    Nassau 1715

"In an honest service there is thin commons, low wages, and hard labour. In this, plenty and satiety, pleasure and ease, liberty and power; and who would not balance creditor on this side, when all the hazard that is run for it, at worst is only a sour look or two at [hanging]? No, a merry life and a short one shall be my motto." - Bartholomew Roberts A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the most notorious Pyrates (1724) "Fear not the sea, for those born to hang will never drown." - Ancient Proverb Intro Nassau 1715 is about the economic, social and power struggles that occurred in the West Indies during the early 18th century and the events leading to that, telling the true and brutal story behind some of history's most notorious criminals who plundered the seas and the bold and determined men who hunted them down. This is a proof of concept release. This is not meant to be a complete conversion for ArmA 3. Rather it's meant to show that this concept, 18th century naval warfare, is possible in ArmA. Another goal of the proof of concept is to attract more developers to help with the long term goal of creating a complete total modification for ArmA 3, DayZ or even ArmA 4. After the proof of concept release the project will be reevaluated for a viable total modification. In the long term, the mod is planned to encompass some of the most significant events in Europe and the West Indies that led to the Golden Age of Piracy, including parts of the War of Spanish Succession and the English privateer voyages in the West Indies against the Spanish and French. These events come together with the wrecking of the Spanish Plate Fleet of 1715 off the coast of Florida, leading to the rise of the Pirate Republic at Nassau, New Providence Island. From there, Nassau 1715 explores the world of pirates of the West Indies and the East Coast of America, and the steps taken by the English government and colonies to suppress them, using real life events as a story backdrop for multiplayer gameplay in an open world setting. The biggest feature of Nassau 1715 is being able to authentically sail large vessels, therefore sailing, while greatly simplified from real life, is difficult and challenging, requiring basic seamanship and knowledge. You must read the field manual in the game and review the Quick Sail Guide in order sail. Screenshots Features Included in this release are Several Sloops (including: Adventure, Albas, Royal James and Antelope) 1-Pounder Swivel Gun 6-Pounder Naval Cannon .62 Flintlock Pistol .69 Naval Pattern Carbine 17 Uniforms (not counting variants) 3 Vests (not counting variants) 4 Hats (not counting variants) Map of Gun & Cat Cay High Seas Map Ingame Documentation/Field Manual Some Basic Missions (SP & MP) More content will be added over time. Quick Sail Guide Quick Sail Guide Considerations while playing You must learn how to sail in order to sail. This is not an arcade game, it's an authentic simulation of sailing. It will be difficult. You should expect to be frustrated and confused at first. Only after studying the art of sailing you will be good at sailing. In order to become a better sailor you should listen and follow the instructions of more experienced players who know how to sail. Sailing is a crew effort based on skill and knowledge. If you are a beginner you should avoid shoals at all cost or you'll run aground. Because this is an early proof of concept release, features, classnames and assets may change and/or be removed. This mod brings gameplay features that have never been attempted before in ArmA, so there will glitches and other issues. Lastly this was develop with the idea of being used on a multiplayer server. Compatibility We did not specifically develop this mod with compatibility to other popular mods in mind, therefore you may encounter some issues if you choose to use this mod with another mod. Compatibility with other mods isn't a priority since every other mod is from a different century. 4. DHI Uniforms contains multiple variants of Battle Dress Uniforms (BDUs), including blouses tucked in, sleeves rolled up and "boots n' utes". Also included are Marine Corps and Special Forces variants. DHI Uniforms further includes three different hats, boonies, patrol caps and eight point caps. Every uniform has correct thermal imaging textures and advanced wound textures along with insignia and clan shoulder patches. Further more, over 20 insignia patches in subdued green have been added. Each variant of BDUs and caps have 18 different camouflage patterns that should suite anybody's needs. If one doesn’t fit your need you can ask me if I can add another camo pattern to my uniforms as long as it’s appropriate for these uniforms and I can find free, high res patterns. For people who have subscribe to my US Military Mod please be aware that these uniforms are based on the A3 body while the USM Mod vests are based on the A2 bodies, so there will be clipping issues. I may make gear and equipment for these uniforms later on. Features and content I would like to include in the future - Module to set nametapes and shoulder sleeve insignias - Add swim suit variants - Add fleece, aviator and M65 field jacket variants - Add Spec Ops BDUs/ODU/Flight BDUs - Add TCUs, 3rd Pattern If you want to see me create more content more often consider becoming a Patron through Patreon. Creating 3d art requires great skill and dedication, and is very time consuming. By becoming a Patron you will help give me the freedom to create more of the content that you want to see. There's also a sneak peak into what I might add to this later Link to Steam Workshop Item https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1573550621 FAQ Q. Can I retexture your mod and or repackage it? A. Q. Why don't you allow retextures or modifications of your mods? A. I allowed it once back in OFP and it caused drama and grief for two years and it made me feel like crap. Never, ever again. Q. Any future plans? A. Plenty. Time is a huge problem though. I'm still working on the Nassau 1715 project. The short term plan is to add different uniform types like BDUs with sweaters or M65 field jackets. Something that maybe added relatively soon is posted on my Patreon page. Jump over there and take a look at it. https://www.patreon.com/deltahawk Q. What's with Patreon? A. I figure I'd try it. My modifications will always be free, but this may be a solution to the time problem. We'll see. It can only benefit people. Q. Are you going to redo your ALICE/PASGT gear? A. If I have time maybe. While I'd like to think my USM mod aged well it is old and the quality isn't up to standard, so I basically have to redo everything, which would take at least 3 - 6 months if I work on it full time. Q. What mods did you use in your pictures? A. By far the TAC VEST mod is the coolest https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=779568775&searchtext=vest I've also used RHS, UNSUNG and CUP. UNSUNG's vests don't work well but they have good old school weapons. CUP is good for some stuff. RHS has some high quality gear that fits perfectly.

