  1. Quote[/b] ]A local expert says there's no chance of the draft coming back, especially in an election year.

"To institute a draft when you need only a tiny percentage of the population to serve in the military would inevitably be divisive, because it would raise questions of who serves and who doesn't serve," UF history professor Robert McMahon says.

    Do you accept my bet?

  2. Yeah but the gun shouldn't fire more than once, reguardless of lag, if the message is only coming from one place.

    Speaking of MP.

    THE AMMO BUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Why can't we fix this?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!!

    It's killed so many maps!!!!

  3. I would apply those to Iraq now? What are you talking about?

"Ambushed at close quarters and charged head first into the enemy."

If anyone who did this was given a silver star we would run out of them.

You took my words out of context, AGAIN. I was saying it was easy to accuse someone of something like draft dodging, cowardice, or war mongering 30 years ago and impossible to prove it either way.

PS - Walker, I will bet you 50 ego points that there will be no draft.

  4. The plane he flew was almost used in Vietnam.

Bush dodging the draft? I could just as easily say Kerry went to Vietnam for glory and personal reasons, but that would be out of line, and could easily be wrong. You can't be so black and white with people's motives.

A draft would ruin the military. GWB knows this. Congress knows this.

  5. I believe it was Paul Bremer, the man that the media loved to quote when he said "We didn't have enough troops" (referring to the time of the invasion), has said that we do have enough troops there right now.

    There will be no draft.

Why are we bringing the swift boat thing up again? The article only mentions one Vietcong anyway, despite saying that there were 18 there, no detail is given to them. Just "they were there". Did they leave? Did they stay and fight? The fact is that this incident was not "above and beyond" relative to the tens of thousands of incidents that Vietnam veterans did not get awards for.

Edited to add source after sifting through thousands of liberal blogs:

May ask for subscription, but I got in fine on this address.

  6. I know I said 99% done, but I have decided to re-do a couple things, but it won't be too much longer before I release the M14s.

The scopes and mounts have been re-done with better textures, numerous texture stretching areas have been fixed, and some other things have been tweaked. I might add some more variants too.

  7. I have noticed a tendency of a lot of you to say that Iraq is more oppressed now than they were under Saddam.

Maybe for the time being they are, I do not think so myself, but I can see where you are coming from. Have some patience.

Kerry seems to lean more towards what most of the population wants. This sounds great, doesn't it? But what happened to Socrates?

Bush is more realistic, although maybe a little bit too aggressive at times.

Most of you seem to have made up your minds already and are wearing your Bush Blinders and Kerry Kaleidoscopes, leaving no room for debate.. I have made my mind up but do not think my candidate is perfect.

  8. Quote[/b] ]I wouldn't call the economy, foreign policy, civil liberties, social security, education, health care for "small incidents"

Kerry would like for you to think that all of those things are failures, and that they are all Bush's fault. He would also like you to believe that he would do a better job, which I do not believe to be true.

To say that something is failing requires something to relate it to. Kerry is relating it to 4 years ago. Unfortunately for him some serious changes have come in those 4 years and I do not think it is valid to use it as a reference.

You also missed my point entirely. To prove that the strategy in the aforementioned subjects is failing he has provided you with several "points" which are usually either factually wrong (Pells grants for example) or blown out of proportion (Iraq).

  9. This Virginian isn't shifting to Kerry.

He wins in the debates because he uses shady numbers which play on people's assumptions.

Rather than attacking a princple or strategy on logical terms he uses small, damning incidents, and exaggerates the frequency or impact of them to try and prove the strategy is fundamentally flawwed.

  10. I wish you guys hadn't responded. Please respond to this indirectly so I can stop reading this thread.

Yes, the tax comment poorly, I can see where you think I was implying I thought there was a problem. Sorry for that.

What are the numbers? AFAIK the top tax bracket is still around 35%. If the tax cut was so drastic I would hate to see what their tax rate was before it. It seems like Kerry is trying to make it look like he is a middle-class savior, attacking the "fat rich people." But that isn't true.

Didn't Kerry say that he would not raise taxes? But he does have a plan for everything.
