  1. well.. alot lol the F18 has 12,776 faces so far. the F14 has 8,078 (yea i know huge difference, still working on it) the HK416 so far has 17,319. and the G36 has (deep breath) 33,839 faces. (i got all the internals modeled including the riffeling in the barrel... the spring coils and barrel make up most of the polycount). once im finished with them, they will all have low poly copies for ArmA.
  2. ok, seeing as this thread is in desperate need of CPR.. i may as well post a little something to bring it back from the brink. Download WeaponsWIP.zip sorry about the file hosting site, but its free so bleh! so yea its obvious they are both WIP ^_^ oh and all dimentions are 100% 1:1 to their real world brothers. also i have a number of aircraft in the works, i'll post up pictures when they are more "finished". just as a prelude to whats to come.
  3. there is a real simple solution to all your problems. dont like Sahrani?, make a better island. heck why stop at a just and island, make a whole continent. take a few years off of your life and make it just the way you think it should have been from the start. when your done i'll gladly play it, if it'll play at all that is. there already is a test island out thats around 40,600 square kilometers, lags like a studdering 8 yearold with downsyndrome, but hey it works. you all need to be thankfull that at least we dont just have "maps" the we load, where we cant go out of that play area. (BF Series anyone?) most of these pointless brat-like posts "why, why, why?.. i want, i want, i want" really brighten my day. here we are with a game that has a scale that is only equaled by MMORPGs, where you can almost do anything, which most players can barely run as is, and you guys think not enough was done and want more, more, more... common!
  4. a fourlane highway on an island that would have a population of what 20-40 thousand?... highways are ment for large capital citys where they need the space to move over 200k cars a day. trying doing some research on nations and island nations of the same size as Sahrani and see if they have 8 lane highways, much less 4. this is not GTA, they are not trying to make one huge island city. this is a small island with two seperate nations, both of which have really small populations. as for roads running up mountains, again do some research. the Sahrani mountains to the north are tiny and steep. the tallest is what 400+meters?... the mountains that you would find in the real world that have roads whinding around them are huge mountains that are many times the size of the ones found on north Sahrani, with masive bases spreading over hundreds of kilometers if not thousands. remember that 400 square kilometers may sound really huge, but thats only 64Km x 64Km... i can bike 64Km in a day.

    SD Amunition

    using subsonic (SD) ammo in a nonsuppresed weapon, you get the loud muzzle report (bang) but the rounds are silent (no crack). from a distance this works really well since the person being shot wont hear the crack and just the distant faint pop from the gun. on the other hand if you use normal ammo in a suppresed weapon you now have the bullet crack but no muzzle report. so its normal that if your getting shot at with subsonic ammo, you wont know your being shot at. you would only hear the distant pop and think that its someone shooting close by but not at you. with a suppresed weapon and normal ammo, you would know when shots are fired at you, but you just wouldnt hear the report and not know from where the shots are being fired from. i find that arma replicates this fairly well.

  8. nephilim that AK looks awsome, but if i could make one suggestion, it would be to tweak the specular and gloss to make it look less "polished" and have more of a flat anodized finish. wish i could make textures as good as you  my HK416 would look 10 times better then it does now with nice textures that show nicks and scratches that let the metal show under the flat black anodized finish. my real 416 is still new, so i cant use it for textures. Â
  9. for the last few days of playing 1.08, i have come to hate the ingame VOIP. there are a few reasons why and what we need changed to put a stop to these infantile children who are making the use of VOIP compleatly useless and totally frustrating. Please oh please!.. add the function of being able to see who is talking, either via the player list or by a VOIP pop-up in one of the corners that shows the name/s of the players talking. (i much prefer to have this on the player list since we can scroll and see all the names on it.) everytime im playing there is some dips**t who spams the mic with idiotic music and some other childish garbage, and we have no means of knowing who the hell it is so we can boot them. this leads most playing to either set the radio voulme in Audio Options to zero, or put up with that a$$hole throughout the game. server admins are left with very few options, they can either ignore it, start kicking random players untill they get the right one, or reset their server(which does nothing since the idiot mic spammer just rejoins and continues where he left off). so please, lets do something about this and give us more power to do more then just put up or shut up.

    3D MAX

    i have both 3DSMAX and LightWave 3D 9, and i must say that i rather like working with LW alot more. i find it much easier and faster to learn. oh and Panda[PL], you can cycle through different selection modes via the space bar in LW (Vertisies, faces, edges, and volume).

    POLL: Do you want ArmA Anti-Cheat?

    i dont know how affective BIS's antcheat is, but one thing i know is that its not doing jack to stop these cheat/hack in arma.. im sitting in the lobby of a server as i write this. we had 62 players in here and now its almost empty thanks to a group of at least 3 TKC members who are in here killing everything. it would seem that ArmA is a cheaters "paraiso", since they do as they please knowing full well they cant be stopped. this is the worst and likely the most damaging thing for ArmA. i dont know wher BIS stands on this subject, much less what and if they are doing anything about it. as things are right now, we cant have ArmA ladders of anykind since there is no way of stopping these cheats, much less knowing who's running them. TKC already knows how to get around the filecheck system. i would like to know what steps BIS is taking to stop this runaway train befor it gets too late to save ArmA.

    because then the military wouldnt bother paying the high price for VBS2 and just buy a bunch of arma copies. face it, the military will always get more attention and features then the civies, simply more money to be made that way. BIS is a business afterall.
  17. im not saying extreme gore, just general gibbing like you see in alot of other games. it just really gets to me when i shoot some dude with a .50cal or a HEAT round from my tank, only to watch his compleatly intact body get tossed around like a stiff board. just segment the body into its basic parts add blood and spray effects, and there you have it. ofcouse it would compleatly depend on the ciliber of the weapon used. orriginal halflife is more gory than Arma, but i wouldnt need anything close to the gore of DOOM3 (i can dream right?)

    ArmA is just ... disappointing

    You might not be ready for Arma yet... Â that was awsome. oh and about VOIP, the only thing they should change, is make it so the player pool (p) shows who is talking. i have yet to see a real radio that tells me who is on the other side talking to me.. thats what radio protocal is for. as for showing who is talking in the pool, thats just to help the server admins so they know who is mic spamming so they can boot them. showing who is talking on the score board (i) doesnt really do much since it only shows the top 9 players + your self.. what good is that if you cant see the guy who is spamming the mic that is in 23rd place.. compleatly useless.

    ArmA 1.08 makes me want to throw up

    i dont see the probelm here.. 1.08 looks far better than 1.02 or 1.05/06. befor 1.08 the colors looked too "washed out" and bland, now everything looks more vibrant. if you think it looks too dark, turn up your brightness and adjust your gamma. just because they are set to default, doesnt mean that it looks the same on all hardware set ups. there is a real simple solution to your problem. dont like the brightness, adjust it to your liking.

    Patch 1.08 - Released!

    make sure you check your own sound card settings. if you have 4.1 speakers set and only use 2, then the you wont hear sounds behind you.

    My problem with the Aimpoint model in ArmA.

    its not the size of the RDS than changes when you adjust the brightness. simply looks larger when brighter cause of bloom and glare.
