    Idea of inaccurate fire.

there used to be this really shitty game, don't remember what it was called, but it had 2d sprites for iron sights. The two sprites moved independent of each other and they shook around and stuff, and that was about the only cool thing about that game that and it had the Stechkin APS pistol w/ wire stock

    OFP2/XBOX???

the game is usually dumbed down to console levels if it's cross platform e.g. BIA very bad game that BIA is.
  3. Mattijs could you send me your current work? I won't be able to contribute much, but I've always wanted to mod something and I've also always wanted to create my perfect soldier, and perfect army organization. well to my liking or not, It would be nice if you sent me the tweaked model

    Brother in Arms

actually a WWI game could be VERY suspensful and tense, if you were a late war German sturmpionier imagine infiltrating the enemy trench with the rest of your platoon or company at night, and as the attack is launched you're the first one in the trench, with riflebutts, trench club and grenades at hand. maybe even an Mp-18 I actually think that would make for a kickass shooter. mow the tommie down !!! ARG!!! shit! we lost! damn!

    RED ORCHESTRA

bahphomet that was in the older versions in 3.0 + there is freeaim when you aren't aiming down the sights
  6. for example when you're building a really cool sandbag setpos fort that gets ruined by the M2 or what have you rotating 180 and the guy manning it gets stuck in some sand bags. I'd like to suggest that BIS place a seperate dial feature on the facing compass that can be resized to restrict the degrees a mount can traverse both horizontally and vertically.

    Small suggestion

like this red is the direction the object is pointing towards, jsut like in regular ofp the green lines represent the amount that object's turret is able to traverse it would appear as in regular ofp, but there would be a circle in the middle, you click on that circle and the two green lines appear at the 90 and 270 positions, one can then move them to any angle. also, please make the angle adjustable with the mouse wheel
  8. Denwad

    Small suggestion

yes, but I would like to FURTHER restrict that say for example m2 can rotate 360 degrees, but I want it to rotate only 30 the NSV can rotate ~28 degrees, I want it to rotate 5 I don't want to have to create a seperate addon for such things, my addon list is already crowded enough.

    OFP2 on DVD / 4 CD's

umm, that'd probably fill up 4 dual-layer DVDs lol well who knows, maybe blu-ray will be what DVD drives are now

    squad control?

perhaps they mean you are a platoon leader in a platoon HQ team/squad and you can also control the leaders of the platoons under you same with company/battalion commanders

    OFP2 - Rainbow Six

the G-11 is not a modern gun, it's 20 years old.
  12. seriously, everyone is crying about the release date, the original game took four years to develope and they haven't even started developing OFP 2 beyond concepts and stuff. I'll happily wait two years.

    Voice commands

After playing the game Enigma I had a great idea. Ordering your squad to change formation and stop, advance, target this and that was very clunky. Voice recognition software would be really cool, you could use your microphone instead of your keyboard to order you squad. You could say "Take cover" and the whole squad would take cover, or "One, Take Cover!" or if you really know your squad you could call out their name. {EDIT} I would also like an "intelligent" recogonition that would interpret what you say and attempt to execute like "Bob, Rob, set up your machinegun by that bush and shoot anything that moves!" would be interpreted into "8,9 goto bush 12 o'clock fire at will" but if you spit out random babble the AI would say "what?" Â and it could make mods like CoC much easiers "move company A to Petrovice and setup our mortars in the field over there" over there would be where your courser is pointing at the moment.

New military RTS game under development

Well you never know, I remember a promising game called Kombat, it's been a few months and the site has been down since. It had a really interesting premise, you can command a whole division and then if you'd like zoom to squad level {EDIT} Durr they changed their stupid Kombat title to Officers. www.officers-game.com omg for a game with 15,000 soldiers of which 500 you can control at any time the graphics are phenomenal. of course, it's about the gameplay

    Damage models

include a realistic penetration model. for example, a LAW has ~300mm of penetration, if you shoot an 800mm piece of steel (T-80 has some sort of composite) it'll make a crater but other than that nothing will happen. Infact LAWs skipped off of armor alot. For example I used to have a manual on US weapons, it did not recommend firing a law at the front of a BMP because of the angles on the front, the LAW was likely to skip off. also be able to have optics shot out, be able to make periscopes useless etc.

Scars' Leopard II A6 BETA 1

depleted uranium also bursts into flames when it strikes armor, I believe. I also doubt that a 40mm penetrator is going to cause any significant over-pressure. The only reason T-72's blow up so much IRL is because of their poor ammunition storage. For example the Ukranians developed a T-80 with a western 120mm and an autoloader with ammunition in the turret basket like the Abrams, complete with blow-out panels The Black Eagle also has this system IIRC. btw don't quote me on the overpressure thing, I'm not really sure.

    Around the corner gun

you don't have to expose *any* of the body.
  20. I have 2500+, 1024mb DDR PC-2700, FX-5900SE etc etc.. it should be working with the reflections but it's not, odd..

    No jump

jumping/climbing over low walls and branches doesn't need to require a seperate action, it should be integrated with the W key. If you walk over a small branch the game automatically steps over it. If you want to get over a wall hit shift and W and you'll climb over it. Less buttons!
  22. kinda like in the Combat Mission games (www.battlefront.com) or WWIIOL (www.wwiionline.com) where there is realistic penetration (minus armor stressing). I believe this is in OFPI in a limited quality, i've died in a T-80 plenty of times without the vehicle becoming inoperable. A LAW (66mm) can penetrate around 300mm, if you shoot a T-80 frontally (~1000mm) it wouldn't do crap, and because of the angled surfaces have a good chance of skipping off. I used to have a Army manual that showed where to shoot a BMP with a law, they said frontally wasn't advised because of the large frontal plate angled down and because the gun was usually pointed forward. Also, if the round does penetrate, the inside of the vehicle should come into consideration. Fuel, ammuntion, electronics, hydraulics and crewmembers can be struck by a penetrating projectile and spalling materials. If a round breaks up outside the armor, infantry around the vehicle can be struck with fragments of the vehicle's armor and the projectile itself. [edit] in short, no hitpoints.
  23. Denwad

    Realistic penetration model.

Yes, angle plays a pretty big role in penetration. it is significantly harder to penetrate a plate at 60 degrees than it is a 0 or 30 degrees.

    Silent hunteriii

apparently SHIII is underfire from the sim grognards because it's going to be ALOT more 'arcade' than SHII or SH. On the www.subsim.com forums there are more details on it and the speculation. Mind you, these are the guys who say "WTF that sonar room is totally wrong! GAAAAAAY!"
  25. but once that buggy moves....
