of the stuff he comes by to make a few headlines. I haven't seen the particular movie reffered to, but I find it pretty weird that a bank gives out a weapon to people just to get them as customers. Regardless of any background checks - I hardly think that was mr. moore's point in that movie. It was rather to point out the irony of a bank handing out weapons to their customers
-
Dallas response was that having the right to own a hunting rifle is the middleroad between total gun-ban and the gun rampage you have in the US and many other third world countries. Anything more than that is insane - so in that case, no! We will not find a middle road between sanity and insanity. I just think the europeans doesn't allow official complete insanity
-
Surely Americans understand that we now live in a different time than when the ammendments were written - and that they can be subject to change. Baddo I agree 100% but the second ammendment would simply be there for the sake of tradition - which I sadly think the Americans isn't ready for.

But Amiga is clearly the better one -
I wonder why all these pro-gun debaters inhere always read our posts, multiply our points by a hundred, and then defend themself against these newly extremely rational (and illusive) points supposedly made by us? It's getting tiredsome, really. As people already pointed out (but you pro-gun types seem to ignore) several times - noone believes that strict gun control will solve all problems in the universe, but it can soften some of the symptoms as the one we sadly saw in Virgina. Another point - strict gun control doesn't equal gun-ban. In Europe it is allowed to have hunting rifles and use them in the hunting season - in the forest! To aqquire one, you have to take both theory and practical firearm and animal recognission tests, though. Please do not multitude small content of my posts, and the disregard the rest. It makes me sound like a hipocryt, which I do not feel I am (but who am I to judge that, anyway?). In Europe we just simply cannot see why you would want to take a firearm with you when shopping, learning, walking, driving etc. I know there is a huge gap between our societies, but sometimes I get surprised that we call ourself part of the same western world.

Is the first part directed at me? If it the part is directed at me, I wasn't talking about myself. And, if you wanted to know, I don't carry an concealed firearm. Change in what way? Again, simply having strict gun laws doesn't fix the problem. You are seeing an correlation with those countries but is it causation? Russia has shown us that it isn't causation. Russia has very strict gun laws and, yet, they nearly had 23,500 murders in 2006. The United States had 16,692 murders in 2005 (2006 numbers are not in yet). Year after year, Russia has more murders than the United States. More people live in the United States too by at least hundred million. Clearly, this shows that simply having strict gun laws is not the answer. So, what is it then? If you found the answer, you would probably get an award. No, it was directed at sputnik - which is why I quoted him, and not you. Secondly - I never said stricker gun-control would solve the problem solely. Infact, I said quite the opposit on p. 2: The thread is pretty long, and alot of people is discussing this - so I can understand it's hard to figure out who said what Edit: To answer your question: Where do you get those numbers from - are they from all over Russia? Including many non-civilised areas in Russia? Another thing - even though they DO have gun-control in Russia, I doubt it is very effective, and believe that many areas outside the larger cities people have guns in Russia. Russia is also in alot of conflicts etc. which I would suspect also take some casualties. And a final note. Russia have had a pretty rough times the last many years, and I would be so rude as to say that their infrastructure is definately not the same standard as I expect from my Danish Government, and I would never compare my country with russia - especially in matters like these. That makes us different, I suppose.

And people were able to kill people with other weapons besides guns for centuries as well. Where there is a will there is a way. What makes you think they'll obey the law and not use a gun any way if they are going to rage, or worse a bomb? You sir are paranoid. I for one don't look over my shoulder in fear that some one is going to shoot me. Though Balschoiw could probably mention a situation that has me looking over my shoulder lately do to some threats I received. However I don't believe the group of thugs I live by are willing to shoot me they just want to beat the crap out of me for some reason, maybe take my wallet I don't know, they are punks and probably drink too much. Long of the short I don't fear being shot at, there is no reason to. I have more tangible real problems to fear. If people arent afraid of being shot at, why carry a gun? //Edit I know you cannot be seen as the average American, but you bring yourself into a discussion of the general aspect of this issue. Also, Yes - America is different than Western countries - but that doesn't mean that it cannot change (unless you want it to be this criminal of course).

