    Lest we forget...

Well, Die Alive. I just lost ALL respect for you with that statement. Right now I'm just going to quote something said by someone I know on another forum: I'd like to point out the fact that today (November 11th) is the day that we here in Canada remember our soldier for what they have done, the thousands that dies over the years and we hope that it doesn't hapen again. Rememberance Day is supose to be somthing about Peace, not war, or bickering about who's military is better tha whos, or what country you are from. It is supose to remind us of all the shit that happened in wars, all the people who have been killed from them and the pointless reasons for it all. If there were no Borders, there were no small mindedness, no hatred, based on looks or nationality, then we would have progressed into a much more productive culture in the Universe and perhaps as a whole, we would find solutions to our everyday problems, like starvation, poverity, homelessness, desease, cancer, violence. Rememberance Day means more than just remembering the battles and the victories. It's not even about that at all. It's about remembering the senslessness of war and waste of life for a purpose that was not needed. Thinking about How good our military is/was, or all the victories we had won over the enemy, is just as bad as thinking about how much of a good attack the Trade Center Crashes were.... Mass Violence, War, Murders, Strategic Attacking is somthing that we no longer need in scociety. If people would just open their eyes and open their minds, they would realize how much of a better place this world would be if the fighting just fucking stopped. It's not as impossible as trying to save a child from Africa from starving, or paying a whole bounch of money. You don't even have to do anything. Just refuse to fight. Refuse to attack those whom you hate. If one person shows a peacful side to themselves, so will another, and another, until it spreads globally and others that are less fortunate, see another side of life, besides war and violence."

    Lest we forget...

For the next few days, let us remember all of those who died in combat. Canadians, Americans, British, and all the other nations. We shall be proud of our homes, and be proud of our military. We shall remember the brave, the young, and all soldiers of all wars. Lest we forget.

Why so man people like to play wwii games anyway?

I like the AI in IL. Sure, their a little slow at times. But nothings more satisfying than having your wingman take down that fighter thats been on your ass for 20 minutes. I agree with Satchel. 100%. I cant argue with what he says.

What I hate is when your windshield is covered in oil and the engine starts fire without you noticing clearly. Also aimings a bitch when your reticle is blown off. OR when a single round cuts through the canopy and kills you instantly. Im going to buy this game tomarrow. Maybe a new joystick too.

Great, you turned a modern age sniper into a wwII pilot. Now I cant get enough of this game. Even though I suck at it.

I also like the idea of teamwork. Something alot of games were missing. Also the idea of knowing whose been shot. Hell, in most games, when someone dies next to them. Do they care? I watch my entire squad walk right by my corpse in DOD when a sniper nailed me. Not a single one cared. I want teamwork to the point where I can yell at someone to fire at a window without the asshole doing something stupid. I can say where the enemy is without explaining the entire village to my troops. Voice over net? Dosent work well.

I dunno. Maybe its because I liked the idea of it. Ok, that didnt come out right. But think about it. This was an age of war heroes, great feats of technology, and alot of danger. Maybe its because Im curious of this danger. Sure, DOD may not even come close(bunny hopping?)but its as close as Ill ever get. Personally, I like the ww2 strategy games better. Since they focus more on the history and combat. Thats why I enjoyed games such as commandos and Close Combat. Both had at least some realism in there. I also like the idea of one shot, one kill. Adds even more. Now if they introduce a more realistic medical system and MG, they almost have it right. Because troops can be shot and die after awhile, and a medic cant just throw them a health pack or make them sit for 20 seconds. One thing I didnt like about OFP is that your characters shot and he shrugs it off. Sure, he walks slower or aims a bit badly, but your guy dosent experiance anything. Its a grunt, and then nothing. But that would be hard to simulate. I guess its also because I grew up watching these movies. Band of Brothers is one of my favorite miniseries. Dunno why. If someone makes a ww2 airplane simulator, Ill be happy. I always found people flying in those days gutsy. Unlike the army, you cant hide. You cant run. And your vulnerable. The only way I could ever experiance this though is to travel back in time. But I always like scratching the surface. I like seeing what others see. I only wish game and movies stayed more true to the history(Saving Private Ryan. YA! Americans were the only ones in THAT war.).

    What goes through your mind

I have never been in a combat experiance, nor do I wish to be in one. To be honest, the first thing I would do is drop. Face first in the dirt or behind some sort of cover. Surrounded or not, it would be the first impulse in my mind. What I would think? Probobly along the lines of: How the feck did I get in this shit in the first place?

    My signature

For once, yesterday, I actually picked up a book. Its name was "No Price Too High: Canadians in the Second World War." It has been collecting dust in my brothers book shelf for years now. Ever since we moved back to Canada from the United States. I've been reading this book for awhile, and I have never been so damned pleased about the Canadian Military. Sure, I always had pride in the Canadian military since both my parents were in it, but never before have I seen the history of that military in the second world war. I'm not really far, or should I say, barely started. But so far I'm pretty impressed on the article about Vimy Ridge(ww1). I was quite impressed as (I think I remember) the PPCLI came in and defeated a german position that the United States and British were taking forever to try and destroy. The strange thing about it is that the Canadian military did it very quickly and during a reinforcement. I just have to say, that I'm damn proud to be a Canadian. How I'm glad that fellow Canadians spilt blood to save both Europe and Canada. God bless Canada.

Thanks for rubbing it in.... I actually think I should get something like Gamecommander. Would help a great deal with OperationFlashpoint since it takes half a century to find the right buttons to push. Adds to the realism.