Hey guys, I have some bad news. I'm going to take a step back from working on this mod for several reasons, the main reason being intellectual property violations in general and people reuploading this mod. As a rule of thumb I don't discuss these issues and I'd appreciate it if people didn't make any guesses as to the details. I don't know when or if I'll return back to working on this mod. I may make some small updates to fix errors or issues. I'm truly sorry for the inconvenience. There's not a soul on this earth that's as torn up by this as much as me. I'm still going to work on the Nassau 1715 mod. Bit of good news I'm considering sharing my knowledge on 3d art with short tutorials, such as how to make stitches, research, normalize color/shade/brightness and how to extract texture references from photos. If there's anything in particular you'd like to know about how I do what I do please let me know.

Happy New Years from the Nassau 1715 team! We want to take this opportunity to show you even though we've been quiet we're still working on the mod, specifically the English gally frigate of 20 guns. As you can imagine something like this is very, very complicate, probably the most complicated and complex vehicle for ArmA ever, and requires a lot of work.

Hey guys, time for a new update! This update brings back the M5 Medical Bag and introduces the M1 helmet in a few different camouflages! Both pieces of equipment has been used by the US Army, Marines, Navy and Airforce for about half a century. This update also includes several different, non-functioning items. I've included an authentic angle head US GI flashlight...which being authentic means it sucks so we'll chalk it up under non-functioning too.

It's relatively cheap where I'm at. I even once found the medic molle LBV vest, which is kind of like a unicorn. Guys, I made a new discord. The main purpose of this discord is to allow people to post unique and rare pictures related to my projects, specifically DHI, that I can use for reference. Photos from the 80s and 90s are kind of forgotten treasures that can help a lot with my projects. If you have any other suggestions that I can do with this discord let me know.https://discord.gg/ke6MswV

Funny you should ask. Next updated will include the M5 Medical bag, which was used by the US military for about half a century. My Patrons have been able to follow the development of this bag and give feedback up to this point. The USM aren't as accurate. Those covers were a little too bright. When I made those I didn't have an actual PASGT with woodland cover. Yes, I have just about everything in my modification except for the M9 and M7 bayonet, IFAK, buttpack...uh...uh...yea, got the rest. I just might take a picture of all this junk for the fun of it. Benefits of living next to a military base 😉

They look like normal woodland BDUs with shoulder lapels. I really can't add variants with small details like that, especially since I plan on adding a lot more gear and equipment. I will fix the Safariland holster. I forgot to hide the low profile vest.

    DHI Battle Dress Uniforms

I can separate them...sort of. It won't be as easy as it sounds. I was lazy with making my LODs and used the merge function, so now on the other LODs the canteens and buttpacks are one, so I'll have to work on that.

    DHI Battle Dress Uniforms

You're right a lot of soldiers didn't carry buttpacks often. I'm going to think about how to show this. Not sure about the M7 but I'll think about it. Do a lot of people know the difference between the M7 and M9?

New DHI update released today includes PASGT flak jackets! I made the edited one too. I try not to add too much mud to my textures but this was a special case. They're too dark for a reason. It's hard to illustrate this but I try to match colors, shades and fades to real life as best as possible. I actually have this stuff. If you look at the character the helmet, which has a twill fabric cover, is next to the upper, back torso of the BDUs, which is ripstop fabric. Ripstop tends to fade faster than twill and the upper back tends to fade faster than the rest of the uniform because of sun light, salt from sweat, and the wear of gear. I'll admit it's odd, but it's completely realistic. If you compare it to the M65 jacket, which is a poplin fabric with an inner liner (not to mention field jackets aren't worn a lot), the colors and fades are more similar. I'm sure the flak jacket will raise some eye brows, but trust me it's 100% accurate.

