    I hate hotmail!

Weird. I use my hotmail for everything and I don't have any filters on and I get around 10spams a week. Nothing really too bad and it takes me all of a second to delete them so I'm happy. COLINMAN

    Blackhawk down

Actually the guy who raped the girl was removed from the movie. So the reviewer has no point there. As for the rest of the review it seems the reviewer is bent on American bashing. (please not that I'm not an American, but Canadian) First off the movie was in production long before Sept 11, so it wasn't a reaction to it. The movie isn't about the politics or if the action was right or wrong, but about how the individual men in the situation rised above it with bravery to survive. That's what I got from the movie: That warfare is hell and people do extrodinary things in the face of death. The Americans refused to leave anyone behind and I repect them for that. Should they have been there? I don't know, you can't win that arguement. And how is this a blow to the truth? The warlords were hording the foot and people were dying. Everyone would shame the Americans if they looked away, and when they did get involved, again they did it wrong. But my question is, could anyone do it right? I don't think so. As for a tatical battle, the Americans slaughtered the Somilies. 500+ to 18. That's a lopsided victory if I ever saw one. As for portaying the Somalis in a bad light. Well the warlords and their men were/are evil. They put their own power ahead of the lives of their own people. I don't feel sorry for a single person that decided to pick up a rifle against the American force. I don't think the Americans are perfect, but for a country as powerful as it is, I think they are doing a good job in a area that they cannot win, or anyone else could either. The world's policeman position sucks, but everyone looks to the Americans whenever something happens and when they react everyone is against it. Well make up your mind then. COLINMAN

    Joysticks fix

Yeah saving is an option, but there are so many upgrades I need. My A7V motherboard is at the end of its life as I need DDR memory, faster bus speeds etc for upgrades, my vid card should last for a while, a new cpu would be nice, upgrading sound would be cool, another bigger monitor is on the list...etc. Hard to prioritize. I find I only play F4 right now so I don't have to reprogram the throttle that much and imagine once LOCMAC is released that will be the main game. I"m kinda proud that my pro throttle is around 8 years old and still works like a charm, same with the stick. Really 8 years for some hardware is amazing. COINMAN

    Why is ofp rated "m"?

Guess since I'm well over 18 I wouldn't care about restrictive ratings, but still I think that some games like SOFII and GFAIII should be controlled who they are sold to. It forces parents to get involved in what their children are doing by making them purchase what they are getting for their children. I'm all for the involvement of parents in their childrens lives. Personally when I have children the computer will be in a central location so I know what they are looking at on the net and what they are playing. COLINMAN

    Peripheral vision in ofp?

Still with the Matrox card I wonder how much the 3 display mode would be used. I mean 3 monitors is a lot of money and a huge footprint, and 3 LCDs would be even more money. I've got a dual display capable card, but all I've got as a second monitor is an old 14'' from my 486. Not the best solution and I have a lot of other upgrades I'd rather do than buy a second monitor, especially b/c if I buy a new monitor it would have to be better than the old one, so it would cost a ton of money. I believe some of the more advanced ones actually adjust the fuse as data is fed from it from the radar so the bursts are around the altitude of the target aircraft. I have read many acounts from pilots from the Gulf War about how close they came to the areas of flak. Often it is setup in a barrage in a certain area, kind of like suppressive fire to deny entry for the plane. Iraq was successful with this against Tornado's that tried to bomb the runways. They had to fly down the runway so the just set up a box of fire infront of it. Shot down a few like that I believe. COLINMAN

    Should i buy...

That's a little grey, now if you like it and keep it, then yes definatly. Is this just trying it out for a night, or keeping it saying I'll buy it eventually? Most games have a demo, and I sometimes buy it right out depending on the company. I bought JKII and SOFII right away and I liked them. Same with LOMAC when it comes out. Not going to wait for a demo of that. But if I'm not sure I'll troll the net and read some reviews in mags and decide if it's what I want. MOHAA was like that. I hated the demo, but there was so much good press on it I ended up getting it and it was pretty good. COLINMAN

Who's the fattest male at these forums?

