    ok ..time for my 2 cents ..not trying to offend anyone at bis or codemasters when i say this ...a long time ago ..ofp stopped being just their game ...and became ours ..We made the mods broke heavy engine limits and still carry on ..i mean every 1 &3 Fri bout 80 people come over to my house and my buddy next door to play ofp ...what other game can you do that with ..plus look at the OFP community ..kinda like a mini un task force ...only we get stuff done. I mean come on guys ..and girls we've been going strong from a long while. ..and will keep going till we get ofp2 ..or a new patch outta BIS ...but just remember ..it's your game ...make it the best it can be.

    here at my home we run what we call lan wars .. bout 80+ players

    covering all parts of ofp ..Air land and sea ...

    we had one game ...Secure and Search for rebal forces on mungari

    some forces came ashore in AAV-7's at the harbor ..others were dropped by BAS mh-47's with KLRs ...so mission going as planned

    had our 2 BAS kiowa Warriors landed at the harbor armed with a mix of stingers,50 cal's and hellfires ....took off to patrol to "secured Area" spotted rebel troops moving along one of the bridges by this time ..night had fallen ..just imagine coming off a bridge to find a OH-58 hovering at the end ...and it was the last thing they saw ...

    having seen both airframes close up ..i'd have picked the S-92 hands down ...i look foreward to reading to dept of navy report on why ... they picked what looks to be on paper to be the lesser of the two airframes ?

    well for all the military history buffs today marks a turning point in Marine Corps and Presidential Flight. today the US Navy named the Lockheed Martin-Augusta Westland US-101 aircraft as the new airframe for Marine One.

    So ends the service of the Sikorsky VH-3D's and will be the first time since the president started flying aboard a Marine One that he will not be stepping aboard a Sikorsky airframe when he boards a Marine One aircraft.

    ok after a little looking around and callin a few people. i found out both versions exist ...both long and short barrel. short barrel with the jacket or shroud GAU-16/A is the most common version in use and does share some features with the pylon mounted .50 on the OH-58 D airframe. source of this info a few guys in my office ..and a phone call to Saco defense ..maker of the M-2

    The machine guns selected for the UH-1Y are the M-240D, GAU-16 and GAU-17A. this is for the new version of the uh-1 the above still apllies to the UH-1N

    the current in service status of the FCR system is just about one in

    two airframes are equipped to use the FCR IE it can me mounted on these airframes ...as i understand it it takes about 20 hours per ship to upgrade the systems and this can be done at an AVIM depot.

    the reason for wanting a one to four ratio is crew workload as the longbows aim is to act as a battlespace management platform much like the Air Force's JSTARS platform.

    it's just to bad a few of the longbow's cooler features can't be done here in ofp ..be nice to have a OH-58D Kiowa Warrior out running point four a four ship flight of d models and using ivis or ATHS (automatic target handoff system). imagine taking out a tank company with out a word being spoken between aircrews miles away. as tom clancy once said "it used to be if you can see a target you could kill it ..now if you can sense it you can kill it". also be nice to have a TACFIRE type setup