Hey Timberhawk, I'm glad you're enjoying sailing. Tacking into the wind is sort of simple. If you're sailing on your own you'll want to douse your tops'l if it's set (I'll get to the halliard in a second). If you're tacking into the wind you're probably sailing "Closed Haul", which means the wind is coming from either the front right or the front left of the sloop. Look at the bottom left of the Quick Sail Guide for a picture of the points of sail. First thing to do is fall off from the wind, putting the wind abeam, therefore increasing your speed in order to tack. When you're ready to tack turn the wheel all of the way to the side you want to tack. If you're fast enough before you turn the wheel you can lower the heads'ls at the bow so it's easier to turn into the wind. As you get close to irons haul the gaff sail amidship so it doesn't slow you down. You should have enough momentum to past through irons. Once you do just wait for the heads'ls to push the bow downwind. If you lowered your heads'l raise them again at the pin rails near the wheel once you pass irons. It's also a good idea to trim the gaff so the wind isn't pushing on the stern while the bow is turning down wind. Fall off the wind by putting the wind abeam and once you pick up speed again set your course for a new tack. See? Simple! Sailing ships act like a weather vane. The more sail towards the bow (the heads'ls), the more the bow will turn downwind. The more sail to the stern (the gaff) the more the bow will turn up wind. The tops'l halliard raises the tops'l yard, which is the horizontal pole that's holding the topsail. By default the yard is lowered and the tops'l clews (corners) are up. To set the topsail you have to both pull down the clews with the sheets and raise the tops'l with the halliard.

Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know we're still working on Nassau1715. Our current goal is to get the English galley frigate of 20 guns sailing. Currently fore and aft sails are functional! If you would like to help out, even if it's small, just drop me a pm.

The M65s should appear more puffy than the normal BDU blouse, so there will be some clipping with certain gear. I've already had to slim down the jacket a lot so there's probably not much more I can do. Not sure what is up with the vest. I'll have to take a look at it.

Yup, that's it! I completely forgot to add the pleats. I notice I forgot the draw string but I ignored it. The other side of the front zipper should be partially visible but it's so small it's hardly noticeable.

    DHI Battle Dress Uniforms

Ok, just because I know my M65 field jacket is 98% to the real deal...I challenge you to find the only difference between the real thing and my jacket. The only three things missing was because I was too lazy to add them. For reference my field jacket that I based this one on is circa 90s woodland, medium, made by Golden Mfg. Co.

    Nassau 1715

Hey everyone. The release of Nassau 1715 has been pretty successful. If you haven't tried it and please feel free to do so. It's a dramatically different experience for ArmA. We're going to continue to work on this modification, adding more ships, clothing, equipment, weapons and specific locations, but in order to be successful as a total modification we really need help. What we're trying to do is basically a huge modification with a lot of never before seen assets in ArmA 3 and we simply can not do it on our own. We have a small team with only a few salty and experienced 3d artists and scripters and what we have planned is simply too much for us to do within a reasonable amount of time. We really need help in is making 3d assets, such as forts, houses, weapons, objects, cannons, boats and uniforms. We also need a dedicated project coordinator, public relations manager and project manager. If you'd like me to elaborate our needs I would be glad to. We have a road map for the required ships, starting with the sloop. Next we're going to add an English Frigate, the HMS Perspehone, based on the HMS Blandford along with her real life sisters the HMS Greyhound, HMS Phoenix and possible the Scarborough. We're also going to add more variants of the sloop. From there we're going to add a snow/brig (which was also kindly donated by Phillipj) and then a French frigate but we need in order to accomplish this. This is project is very possible. That hard part is over, we got the proof of concept to work in the game except for a melee system. Everything else simply requires additional help. If you're interested we can discuss it here or at the Nassau discord. If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you.

@Laqueesha That blouse would have belong to an officer since it has a "branch" rank insignia, right?

    DHI Battle Dress Uniforms

In the 90s and going into the early 2000s it was common to see service members wear subdued OD green patches, ranks and nametapes because it may not have been possible to get desert patches, ranks and name tapes sewed on for the whole unit. Everyone in a unit had to be the same and since they already had subdued OD green that was what they generally went with.

I know summer is around the corner but hopefully this will be cool. Today's update adds basic cold weather gear, the M65 field jacket in all current camouflage patterns and two different versions of the US GI wool scarf (the alternative version was kindly donated by Cunico). The M65 field jacket has been the staple of cold weather gear for the US military for half a century. With the jacket and inside liner the M65 jacket can keep you warm even in freezing weather! The M65 uniforms are in 4k. Please let me know what you think of the 4k, if the file size has made a negative impact and any performance related issues. For the facewear gear I've also made NVG versions of them. I have disabled the NVG capability with the NVG version of the facegear. Before anyone expresses strong feelings about this please see below for my reasoning. Patreon plug 😳: My work is not a 3rd party DLC. I don't really have time to set up the USM mod again. It's just best to focus on my two current projects right now. I'll eventually get the most important parts from USM over to this mod. As for California I'll be honest I was only mostly around the Oceanside area and from time to time I found myself in San Diego and LA for one reason or another. I've also been out to some desert areas that I care not to remember. So out of all of the places I've been to Bridgeport was the most enjoyable for me.

I was at Bridgeport. Beautiful area. Only place in California did I truly enjoy. Thank you for the offer of photos but they're unnecessary now because, big surprise, I've already made a M65 Field Jacket. I chose the M65 because it has a longer life span (70s-mid 2000s) than the ECWS. This will be the only cold weather jacket I'll make for a long time. After an update I'll move onto other equipment.

Are you all shooting blanks? You guys are very meticulous judging by the gear so it kind of make me think you all went through the red tape to shoot blanks. That's the M51 "Fish tail" Parka btw. Learned that recently.
