    HSO ArmA 3 SLA pack

Some of the alternate uniforms are designed for different environments, so they might look a bit jarring when they're used out of place. If they don't seem to be used, they're probably designed for Terrains where the default schemes would be too out of place (except for 6-Color. That's just there because it's what RACS used to use :p ) MANPADS aren't really done. I do want to replace the Titan with something like a Stinger and the Titan knock-off with something like a Strela. Like I said, none of the "big" launchers are really done, the soldiers just been included for completions sake/as placeholders/to avoid breaking stuff if I remove them. A big addon size is to be expected - it's a big addon! I could maybe offer an alternate version with reduced texture quality (since that's were most of the data is), which would have a smaller file size, say, around half, maybe less, if all the 2048*2048 textures were resized to 1024*1024. I don't know how that would work with the key system, though. (I don't think it'd be an issue - AiA have done something similar with their island pack, and I haven't seen anyone complain about it) Vehicles aren't really my area of expertise, especially with the new PhysX system (I say "new", the games been out for over year now :p , you know what I mean, though). I am considering just doing the textures for some common vehicles (T72s, BMPs, Hinds and so on) so people can use them alongside stuff like AiA or the RDS tank pack.

Thanks :) If it comes to it, I do have access to the Armedassault.info ftp server, but I don't think I'm supposed to use it for stuff like this (I'm not officially a newsposter), and I know there's some issues with disk space there. Armaholic are usually pretty good at getting stuff rehosted without needing to be pestered about it, so it wouldn't surprise me if their team are already on it :p

Today, an successful assault was led on Hill "preliminary release" by a platoon sized element of survivors from the SLAGF 4th Motor Rifles and Tandag Guard. The position has been taken, and we are digging in to prepare for a counterattack by unexpected bug forces. DOWNLOADS; Armaholic: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=26681 Mega: https://mega.co.nz/#!utt3Ubxb!P0DAIEmy63FUifKHFWx0luYtkidT-8jAG6gYarRO7Js (There's a download limit on this, but I don't know what it is. If you can upload or seed this, please consider it. If I wasn't on a watchlist before, I definitely am now... the things I do for my work!) 4Shared: http://www.4shared.com/rar/p7IV8mseba/HSO_A3_SLA_Pack_Pre1-1.html (nb, there's a 3gb download limit per day and 30gb per month - effectively 10 downloads, so please be considerate, if you can mirror this or torrent it, please do. If you can't, don't use this link unless you have to. I'm looking into other options right now.) A few notes: -This is provided unsigned, intended for final beta testing and to actually release something. If you want to use it on a big server, wait until the main release, pencilled in for Monday. -ATGM and MANPADs are really just reskins of the Titan. I would remove them, but right now that's more trouble than it's worth. -The CDF have been completely overhauled to be more ex-soviet. The Western style troops are still in though, they're now "guard" rather than regulars. -Some CDF and NAPA soldiers have a habit of wearing multiple belts. This was initially viewed as a bug, though alternate theories suggest the rise of Japanese media culture in the Green Sea region may be to blame for this fashion trend. -There's clipping with vests and balaclavas. I know what's causing this, but unfortunately fixing it is beyond my abilities. -A lot of GUI pictures are either wrong, missing or both. This is a relatively minor issue, and is going to be what I'll mainly be fixing up until monday. -SLAGF pilots have the wrong vest. I remembered I had to fix this literally half way through uploading it. This has been fixed, but rebuilding the PBO, testing ingame to make sure it hasn't arbitrarily decided to stop working, or I made a stupid typo, rebuilding the .rar, and reuploading is about another 2 hours work, and I'm just opening the door to more feature creep... sorry. -The readme is a bit of a draft for now. And I may have been slightly drunk when I wrote it. Read too heavily into anything written there at your own peril.

Literally 3 things left on my to-do list. Expect a preliminary release (basically an unsigned final beta) sometime this week, and a full release, let's say next Monday. Maybe earlier, if there's no huge bugs, and my computer doesn't explode or anything (it has been making some funny noises recently...)

The 18 Most Suppressed Inventions Ever

None of these conspiracy theories make sense when you consider that the US isn't the only country in the world. Why would the the Kaizer not build a machine that would give him unlimited power? How could Hitler have lost the war if he had advanced alien technology? Why would the Soviet Union not build a weather control device, and use it to hold the world's weather to ransom? Why hasn't China flooded the world's market with cheap hemp biofuel, that also cures cancer?

