So let me get this straight, you don't like the explosions, why? They don't shoot huge fireballs into the air like a desiel charge used in holiwood? Smoke and derbis is all you're going to see unless you take something out with a ton of fuel in it. A fuel truck would go sky high, but that's about it.

I found the LOD bias, but I couldn't find where to set the Digital Vibrance.
What else can I do to make my graphics sharper? Â And how high are these risks of doing this?<span id='postcolor'>
The LOD Bias defaults to 0, but setting it to a negative value yields better visual quality with a slight performance hit. You should also try different levels of anisotropic filtering, which helps clean up texture artifacts.
The Digital Vibrance feature isn't available on all NVIDIA cards. For example, the GeForce2 GTS cards don't support it, while the GeForce2 MX cards all do, I believe. It is in the color adjustment section that has an icon with a multi-colored monitor.<span id='postcolor'>
That's right, right beside the opengl button (you can adjust the LOD bias for opengl as well) The mx has it (my last card) and the gf4 has it (my new card, yeah baby
), not sure about gf3, but that would make sense. The only thing to remember is that it gives the colours more pop, so if you are working on digital photos or art the colours won't represent what they will print like, so be forwarned.COLINMAN

Yeap, when you open up riva tuner and click on the little tap to customize driver settings the and go into directx, the first tab is mipmapping and that slider is LOD bias. The default is zero, but slide down some more (not too far because what will happen is that the textures will aliase and look rough, you have to find a balance, around -1.3 for me ) What this does is forces the mipmapping to use higher detail textures further away with a drop in performance. You can move into the positive and it will blur closer textures, but speed things up as well.
Also click on the ?mark beside the close box in the top right hand corner and click on any function in Rivatuner and a popup help will tell you what it does.

You need a nvidia card. If you do then get a tweak program ( I use rivatuner) and go into textures. You need to lower the LOD bias of the textures down to -1.3 to -1.5. Also if you can set the digital vibrance then turn it up. This will make OFP look better.

when all else fails theres always the stop command
<span id='postcolor'>Haven't thought about that. I understood the disengage command as a orderly retreat command. If you look at the faq it's supposed to make the men move back, but still shoot, so I never thought of doing that.
I have been telling my men to stop, but damn if they could actually stay together in a formation as they move. One guy is usually still back at the start point when the leader says 'ready'. (this is one area that GR does better than OFP, the movement of a squad, either covering each other, or stay together, don't have to worry about that, then again, I can't split those groups apart if I need to)

uhm, I think he said pc+monitor, so it could be around $3000-$3500 if he has a good pc and a nice monitor.

I think the worst example I've had yesterday was I had a sniper rifle and one of my squad was also a sniper. He wasted 4 mags taking the first objective in the mission ( take out the 4 vulcans in Red Hammer ) So I traded my Dragnov for a M-21 on a dead guy and preseded to try to order my sniper to pick up the now available Dragnov mags on the ground. He was standing right beside me and kept saying negative. Finally I picked up the Dragnov again, moved to another soldier and swithed guns with him, ordered my sniper over and positioned him right ontop of the rifle on the ground. Finally he was able to pick up the mags. Damn it took me 20min to get him to rearm. Maddning. Really wish there was a scavage command. Your men try to find ammo after a battle or find a similiar rifle if no ammo is found. Would make it a lot easier.

I've noticed this lately, don't know if this is from the new patches or not, but when I tell some men to move to a certain spot they move there then start wondering all over the place. I'm trying to do a bounding overwatch across the terrain, but my red team doesn't stay where I tell them. I have to give them a 'hold' command when they get to position, which is uneccessary work for me. Why aren't they staying where I tell them? This goes for any combat posture I give them, aware, stealth, danger, etc.
Also I am finding that even though I give my men the 'advance' command they aren't doing it, nor are they flanking left or right on command. Does the mission need waypoints set for my squad for them to advance when ordered? I thought this sent them ahead by 50 yards using cover. This is in the Red Hammer campaign.

OMFG take your Ridlin and calm down there boy. What exactly does this have to do with OFP? If anywhere why don't you post your ramblings in offtopic where they belong. This is a discussion board for OFP, not to serve some prepubescent kid's need for attention. You, your topics and your esclamation points are starting to annoy me and everyone else. Please try to make factfull and relevent conversation here. Everything else should go to offtopic if anywhere.

edit...
If you want to download it you go to the Codemaster website and look for the download option for the Red Hammer upgrade. It downloads like a patch and goes directly into your OFP program, so there isn't anyway to save it. If you reformat or delete OFP you lose it. It's like $7us to download. If you want a hard copy you need to buy the upgrade in store and that one inlcudes the stratagy guild.

What's up with the spam? You're last 'charactor poll' was, like, 24 hours ago.

Be sure to have your soldiers or soldier that you want to target the enemy already selected. (ie the green box around their number) then when you use the binoculers or just look at them the square box that is used to tell them to move should turn into a target symbol when it is over the enemy. Just left click and you've assigned a target.

Its haxor speek. Basically a bunch of kids sort of created the electronic equivalent of a 'secret langauge' like pig latin. L33t is 'leet' or short of 'elite'. It's called elite speak because they only understand it so they are elite. Basically they phonically spell everything and insert different charactors for letters that have the same shape or mirror or what ever. I don't understand it and don't use it, but I do understand l33tn3ss and stay far away from it.

I think it started in forums that had automated censors so they could talk about pirating and hacking without their posts being deleted. Same idea how 'warez' got it's name. At first I thought it was 'war-azz' like they declared war on the establishment by pirating, but I gave too much credit
It's 'wear-zz' like in software.COLINMAN

What's wrong with liking both? I come from the flight sim community and there many games are liked and flown by the people. Sure there are comparisions between the different games, but in the end everyone usually agrees that they like to fly both. Here the GR and OFP camps are so confrontational. It's all one or the other and the other 'suxs'. Why? I like both and play both. I'd argue the strengths and weakness of both no problem, but in the end I play both.
Where's the love?

Why aren't publishers allowed to make money? I don't know about you, but if I was running a company and I had a product I could produce on a different platform for a minimal amount of money and make huge profits, well I'd do it. How is making money evil? Same for Microsoft. They are doing what a smart business should. Secure esclusive material for their platform to create demand for their product. Smart business and a good way to make money.
Now I don't worry about 'all the good games not being on pc but xbox or some other platform' for a good reason. There will always be upstarts waiting in the wings to make something new. I mean look at BIS. Did anyone know about them before OFP? This game came out of left field for me. I tried the demo and I was hooked. The PC is the easiest platform for the small developer to code for. They don't have to worry about licences or royalties. A couple guys can create a game out of their house for a minimal amount of money.
Maybe we won't see the headline games that the media hypes, but most of them suck anyways. There will always be companies like ID and others creating for the PC.

Ha, now that's funny. You know when you are screwed when the mods start flaming you.
My suggestion, go back to DF3, it's a game that has been designed with the P3 2ghz in mind and takes full advantage of it through the pirotechnics. Unfortunatly OFP doesn't handle that proc quite as well as you have pointed out.
