You have to maintain line of sight with the target or that's at least what it says in the manual.

TV res is about 640x480. New PC games can be run at 1600x1200 (except most require a good machine to be able to)

The easiest way to activate FADE is probably to edit the executable with a hex editor. Of course this will probably cause OFP to not work at all.
