  1. Prob not, though he is a handsome looking fella if I say so myself smile.gif

There just picks from the defaut avatars. I haven't got around to making a web page just to host sigs and avatars. Guess call me lazy.

Oh yeah, what was this topic about? I've haven't really noticed what rounds the AI is shooting at me, I'm too busy dieing our trying not to get hit so I haven't even thought about it.

  2. What, no one has taught you the secret handshake? Well, there's your problem.

Seriously, maybe you need to wait awhile for the server to authorize your account. It has sent you an automanted activation, but it may not be authorized. Just guessing here. How long ago did you register?

Don't they have that reddish brown camo and the little square brim hats, looks good to me.

  4. Not going to argue with you on that one, you know how to do your homework smile.gif For me I guess what I thought as a shockwave effect was the white smoke before the yellow. Never really slowed it down or really looked at it that much. Not part of the game that does it for me.

One game that the whole effect is really good for hand gernades going off (never thrown one in RL, just the impression) is MOHAA. That game has amazing sound, the gernades just feel right with a good set of speakers. Tossing one of those bad boys in a bunker room just feels good. No huge fireball, just the sound of chunks of concrete falling down. Nice.

... They look quite like an explosion (shockwave) and not  just burning gas as in half-life etc.<span id='postcolor'>

You playing another version of OFP than i do biggrin.gif?<span id='postcolor'>

I don't see a shockwave like some flightsims draw expanding around a detination, but OFP does seem to push a lot of dust derbis out of an explosion that would be raised by a shock wave. Also The bright flash with no sound before the explosion also add to the effect. I think that explosions at night are really nice and the day ones are good as well. There is a lot fo dust/smoke and only a small amout of pyrotechnics. I don't really mind the little orange balls, they get the job done verses a texturemaped fireball. More black smoke when a vehicle hit to represent the desiel burning would be nice though as would small pockets of fire after hitting a vehicle as the fuel slowly burns off after being splashed around. I guess the whole burning/smoking effect should last longer and should be an option for the people with machines that could handle it.

On another note, Toolman why so sensitive? The facelessness of the internet causes people to be especially visious when you stick your head up you ass (perfect example there, except I would prob tell a friend the same to the face, but that's just me). But then again I could be a fat slob with no life sitting here attacking people because I could never do that in RL. So take a smug attitude and think that everyone is below you and their opinions mean nothing to you and let the shit slide off. You'll feel better from it smile.gif

Nope, that's got to be my fav as well. Have you tried Devil Chasers new 'Break and Enter' mission? You are a gunner on a M2A2. Pretty good, if a little buggy. Love the Chain Gun/MG/TOW combo. Feels so good raising hell in.

  7. Yeah, an updated Tornado would be nice, though when I think about it I spend very little time actually flying. Most of the time was under terrain following and doing the navigator stuff.

I bought IL-2 and it is a very nice sim, but it re-enforces the same thing when I got WWII fighters and Pacific Air War: I'm no good at prop sims biggrin.gif It's hard for me to get into. I can fly and fight all day in a jet, manage my energy in a knife fight, but in a prop I loose all skill sad.gif I stall, I spin, I can't hit anything. I've gone a long tiime in Il-2 without a kill. I slow things right down to 1/4 speed even and zoom in through the gun sight and I can never get the plane smooth, there is always a wobble and with the hitboxes in the game, I shoot most of my ammo into the air. I downloaded some training tracks and watch another guy and his gunnery. How does he fly so smooth? Man I need a heatseeker then all this persision flying don't matter smile.gif

I think OFP is a crappy flight sim but you can do most things in both games like having ground forces designate targets. I liike flying sometimes in ofp especially kegetys new Hawk. I'd like to see him develop some more planes.<span id='postcolor'>

Well USAF isn't that far off of OFP tounge.gif . Just kidding. I never got into that sim. Picked it up for $10, but the controls just felt mushy and it was like the planes were moving through water, just didn't have snap ya know? I loved ATF/NATO fighters on my 486 so when I got the new box I thought this was the conitunation of that grand series, just didn't feel right to me. Would like to try the new patches to see if they do anything, but now I've got xp on my box, so it doesn't work, rats.

    "2 gunner get in chopper"

    "2 gunner get in chopper"

Mines even worse, My group leader will tell me to go into BRDM. For some reason my guy answer's (if I'm per say 3) "3 Is Down", "Status Red", "Fuel Low", and the lastly "Needs Repairs".  And to top that, my ai won't even go to their assigned waypoints! wow.gif<span id='postcolor'>

Have you tried to tell them to return to formation before asking them to go to next waypoint? Seems that this solved my problem of team mates not responding to the flank left/right command. Like I said before if I ordered them to move somewhere, I need to issue return to formation before telling them the next command.

    Maybe this will help

    I don't use unoffical addons. I don't have Satchel's sound mod then.<span id='postcolor'>

Ok I figured it out. If I tell my men to move to a position, ie select man then click where I want them to go, then tell them to advance, nothing. Now if I tell them to return to formation, then advance, flank left, flank right, they will do it. Weird eh? Now this is something that should and could be fixed.

Also when I tell my men to move to a position they don't stay there. If I don't tell them to stop they will wonder off and get themselves killed and tip the enemy off that we are there.

The AI is definitly a little wonky with the last patch. I don't remember having this problem before.

    I don't remember having this problem now. tounge.gif<span id='postcolor'>

    Really?

Man it sucks right now. Come to think of it, Advance, flank left and flank right aren't working either. I give the orders to my red team and they just sit there. My tatics for fighting aren't working and it's frustrating me to no end.

Time to experiment. Are you running Satchel's sound mod? I'll try disabling that and see what happens.

  12. You can adjust the effectiveness of flares you know. It's a command line thing and should be in the back of your manual.

Also go to the page I mentioned back earlier in this thread. It has a new exe that changes a lot in the ground war and there is a lot of new campaigns on the screen as well.

Also the simhq board will help you tweak the game to your liking. Just go to www.simhq.com.

It's an older one and has a really good terrain engine. I was never able to try it either b/c I was flying my 486 when it came out. I was stuck many years playing Falcon3,Tornado and Fleet Defender on that box before I got my current one. Guess I could have had it worse smile.gif

The engine is actually used in the game Project Im Going In. Guess it's the first flight-sim engine used for a FPS.

  15. Mods still work after red hammer. Just be aware that if you download Red Hammer you do not have a hard copy of the addon and if you have to reinstall OFP you'll lose Red Hammer. It downloads right into OFP like a patch and there is no way of saving it seperate.

  16. For me Falcon 4 with SP2 is really good, but it has gone too far in the avionics modelling. Don't get me wrong, I love fiddling with switches, but I can't fly it anymore. I guess the thing that really got me was the new maverick uncaging, firing steps. I just can't get a good lock on a target anymore and I'm always rushing to do something in the combat zone.

Man it gives me new apreciation of what those guys do when they fly and fight. Everything has to be automatic. Myself I don't have the time to get that good at a flight-sim so some dumbing down is needed.

Really looking forward to LOMAC though. I'm saving up for a new mb/ram/proc combo in antispation that I will need it. I've got the graphics muscle now in a gf4, but my 1ghz o/c at 1.3 duron with 133 sdram is my bottleneck now.

  17. Hey, it's not too bad. I suggest you post your topic in the Ghost Recon forum and keep it the same, but change OFP to GR so you are saying the DF3 explosions are better than GR, then sit back and let the shit fly. Oh yeah if you could sneak in the P3 2Ghz it would make all the better. The people over there are evil and visious smile.gif