Well, I've always been big framed, so I carry my weight easily. I've had some friends like you that would eat a ton and wouldn't gain anything, their matabalism is too high. It will change for you. I bet once you hit 20ish and use the gym regularly you could build a really nice physic. Damn skinny kids like you always seem to be able to do that once they mature. Being big sucks, especially when you have to buy your own food. Never though of it when I was growing up, but when I went away to University it hit me huge. Part of it was the fact that I was playing basketball and we were training a total of around 4hrs a day. I would eat over 6000 caleries a day and still lose weight over the season. It's a little better now, I need around 2500-3000 to maintain my weight, but still I can spend $400-500 a month on food. Then there are these girls that I work with and they spend like $150 a month. Damn, being small has some perks I guess COLINMAN

    Should i buy...

For an action game I think it is pretty good. A lot of the firefights have me sprinting from cover to cover, leaning out and firing a quick burst or throw a gernade, then duck back again and move. I like the action. The ai is pretty good, they use gernades well and also toss flashbangs to get you. I've also seen them draw their secondary instead of reloading their rifle because it is quicker. If you want realism it sucks, but as an action game it's pretty good. Don't like the spawning, but I can live with it. And piracy sucks huge. I hope you get a virus that brings down your system if you download the game. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple. But if any of you asses are pirates I don't want you part of the OFP community. There has to be some integraty here. It's no different than if you came in and started giving away OFP to people. So fuck off if you pirate. COLINMAN

    Joysticks fix

The pro throttle is basically a keyboard and has a port for the keyboard port and the gameport. I can program, say a-z or whatever into the buttons, then if the game uses a keysetup screen then I can reassign all the keys in the game to the buttons, but That's not the best option. Unfortunalty the pro throttle uses the keyboard port, so I'm stuck until I spring for the saitech or win the lotto and get a couger. COLINMAN

    Why is ofp rated "m"?

How is a rating wrong? How does it effect the way people play the game? I for one don't care. I think things should be rated to better help parents make decisions, especially if they are not familiar with gaming and what goes on in them. If I had a 10year old, would I want him playing OFP? I don't know. That's a hard question. I know there are games I wouldn't let my child play until he is older. Just makes sense and rating help with that. COLINMAN

I think things like indirect fire pieces like artillery and mortars are best left to being simulated with scripts and whatnot. Because you wouldnt really get much satsfaction from manning them yourself (I wouldnt anyway) cause you wouldnt even get to see if you killed anything. And on top of that, putting them in along side an already huge battle would just eat up memory and slow things down. It sounds cool, but for me, it would just take things down more. I can simulate a bombarded area perfectly with sounds, explosions, and everything already.<span id='postcolor'> No, you could have the fun of firing off a few rounds, then rushing to pack everything up and move your ass before the counter-battery fire comes. Why is ofp rated "m"?

See, you've been desensitised by games like SOF I don't know about you, but there is gore, not pools of blood, but when you come across a truck that got hit by something big and the driver is halfway through the windshield with his face missing, that's pretty gory IMHO. OFP is a mature game that portrays warfare and why not rate it? Doesn't effect me. I don't look at the rating of a movie/video game. I would if I was a parent. I would never let my children play games like SOF and GFA until they are old enough (16ish). COLINMAN

    Realism or not?

I'm sorry, but CS is not in any way a realistic game. From cone fire to bunny hopping real world tatics don't work. Is OFP as realistic as possible, no it is not, but you can use RL tatical doctrine and win a battle. Consealment is important and picking your fight is as well. Running and gunning will get you killed. Now CS is multiplayer only and is based on CQB so engagments are never than 50m so the two games don't even compare. MOHAA is just an action game with a WWII wrapper on it and says nothing otherwise. It's also a really good action game so I like it. But to state that CS is the benchmark for realism is wrong. On the note that being able to drive and fly all the vehicles as unrealistic. Maybe hopping from one to the other is, ie infantry man wouldn't jump into a tank and wreck havoc, but OFP is a step forward that the whole combined armed battle field is modelled and the player can choose how he fits into it. Obviously it would have to be a hit on the turret and penitrate the crew compartment, but that's why use a rapid fire cannon instead of a slower rate of fire, to satrate the taret. COLINMAN
