    "Data file too short 'addons\voice.pbo'"

The Radeon 9100 IGP is an onboard gfx chip, and handles up to DirectX 8.1. I'm afraid but you won't be able to play ArmA with this thing. Anyone feel free to beat me with a stick when I am wrong.

    Crash to Desktop

You might try what Hudson said, and delete the CFG file from your My Documents/Arma folder. Still think it's a driver problem because I had exactly the same problem when I bought ArmA and tried to run it the first time. Is THIS the current driver version for your 680i you have installed ? It's quite new, only 4 weeks old. If you already have got it installed, I can only advise you to go through every single of your hardware components and check for current drivers.

Game runs only once every system start?

Furthermore it'd be interesting to know what precisely happens when you try to start it the second time. Nothing happens at all ? Do you receive an error message ? My first thought was "Process not properly killed" so you might want to check your process tree ( CTRL ALT DEL ) after exiting ArmA if there still is something running in the background.

    Suggestions?

You can find a list of all drivers for your notebook HERE It has got an Intel chipset. Current driver version is 7.2.2.1006 A, released March 2006. Hope that helps.

    Viewdistance - server side

Viewdistance has been an issue in many threads already. However, all those threads have been more or less performance related discussions. In OFP you had to set the viewdistance server sided for MP games. Makes sense - after all you don't want people to be able to spot the enemy from varying distances. So now, with the release of ArmA, and the upcoming dedicated server, we might start discussiong about viewdistance in terms of gameplay. My question to the people who have already played online with others: What is a good compromise regarding the viewdistance in terms of gameplay ? Over which distances can you effectively assault with what weapons and so on. Do view distances above let's say 2000 meters make sense at all ? I read somewhere that the view distance in OFP was 900 meters.

    FlashpointPreferences.exe

You can still change things like the maximum number of polygons rendered, and other details in some cfg file. Not sure if this will result in artifacts or have other negative side effects. I saw a performance related thread mentioning that yesterday.

    ArmA's internal communication

Can you actually turn the chatter down seperately, or do you have to turn the whole speaker volume down ? I remember the days when people would flood their custom sounds throughout OFP

    ArmA freeze after some minutes

Since I have an Asus A8N-X mainboard .. did you get the latest chipset driver from the Asus site ?

    ArmA freeze after some minutes

If the game 'freezes' after a certain period of time, you should try other havy-load 3D games. Do they freeze the PC as well after a while ? I had a similar problem once, and as it turned out it was an overheating problem. In my case the little fan on the front side bus died. PC would work fine until I ran 3D applications. Then it would freeze after a couple of minutes. Additionally, please state your mainboard type and model please.

    AT/ M136 / RPG7

In regards to the Javelin and all the other superb addons we could make use of in OFP: I think sooner or later they can easily be ported to ArmA. The 3D models are mostly sufficient, all it needs are some polished up hi-res textures, some value tweaking, and maybe a tool or two from BIS to make porting easier ^.^

    System restarts after 10-15 mins.

The fact you are able to play for hours sometimes more or less excludes all PSU issues. My two cents. We had someone here today whos PC would reboot right when starting up ArmA. As it turned out, the problem was related to a sound card driver issue. The recent drivers for your IDE/AGP/GART devices can be found here: http://www.sis.com/download/ Maybe you try the soundcard thingy as well ?

Game launches, process runs but no window

Okay let's see .. - Your OS seems fine, since it's patched to SP2 - The Gigabyte board uses an nVidia nForce4-4X chipset. - GPU is almost the same as mine ( X850 ) 1) What chipset drivers do you have installed ? The current version for the nForce4 is 6.86 and it has been released July 7, 2006. Get it HERE 2) I assume you are already using the newest Catalysm ATi driver ? ( If not get it HERE )

If you have downloaded the German version, I deem it highly unlikely that you had to install Starforce. The German version comes with SecuRom as copy protection. Or does the downloadable version come with Starforce ? None the less, please provide me with two additional infos: 1) Mainboard 2) Operating system

    No entry ...

    1) Go to My Documents --> Arma --> Config.cfg 2) Open it with notepad. 3) Add an entry: 3D_Performance=6410.000000; I'm just taking a guess, but that might fix your problem.

Are dual core supported in the game?

No the Armed Assault engine does not utilize dual core CPUs ( yet ) I would be surprised if it did, since it has been developed in times when there were no dual cores available. Furthermore this issue has its own thread already. God bless the US of A and .. the search function.

    Armed Assault..

Looking at the specifications of the CPUs and GPUs currently in the shops it appears to be antique. *EDIT to add* Did I mention my mainboard is made from plywood ? lol

    Armed Assault..

Anyone with a decent PC, who is still getting low framerates should have a look into their process tree. Especially AV programs, Spyware protection, IDS and other security tools, as well as a any other non-OS related processes will consume vast amounts of physical RAM and load your CPU. Go to the START button --> Select 'Run' --> type 'msconfig' and have a look at the processes/applications started up with windows. If your PC has not had a fresh installation of Windows, or if you have not carefully administrated your system, it is full of trash. My PC is mega old. 2.8 Ghz / 1.5 Gigz RAM / Ati X850 gfx card. Yet ArmA still runs at very decent frame rates with medium to high settings. Everything is set to high, except texture detail and disabled shadows. You must be doing something wrong if you have twice my PC's hardware resources and CPU speed, and still bitch about lag.
