how about the chance to get rescued? there could be random ships and planes that fly and float pass in the distance and the player would have to try and attract attention the best way they can think off?
-
Well mine on these forums is pretty unintresting. its just my name D for david, then murphy (obviusly) and just randomly added man on the end. But usually when gaming i use the nick 'Shell Shock' and too my suprise this dosent seem to be a common nic at all. I dont think ive ever seen another 'Shell shock' and i remember searching for others on gamespy and only found 5 others so meh seems pretty original.

Web-based RTS with Flashpoint AI
D.murphy man replied to DBR_ONIX's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
This looking very promising, ill be keeping an eye on it Keep up the good (and bloody fast) work! -
Yea looks like there going for the more fun frantic action approach rather then ultra hard realism. Witch i supose is a change from most other WW2 games 'claiming' to be realistic. Hence the rail gun sniper rifles and tracers in every round fired for eye candy. I might take a look when a demo is out, looks kinda fun.

Im especially happy about the new infomation on the AI. Glad to know the AI we've seen in recent videos wont be as stupid as in the final release (hopfully) Now maybe we can have some decent urban combat too
-
Well im working a new peice now, but heres a link to my deviant art profile. Take a look at some of me photoshop creations in my gallery Im working on new one as we speak.
-
Lol nice too see we can once again send vehicles into orbit with a few sarchels Hopfully be fixed by release, or at least in patches. No idea what was happening with that HMMV though, balancing on two wheels?! Reminds me of that old flying tank trick, flipping a tank upside down with your self still inti and pressing manual fire button, you dont shoot any rounds but the tank still has some kick back, keep clicking and itll take off and youll be able to fly for some time.

Heh yea that was the look i was going for! and yes his middle finger is rather large

Actully you only needed the addons that where being used on the mission that the server was running at that time. Not addons the server had. So you could be happly playing one mission on the server, then when the game ended and the next mission loaded you could be kicked for not having the right addons or mods. As for missions the client would download them from the server if they didnt have them already.

Well im pumping them out lately, havnt got a title for this one, the files simply named gasmask dude: Linky

O..M..G thoughs screen look AMAZING better then what weve seen so far. Time to linky this at the BF2 players topic in the Arma forum Thnaks BIS!! -
Ok touched up 'Nuclear picnic' too make it look a bit more dramatic. Linky
-
Pretty much so, theyll be a few replicare dead bodies ect.. but its worth the sacrafice of a few nifty (and to be honet usually 'naff) looking rag doll bodies for a huge scale combined arms battle across an entire island the size of a small country

Just to make clear, CTI means Capture The Island. This mode will be shiped with Armed Assualt where as in OFP it was a Fan created MOD/Mission where the idea was sort of a basic RTS. Each side had a commander who could build basses and research, whiles the rest of the players would have to move to and capture every town, village, and city on the entire island to earn more money. With the money the players could buy more vehicles and AI squad memebers (Up to 11 AIs per player). The game would end when either side managed to either destroy the oposing teams base (usually the side with air supiroity managed this) or to capture every town on the island (this was a rare occurance) Although with Armed Assualt the CTI mode may be slightly different then the one in todays OFP itll more or likely be one of the more populuar modes being played on servers just like today. Dont expect any fast games whiles playing this mode mind, these games usually took hours to play. But with join in progress now implemented id imagine servers running the same CTI game for days on end with players droping in and out 24/7 to rage a constant battle. Edit: Also dont expect any thing like Half Life 2 standerds in graphics with Armed Assualt. Although the graphics wont be on par with many of todays corridoor shooters and screens you may of seen with next gen titles the true greatness in this game will be in the game play, the constant stream of addons, missions, mods and utilites to keep it fresh and exciting playing experience and not the eye candy. Plus you also get islands so huge it would take you several hours to walk across in real time, whiles enjoying the lively scenery, wildlife and weather And if you took long enough, the night and day cycle.

Keep in mind OFP (and armed assualt) may not be to every ones liking. Many people get put off by the sheer unforgiven realism of it all and fact it doesnt handel or play like a traditional FPS shooter. One shot is usually enough to kill you. And you wont be able to run and shoot at the same time and be able to hit any thing beyond a few meters away if your lucky. Try to approach the game with an open mind and not like your typicle FPS. If you and your clan mates do decide to stick with OFP you'll find a very close knit, mature, and friendly community willing to help you out with any thing, especially if your fancy trying your hand with extreamly user friendly mission editor built in to the game, or addon making.

Im really suprised I havnt even heard of this intill now! How long had it been in development?
-
Yea right... Just about every game today isnt released bug free. Theres only so much beta testing that can be done by the developers before they have to release it. With the release the most you can expect is no game stoping bugs. But there will undoubtly be a few little bugs here and there. Buts thats what after release patches are for. And knowing BIS they might also add new content with some of there patches like before for OFP. Thats my take on things any way

Fabulous flying & firing machines in ArmA?
D.murphy man replied to ricnunes's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I belive its taken from one of the videos. -
Well just played the mission, its very fun and entertaining for a quick blast. Not much of a story nor very complex, which makes for a great relaxing quick gore fest with hordes of zombies. I also recomend to play this with ECP on for the nice blood effects when the zombie civs get shot I only managed to keep one of my squad members alive towards the end of the mission who died just at the last moment as he went to exit the fule truck and enter the chopper. Also i found the mission to get pretty choppy and cpu intensive in parts due to the sheer ammount of zombies, but it was still playble. After playing I have one or two suggestions and ideas: 1.How about when you reach the factory there are still soldiers left alive, and place down a few of thoughs training obiscles that look like /----\ next to the walls and have the soldiers setposunit "up" and standing on them so they can fire and see over the walls lining the factory complex. Edit: incase you wasnt sure what i ment: Example screen 1 From here the player could choose to keep his men at the factory to help defend it from the hordes as you go and retreave the fuel truck.(maybe add some sort of end game score thats subtracted from for every soldier lost in the mission as an insentive to protect the factory and soldiers init) then once the fuel truck is back lock the chopper for x ammount of minutes and say "the chopper is refueling! defend the base for as long as it takes!" then start spawning larg groups of zombies around the base from which the player and AI soldiers have to fight off! Maybe add a few M2 machine guns if its too hard. After that the remaining AI soldiers that where at the factory before you and your squad, automaticly board the chopper in passanger seats and wait for your and your squad to board and escape!