Progress has been slowed by Steam's automatic updating of the tools. Continually having to set up Buldozer has driven me to madness. I find myself forced to seek council on all my decisions with Lord Fufflebutts, a cyclopian horror from beyond the depths of the Ocean wearing a pink bunnyrabbit onesie. Chocolate Chip: Yes. Tan: Sort of (there's plain tan tanksuits, but not a full set of equipment) Police: Maybe eventually. I do have plans for them, but there's a lot of stuff that needs to be done first.

Something that before now has never been important, and even BIS didn't do it, so... yeah... :p )

There's a bit too much intermixing for that to realistically work (ie, some weapons are used by both the CDF and SLA and the guerillas use a mix of all the conventional forces BDU models). It's a good idea, but ultimately it'd mean either complicating the installation process (which I've learned the hard way is a bad idea :p ) or just having a load of duplicate files (which kinda defeats the point).

The textures are higher resolution, or more accurately, they're the same resolution (2048*2048), but the actual objects on the UVMap are bigger, so they'll look higher resolution ingame. I think that's been in since OFP (it was used for calculating score at the end of scenarios). If it's only been added to the A3 classes in the latest update it's could be used by Zeus, though.

I've been quiet these last few weeks, haven't I? So, funny story, I arbitrarily decided that my BDU model was the worst thing ever and could never be released to the world, and... I scrapped pretty much all of the soldier models. (read: around 50% of all the work I've done over the past few months.) Given how the models were set up beforehand (simply put, every soldier used the same base, save for the dress officers), this means that everything has been broken. But fear not, for I have been taken ill, and therefore am at my most industrious. So I present to you, the new soldier models! (need to fix those boots) ...yeah I know, they look almost exactly the same. I sometimes wonder if I couldn't have spent that time doing something a bit more productive =\ If nothing else, I've got better at using Splendid Camera! (No pictures of the guerillas because I have to redo... er... *counts on fingers*... lots of textures...) On an unrelated note - does anyone know what I need to do to make things work with Zeus, if anything? (tried it in the editor, nothing showed up. not sure if I just didn't set things up properly in the mission or if I need to mess around with configs)

    High Quality Addons Project [HQAP]

So what we want is something like JAM. Some masterlist of "good" addons will just mean you'll have 50-odd slightly better looking AKs which are incompatable with each other.

    CSAT Modification Project

The SSh68 from the sample models pack might work pretty well - swap out the strap and add some widgets from the MICH and you'd have a pretty neat looking piece of kit.

    Rate the third episode!

The actual "meat" of the campaign was the, IMHO, probably the best of all 3 episodes (as in, keeping me up until 3am with "just one more mission"). I feel as though the ending could have been a lot better, though.

    Episode 3, "Game Over" mission

For me, saving is disabled (like in the base missions in the previous episodes), and the normal death scene is simply replaced with a mission over screen (which, strangely enough, you still get the achievement for). I get it's supposed to be an epilogue, but "and then you died, lol" is kind of an anticlimatic ending for a year of waiting :p (or, in my case "and then the game crashed because you need a new computer, lol". But that's a bit too meta for my liking)

...probably? I haven't really looked into hosting yet. Usually I just throw something on whatever free sharing service is hot at the moment and see what happens :p
  16. Back in Farmland, the plan was to make the underground base a separate area on the island, that the elevator teleported you to (similar to how dungeons work in Elder Scrolls/Fallout 3). Since you're using a script you can set the time to night to solve the shadow/fog issues (I don't know if there's a better way to do this in ArmA.3 - there might be). I think with ArmA.3's new lighting it might work quite well. - Admittedly it doesn't help with the AI problems, but I don't think anything's going to help with the AI problems :p

RACS have baseball caps, because that's how they roll. (pretty much only used by royal commandos) I don't want to talk too much about vehicles right now, because I haven't really started them, so what I've got planned probably isn't going to be too indicative of what'll end up being released. Huey's definitely going to be used by RACS, and I'm thinking of a Pandur for the CDF (it'll be different from the Gorgon)

A quick update for today, here's some RACS reservists, with M1 Helmets and SLRs. Gangnam Style! Also, regarding the alternate camo schemes, I've written a script that can change this: into this: (while still respecting the inventory of BDUs/Vests) There'll be one for each of the alternate camos, and probably some kind of Sun Bunnies scheme for the CDF to use on greener islands. Right, Sir! *stops breathing*

Maybe - I want to add "armed civilians" for the guerilla groups, so it'd be very easy to do plain civilians while I'm at it.

