3 questions - help a newbie
Dawdler replied to jeppelykke's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
1) www.ofpeditingcenter.com 2) Mission is downloaded automatically 3) Use the cycle waypoint (place for instance W1, W2, W3, CYCLE (this close to W1)) -
I used this for a little smoke script a while ago: _pos = getPos iH _x = _pos select 0 _y = _pos select 1 _z = _pos select 2 #loop _smoke = "SMOKETYPE" camCreate [_x,_y,_z] ~0.5 camDestroy _smoke Goto "loop" NOTE: Smoketype is just a small little addon config with your own smoke. iH is just a little invisible H. NOTE 2: OFP CAN GO WIERD!!!! At one time I used a lot of smoke, it worked fine walking around it, 30+ fps, when I closed within 2m though it went in 1 fps, walking out again, 30 fps... The longer I played, the slower the fps when closing the smoke... It shouldnt do this with this script though. Ask someone else about the smoketype... I think I made an ammo that was like it or something.

Nice... Though the link to that movie (at least from the english version) is broken... Maybe its so few that find their way there because its so hard to actually get there (sorry, but the site is kind of complicated, but very good looking ) And then it may be the reason when one load the forum all one see is german... Had that problem the other way around on the I44 forum for german guests

Its not the polycount that cause lag in MP... There isnt a way to reduce it. Well, there is, like removing everything from a map and so, but it isnt a good solution...

This: The APTAAPBS: All Purpose Terrain And Armoured Personel Bike System.

I missed that when I tried at first
-
Dont think there really is an upper limit. Most OFP models are at about 1500 polys at highest LOD detail. Use the p3d converter to check out the demo models.

I havent noticed anything about mods having Oxygen on that site... If one had oxygen there would be ingame shots of completely new units... There arent...
-
OFP is not real. So why have real sound? Never gonna happen. Though I hope OFP:Resistance has some new cool sounds with it
-
There shouldnt be a difference with in online or offline... Its the same system... Did everyone have the addon? Well, I suppose so, or it wouldnt start for them... The M1Garand is otherwise just simply a rifle, as everything else.

And yes, it would be nice with a WW2 setting for OFP I know the I44 team sure think its going to be nice

Sweeet... I cant wait to run over fins with it Or russians for that matter

In comparison, I44 has "357 threads in total | 7088 posts in total" and Wintermarch "(200 posts (161 replies to 39 Topics)". Yes, cars and trucks are the most deadly things there is. Kills thousands... That's why both east and west ganged up once upon a time in OFP to attack all empty vehicles
-
Yes, it is a nice idea, and could really be needed... Its annoying trying to get out of a tank while on a small hill... Precedure: PUSHES FORWARD "Yes, can click get..." *Rolls back, command menu dissapear* PUSHES FORWARD "NOW! CLI..." *Rolls back, command menu dissapear* PUSHES FORWARD "GET OUT, FAST!" *Finally gets out, tank stands nicely beside, as if it has decided to get into break mode just to tease the player...*

I for one will not. And I suggest others to do the same.<span id='postcolor'> We have no obligation to care about your ranting. Concerning playability, im my oppinion, GR vs OFP: I played GR demo for 1 hour, then got tired of messy controls I am still playing OFP Why such anger towards BIS? At least they have decided to release it anyway, even if its not ready. Sure, its to more dedicated fans and mods (actually only fans, they give it to individuals, not groups) and not everybody, but I guess there are many games out there that hasnt even seen a modkit, let alone such an advanced kit as BIS. Go complain on them instead.

I dont even bother giving any suggestions how BIS could change things in OFP because they wont do it anyways because some suggestions are too hard to implement and because most of the people are idiots who have no sense what kind of changes would actually make game more realistic. Would only waste my time writing same things over and over again. It seems to be so that only people who have done military service realise how things should work.<span id='postcolor'> Who cares? Its a game and thus gameplay we are talking about.

It is no problem, I dont need it anyway (Im not sure if I could find it on my harddrive). It was one of the first scenes I made, a nice landarea with water and a few trees and a nice village, with a man infront looking at it all. Guess it would have been best to not add a huge numbered meshsmooth to them all The tree looked nice though, kind of like stick with a lump of jelly on top, so thick in mesh view, it looked like a solid tree

it would make battle more realilistic and more fun.<span id='postcolor'> Wouldnt it be kind of smarter to heal on spot and send them into battle again? The thing is, the medic isnt a bad idea, but people simply die to much. 9/10 times in a firefight (when you die and not the enemy), you die. You could care less if there was a medic around that one time, it happens rarely. The only way the medic would be really usefull is if they make more serious wounds, possible hurting while having a wound (not much though, you probably have to run a while to get to a medic).

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">How does it compare in-terms of crashing? That seems to be my biggest complaint with 3dsmax - Near constant crashing, atleast 2 times per hour Is lightwave less prone to crashes? <span id='postcolor'> My system had the same problems once... Was kind of annoying. I found out though that it was the OpenGL driver that made it crash, Heidi worked perfectly (slightly slower though). Otherwise, like Slider131 said, its likely to be something in the system, not 3DSMAX itself... On the other hand, we might have stumbled upon the reason games are delayed so much
