thanks for all the help, i got it working ingame. i do however have one problem, the sound has changed.. it no longer sounds like the orriginal .wav i converted to .wss. for some reason it seems like the pitch and volume ingame for the sound has been turned down.
-
i have it as a .wav 16bit mono, and coverted it to .wss maybe the bitrate or even the 44100Hz could be the problem?
-
i would like to know how i can convert a .bin file into a .cpp for editing. i already have the programe to convert .cpp to .bin
-
can anyone tell me why my custom sound sounds different ingame.. like the pitch has been lowered as well as the volume. i would really like to get this working right.
-
wow man your the first guy to reply with exactly what i needed, thanks alot! i do need to know one more thing. i made a new bulletfly sound which i installed, it works but theres just one issue.. it doesnt sound like the orriginal file i made. it sounds deeper in tone and lower in volume. now that i can edit the config.bin, i changed the values of the line - soundFly[]={objects\bulletnoise,db-12,0.7};.. but it still sounds the same. what i would like to know is how do i change the tone or pitch as well as the volume of the sound file so it sounds the way i intended it to sound befor pboing the sound file.
-
you must have a different version of binview than i, as i dont have such a tab.. only File, Options, and Help. no of which have Actions, or Export to .cpp-file. i found a program to convert .cpp to .bin.. but i still need to convert the .bin to .cpp so i can edit it.
-
there is no option in BINView to export anything. i even checked their website, and it doesnt say anything about exporting.
-
i got a bin viewing program, but all i see are rows of numbers and some text, nothing like this soundFly[]={objects\bulletnoise,db-12,0.7};
-
ok i got the sound working, but i need to change its db setting in the CONFIG.BIN file, but i dont know how to view and edit it.
-
what tools do i use to play and convert .wss files?
-
um.. that we already have in OFP.. stop nitpicking already.. its getting old

FlashNews Armour Hit Competition.

i think it is you who is having issues on knowing what side your on.. try reading the whole thing from start to finish, and make sure you understand what is being said. but just incase you dont figure it out i'll help you out. you (the guy with the "RPG"(like that doesnt give it away)), are part of the northern forces.. that Abrams tank is part of the southern forces.. you're objective is to take out any southern.. ok let have another go.. SOUTHERN armour vehicles. that being siad, that abrams is the ONLY southern forces armour seen in the picture, its a little too obvious that it's your target. -
i love the water textures, but there is just one thing missing. where's the fogging (silt in water-cloudy) effect in the water? HL2 has it and it looks soooo good
-
i just use the programable application keys on my keyboard. i have play/pause, previous, next, stop, and like 7 other functions
-
the abrams armour is weakest in the rear by the exsaust vents for its jet turbine. if you are going to RPG an abrams, the back would be the most ideal.

oh if only this mod was made so that you didnt have to have 20+ pbo's just for different versions of the same weapon.. hasn't anyone even thought of making a script so that in-game you can swap parts like scopes, mags, handgaurds, silencers, GL's, stocks, barrels.. and so on.. have the base weapon, then all the parts that can be attached to it.. that sure would make things alot easier, and also make the mod file size alot smaller.

some people are soo greedy

think of it as a chalange to improve your modelling skills. there are many trick and techniques out there for making normal maps. oh and you CAN make a home built 3d scanner. heck, that sounds like a great idea for a little project. (walks out of the room with a list of parts)
-
This is the kind of high poly model you'd have to create in order to make a good normal map. Easy? Judge for yourselves hummm.. i wonder why BIS has a 3D scanner for.. maybe it's just for show and sits on their dinner table as a center piece. or could it be they use it for scanning objects??? only BIS knows for sure.

AA is rather useless other than to get rid of jagged edges,I never found much use in it to be honest, whats a few pixel edges hurt, and don't forget, what we have seen has been wip, they may or may not include it,in which case you'll jave have to live with it. ...drool i'll let the more senior forum members reply to that post.

and you can import animations from MAYA
-
There is such a thing UkraineBoy. Â Google it. Motion sensing is for animations of course. Yes there's such a thing but a small gaming company BIS would not have access to it. dude.. one of them 3D scanners is about the size of a professional TV camera, even if its an expensive bit of equipment, how can you say that BIS would not have access to one. how could you know. maybe one of its partners from IDEA already has one and is letting BIS use it while they use BIS's motion capture studio. i really dislike people who post such remarks as if it were facts if they know nothing about it. anyways.. it would be a simple matter of buying a high grade plastic model kit, glueing it together, scanning it and make a simple mesh to slap the normalmap/displacmentmap to it. just because they are making tanks for Armed Assault doesnt mean they need a full scale tank to scan, same goes for any object.

lol you know you can change the aspect ratio and view angle in the ini and cfg files so that it fits on your wide screen, thats what i did to my OFP. -
what i find cool is that not only does it work great with games, but also with movies and still pictures! i love this thing!!! when i get a chance im getting the largest one i can get. i now have this lens on my monitor 24/7.
-
yo, i just went out and got me a 12x12 inch lens today after ready this topic.. i must say, it's something else. i was playing OFP with it and it is just sweet, it does add depth, i could judge distance from object to object, and when flying its just looks awsome! also it makes my 20.1" widescreen TFT LCD monitor look like a 36". the only problem is finding a method of attaching it to the monitor. im useing a temp solution for now. well worth the $40 CDN for this considering the alternitve