Considering it - there's some issues being caused by the way AiA taps into the old games right now (most noticeably it screws up a lot of animations, but I get the feeling this is the "tip of the iceberg"), so I might make a standalone "replacement" for the ArmA.2 classes that doesn't necessarily need AiA to work. (Of course, I'd like to be able to do with the ArmA.1 stuff as well, but the ArmA.1 classes are... difficult... to replace) Yes.

Very close to a preliminary release now - going to try to avoid feature-creep (I'm bad at that... I added a new gun just last evening :p ) and get something to you guys soon-ish. In the mean time, more teasers! Only I guess these aren't really teasing as so much outright showing... Sahrani Theatre The Island of Sahrani was first split through the Treaty of Tordesillas, with the South being under the control of Portugal and the North Spain. The Island's colonial history was somewhat uneventful, save for the occasional bout of Piracy stemming from the nearby island of Porto, until it was brought under Imperial rule in the late 1700s. The first attempts to unify the Island as an independent nation took place with the decline of the Spanish and Portuguese empires, though these hopes were dashed during the Spanish Civil War, when the northern island was overtaken by republican forces. Following the defeat of the republicans in Spain, the North declared it's independence as the "Democratic Republic of Sahrani", while the South remained as the Kingdom of Sahrani. Both nations assert claim to the entire island chain, though aside from a few minor skirmishes during the cold war, neither attempted to act on this until the conflict of 2006, when the Northern President was apparently assassinated, and blame was placed on the South. The situation rapidly spiralled out of control, with both nations publicly accusing each other of various crimes against humanity, culminating in a full invasion of the South by Northern forces. BLUFOR: RSRA Not much is known about the RSRA. They fought against the Southern Occupation of North Sahrani, and assisted Prince Orlando during his attempted coup, though it's believed they've been active across the entire Sahrani island chain for much longer. The relatively young nation has been forced into a civil war by South Zagorian Separatists, who want to break away from the Government in Novigrad and join the Russian Federation. BLUFOR: CDF The Chernarus Defence Force is loyal to the government and people of Chernarus. Flew into Takistan this afternoon to test some alternate camouflage schemes. DSLAPAT isn't too commonly seen - it's was used for a small period by foreign service soldiers during the Soviet Invasion of Takistan. It doesn't really work in South Sahrani, but the DRS's military doctrine requires they keep it on hand to assist in the Global Revolution, so there's a ton of this stuff sitting in a warehouse near Pita. (Probably going to change that red to a dark brown, it's based on one of the middile eastern DPM knock-offs, I was hoping it'd grow on me... it hasn't :( It'd blend in a lot better somewhere like Duala, though) The "Omniversal" pattern entered service in the SLAGF sometime after 2004. It's a bit difficult to say exactly when, because as far as we can tell, no one actually been issued it yet. The CDF's urban pattern draws inspiration from Russian "Gorod" camouflage, as such, it is blue. The only blue building in the Green sea region is this Mosque, in Zargabad. RACS also have an alternate camouflage scheme, however, it's actually quite sensible for them to have one, and since I can't say anything vaguely comical about it, I'll just point out this guy doesn't have a magazine in his gun. Har har har. I'm somewhat debating exactly how to implement these - there doesn't seem to an easy way to change a soldier's uniform while keeping the inventory (but it could still be done). In the ArmA.2 pack, the desert troops were just a different faction, but that method doesn't seem to be making the best use of the new uniform system... any input on this would be appreciated!

    No women at all

I'd... like to retort... but... to be honest, now that I think about it... did we just waste a whole day arguing over whether "This would require a change in the base code that isn't going to happen" or "This would require a change in the base code that isn't going to happen"? I sort of feel as though we did. I mean, it was a Saturday, so, you know, no big loss, but... still... I feel kinda foolish now... But, hey, DeadMeat, you know, from BAS, my all time hero. He actually agreed with something I said. :o
