    Need help w/ objects.sav --- lost weapons

Well THAT was remarkably easy... I had my guys vacate the T72 and hop in the T55. Then I had everyone follow me into the field. Remember, I have zero rifles, sidearms, etc. I put everyone to the west of the road, behind that hill down there and have them all face east or southeast, not sure. Leave them there ready to go, all spaced out so that subsequent explosions of one tank won't kill the others. Ran over and tossed land mines across the road to the right of where I could see from my ambush point. Went back and waited. Land mines claimed one, maybe two. Guys on my left flank started firing first. By the time it was over we had killed every Russian tank without casualties and only two hits to our guys. I remained unscathed despite killing 3 tanks. Not bad. Now I am on to the mission where you grab the AA weapons at night. Interesting storyline considering I took out the two extra tanks AND the 3 gunships and they didn't kill any of my guys (they were all chilling way back in the woods while I made use of RPGs and .50 Cal emplacements). I am STILL having glitches with the ammo/weapons in the objects.sav file because the 1st mission against the base I had gathere ALL the weapons from 3 squads. All generic weapons plus Scorpion with maybe 15-20 mags and a pair of Toakarevs. Not to mention that I think I had grabbed about 18 rounds of RGP before I ever got to the base. Loaded it all to the truck. Left my guy in charge of the truck. Didn't get a single weapon or mag. Oh well, as long as it doesn't erase the HK, SVD + 40 mags, or RPGs I'll be ok w/ it.

LOL - true enough! If it were part of the story line I'd probably flow right alogn with it, but I know its a glitch and its pissing me off. I also like to keep my guys outfitted and loaded up with the best weapons. Or to at least have the option of a Bizon or SVD when the need arises.

No one? Can't I even get a copy of someone else's file?

    Editing new pistols / sidearms?

I think it'd be fun to carry the Casul with its 5 round clip. Just the 5 rounds, no more. But make the round powerful enough to kill in one shot and to launch human targets backwards a few feet

What is the .50 Action Express? Do you know how much POWDER is in a Casul round? They recommend that you do not fire one more than two rounds in a day or risk permanent damage to your tendons and possible carpel tunnel. I've never heard of the .50 Action Express before, tell me more!

A buddy of mine might throw in and play with a few weapon models. I'm not such a stickler for the weapons looking "just right" as long as they accurately represent how the real one would work. But I'll see what he's up for doing with the models. I don't expect it to be soon since he's building a new PC in a week or two.

    Need help w/ objects.sav --- lost weapons

Yeah, I got the bug. The patch isn't out yet and I'm not interested in going back and replaying the previous one tonight. It was pretty easy taking Modrava, no casualties, captured 3 more tanks plus all the trucks and half the ammo before I finished the level. But this is getting old FAST. And now I got caught in the loss of weapons bug because I didn't stay up until 3am to beat First Strike. Can someone just upload their Objects.sav file from later on in the campaign? Or even e-mail it to me? I will figure out a way to play with the file. But first I just want to play through the campaign and enjoy it and the new missions without all this BS.

    Editing new pistols / sidearms?

Which program would I need to use in order to alter or generate new weapons? There are a few rifles I would like to duplicate using actual ballistics info for the rounds. Specifically, my .300 Win Mag rifle, my 30-.06 Browning, and my Mini-14. Also like to make a Mini-30 with collapsible stock. I'm not going to go nuts with graphics, I can live with close approximations from other guns I have downloaded. But I would like to have some fun. Also thinking about a few pistols.... .454 Casul THE most powerful handgun in the world, .45 Glock, .380, etc. Anyone know how I might go about making a silenced 9mm with laser site? Now THAT would be fun.... perfect for those missions where you bring a heavy automatic for laying it down but need something with finesse for infiltration or sneak shots.

    Spss: adapting objects.sav for editing?

Maybe tonight I'll start playing with a copy of the file. Think it might induce FADE? Ah well, if it does I have backup copies of everything and I doubt it would erase or mess with my 350+ megs of addon .pbo's But if anyone has attempted this before I'd like to hear from you, even if you weren't successful. Also - anyone else experienced in hex editing is welcome to try too. I only know to keep changing different values and checking for a result. And that could take a LONG time....

Hmm, nothing turned up for me in the search after using many different terms and reading through the vast majority of them anyway. Never hurts to learn new stuff. Ok, I got my hex editor to open the file without issue. Has anyone else gone into it? Can anyone tell me which codes represent what? most lines are similar to this under the Weaponcargo on the Ural I brought in last time... ;.....kItem37....."i..; Others, a very few, read... ;.....sItem45....."tSVDDragunov...; there are not enough with names weapons to represent ALL the weapons I have snagged so far in the 1st 3 missions. A pair of Bizons, plenty of assorted AK74s and AK47s, RPG launchers, PKs, Tokarevs, and all sorts of ammo and grenades. I am no amateur at the game, trust me. I can roll through all the Flashpoint and Red Hammer missions like candy. And am enjoying learning the new Resistance missions too! But spending all the time I do to get through unscathed and with my guys alive eats a lot of time. Then to spend from 20 minutes to an hour running around picking up guns then putting them on the truck, car, or ammo crate gets OLD. Especially forever having to scroll to the bottom of the list to put an item in the vehicle. My original post mentioned tossing G36s and T80s in for shits and giggles, but that is after I beat the campaign. For now I'd like to be able to roll through and not waste my limited free time (yeah I work 50+ hours/week and do jobs on the side - no free college life anymore) running around doing "nothing". I understand that its supposed to bring an added level to the game and to bring more depth and reality to the experience.... and that is cool. But quite frankly, I started the campaign yesterday and the day before for a total of 5 hours and got through the Scrap mission and am really annoyed by having to do this. So again I ask, who knows how to hexedit the objects.sav file to add ammo? Honestly, so far I am in no fear of running out of ammo. I am very deadly accurate with my RPG aim as well as many of the different rifles (though pistols are new to me). So I am sparing on ammo. I also usually keep my squad well behind me set on hold fire until/unless I need them to make a distraction for me. I'd love to be able to just sit down and play a mission for love of playing the mission. I read into the briefing for the next one taking the town and it sounds fun. I've got the T80, 3 T72s and the BMP that I stole from the previous mission as well as what looks like a spare T72. Should be phun! But I don't look forward to the aftermath of what looks to be a LARGE battle and running around to each corpse grabbing ammo. Big BIG deterrant to the game for me. I get up at 5 and don't intend to be awake until 1 again because I need to run around packing my lunch box full of PKs and BS.

In the famours words of Sir Homer Simpsons, "D'oh!" You're right, I went through a few of my game directories and found that the .sav files are now represented by SPSS icons. Good call. But I do have a few hex editors that I can try my hand at. Maybe I'll come up with something, but first I'll try panning through the message boards. Thanks!

What fun and challenge? I am rolling through this campaign. Yeah, TONS of fun to play through the mission and kill EVERYONE and then go back for 30 minutes driving around picking up weapons and dumping them in a vehicle? I like the idea behind having to keep my guys supplied. But it is a waste of my time to run around grabbing everything. Cheating? No. Keep me from finding the one reason NOT to like the campaign? Yes.