Oh please, are you trying to suggest I'm a suicidal murderer? I haven't even been in a mild scuffle in the past decade. The last time I even struck some one with my fist out of anger I was 12, over half my life ago. As for suicidal, nah.  I speak in jest of espectro but I do find it disturbing that he and you seem to have one track minds when it comes to guns. There is a symptom in psychiatry called projection which is a case where some one "projects" their mental problems onto others. For example when espectro suggest that any one with a gun is going to murder some one or kill them selves he is actually projecting what he believes he himself would do if in possesion of a weapon. That is why in a way I kind of worry about him.  When I see a police officer or a citizen who legaly owns a gun I do not see a distinction, both are perfectly sane individuals who I have no reason to fear. Espectro however believes the individuals are "sick" and dangerous, that they will snap at any moment and harm him. Honestly I could not live life as espectro does, it's irrational and just down right creepy.  Espectro, no one is out to get you and most of all "guns" are not out to get you.  Christ you make it out like a gun is some sort of alien brain leeche that posseses a mans mind forcing him to kill and murder. Please stop putting words into my mouth. I have never said everyone who owns a gun is about to murder other people. I have myself been in the military, and I do not have some kinda weird paranoia towards guns. But they belong on the shooting range or in the forest hunting. They do not belong in school or on the street. Yes, you have the right to self defence, but that's the whole problem with the states - When others have guns, and it's 'pretty normal' that criminals use them, you have to have them for self defence. Why not just avoid them entirely? And don't give me the crap that it isn't possible. Others have shown it is possible to ban guns on the street with success and therefor lowering the amount of people that are shot. Latest it was Australia.

Hi all I CTD after 1-15 minutes of multiplayer gaming. I have no addons installed. This is the error message I get: --- AppName: arma.exe AppVer: 1.5.0.5136 ModName: arma.exe ModVer: 1.5.0.5136 Offset: 001809d6 --- My specs: Windows XP SP2 AMD64 3800+ X2 2*Nvidia 7600GT (Only one is on, since ArmA supposely doesn't support SLI) 2*1 gb Dual RAM Any ideas? I have no other problems in the following games and programs: Fear, Black&White2, Civilisation4, Counterstrike:Source, The Ship, Day of Defeat source. The game runs pretty smooth up until it halts a second, then crashes to desktop with the above error message. I cannot possibly believe you guys! It's like living by the motto: 'Kill your neighbour before he kills you'. It's completely insane! If you are incapable of handling any situation without the need of a gun, maybe you should seek a scrink. And to those 'hard areas' you mention: If you meet a group of three tough guys in the middle of Chicago, and you pull a gun - what in the world do you think is gonna happen?!? No only will you get robbed, you will also be shot dead on the spot - right after you killed one of them. You can brag all you want about security and freedom. But what is freedom if you have to walk around with your gun!? What's next? Strap on explosives, just so noone will harm you afraid of you blowing yaself up!? Jeeeez! I'm sorry if i'm rude, but I just feel this is such a narrowminded aproach to this problem, and it will never solve anything - rather the opposite. Another thing. You tell me you trust all the people at your university. Well, good for you. I must say I don't know many of the 22.000 people going at my university. I do however trust the people I know, and I feel 100% secure, since noone of the people I do not know have any firearms with them into school. Infact, I haven't even heard about anyone being beaten up around campus here for the last 10 years. If you feel more secure with a gun, be free to carry it - but please stay out of Europe!

Someone who got harassed on her or his way to school? Someone who has to work after college? I could think of numerous of reasons. I am not the one who's paranoid. Not blind trust, allthough I have to admit, I know several people who did forgot their phone, wallet, laptop somewhere which were the next day returned by people who found them or were able to pick up their stuff at the lost and found. HAHAHAHAHA Ironsight you are killing me here! Should it be a good idea for a person who gets harrased on his way to school or to work after school to bring a gun!? HAHAHA Sorry to say, Ironsight, you are simply proving our points here, mate. There is seriously something really fecked up with that way of thinking - and I seriously don't hope the American public thinks like that. If your culture do not feel it common sense NOT to bring a gun to school, then I understand why the average American IQ is so much lower than the rest of the western world. (No offense, other American reader - I am of course aware, that you cannot all be this ignorant). Cheers

hehe.. Tried all of those.

The shooter was 23 the drinking age is 21 here. Most states you cannot own a pistol until you are 21, not sure about Virgina however. Woops, always thought it was 18. Btw, how did those Columbine kids got their guns? Illegal, or did legislation change after the shooting? Using your logic I could also say… It's quite simple: Do you want to be able to drink alchohol? If you do, you must accept the fact that sometimes people use that right to kill other people by driving drunk! Driving drunk is not part of your privledge to drink and murder is not part of your right to bear arms. I do accept the fact that drunken people will kill other people sometimes. It might sound weird, but I've made a choice that I want alcohol to be allowed to drink. The result of this is the fact that I risk the change of being killed by a drunk driver. My country made a choice, they are willing to accept the fact that about 50 people get killed by drunk drivers each year, so the rest of the country can drink alcohol. If the USA wants to have the right to carry firearms, the country should also accept the fact that people get killed because of that decision. The question is: How many lives are you prepared to spend each year for your right to carry firearms? In Virginia you can buy weapons as long as you are 18 of age, and have a clean record. That's all it takes. No matter how you put it, I'd rather have it like here in Denmark. 15 years is the legal limit to drink. 18 years is for driving, and you never get to own weapons like those. Only hunting rifles allowed - if you pass the tests.
