4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne)
Col. Faulkner replied to Clavicula_nox4817's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Ok, thanks. In the screenshots I'm mistaking (what I now realize is) a bare velcro patch on the left upper arm for some kind of "ACU coloured" insignia. I thought it was odd to wear a bright and a subdued flag at the same time - but that's not what they're doing. I'll download your pack and have a proper look at everything later. Right now my free time all goes on my own addon making attempts and building a website for them, but I do like these "insignia and reorganization" mods you're doing since that sort of detail appeals to me. -
Vacuum cleaners "hoover", helicopters "hover".

There are others as well as the ones already mentioned: Against the Rising Sun - about Australian forces in the Far East Special Service - about British Commandos WW2 Afrika - another N. Africa campaign mod I also recall something about a mod dedicated to Slovakian forces in early WW2.

What insignia are they wearing at the top of their left arms? Is it a subdued U.S. flag? -
Not a lot of vision in evidence with those. They look like just bullpup versions of the G36 with a cheapo hunting 'scope stuck on! You really think that no more progress will be made in a hundred years? Instead of just pulling random ideas out of the air, why not research a bit and study what state-of- the-art modern (and currently projected) weapon systems are actually like? Extrapolate from things like the FIST project (and whatever the American and French equivalents are) and the FN2000 and the OICW - with all their "battlefield electronics".

The thing I somewhat disliked about the OFP tracer addons was that tracers were an attribute of the man, not of his ammo (eg. if you were "tracer enabled" you could draw your pistol and fire tracers from it too! ).

Hide weapon's magazine during reload
Col. Faulkner replied to Occitania's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Except, of course, that now this extra "empty model" in ArmA only gets used when you hit the "reload" key. The OFP "empty model" appeared as soon as your gun ran out of ammo. -
Where the heck is "Saharini"? On Sahrani, in contrast, hunting is a national institution and is controlled by the SGFC (Sahrani Game and Fish Commission). A non-resident Annual All Game license, for example, costs 300 Sahrani dollars. Aboriginal Subsistence Whaling of a limited number of Humpback whales by Sahranis is also permitted by the International Whaling Commission. Probably... So there! Â Edit: Blast! I forgot to mention that all monies for SGFC hunting licenses must be forwarded to my paypal account!

In addition, most carefully prepared addon sets will include detailed installation information in a readme. Generally, those that don't aren't worth installing anyway.

Climbable chimneys? We need a Fred Dibnah addon now! Â The thing you are calling a "Horizontal control point" I think is actually a "Trig. point". It gives the height above MSL (Mean Sea Level) of a feature.

Conflict Zone Mindanao

I looked up CZM mod (I'd never heard of it before) and saw the things you have done for Op. Flashpoint. It looked interesting and offers quite an unusual collection of units. It'd be good to see all of that in ArmA (and the new engine, of course, will let you man both of the Machine Guns on that "guntruck"). -
Yes, I can just imagine the reports from the US Recon teams: "Look, I'm tellin' ya it was a friggin' Merkava!" "A Merkava, out here!? You been at that Sahrani weed again, man!?"
-
Yes, as far as I could make out in improvised "bench testing" in OFP the bullets would drop, but that was about the limit of the simulated ballistics. There were a set of three config values for ammo classes which I understood were supposed to specify the bullet's ballistic parameters, but I could never work out how to set these nor could I find information on them, even on OFPEC. My understanding may have been faulty though. In any case, as you say, I can only see "projectile weight" being significant in a game/simulation if proper projectile motion calculations were being made and you could adjust the variable values for the calculations.
-
Does he mean perhaps "ballistic properties" rather than "weights"?

U.S. SWAT, Police & OGA's
Col. Faulkner replied to Hit_Sqd_Ack's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You could also do the SWAT battering-ram "tank" that LAPD SWAT bought from the Dept. of Energy for 1 dollar (note the "Smiley face" on the end of the ram) Â -
There is also work being done by at least two mod teams on British and Empire forces in the Western desert in 1942, yet another team is doing some early 1940s British Commandos and "Invasion 1944" has promised to move to ArmA (which implies late second world war British airborne and line infantry and armour addons). I get the impression that there is much less interest in any of these, though. The last I heard from the Falklands mod was that, after the dissolution of their team, they were struggling to complete the work even in OFP. "sasyboy" on this forum is working on his own modern British weapons and there has already been at least one retexture of the current BIS American models in British DPM (although I guess they'd look more like Dutch than British in that case).
-
Hey! It'd better not!
-
A small point of detail (disregard if you want, of course): Â Â Â Â The gun you are calling an "L2A3" should really be given its civilian designation "Sterling Mk.4" in your config. L2A3 is strictly British military nomenclature, and as such the gun would not be so described by a foreign police force like Sahrani's. Â Â Â Â Several of its other real world attributes are also not correctly modelled by your config settings (but I assume this is just a "quick and dirty" config to get it into the game in a hurry).

How did you guess that I was beautiful?

Col. Faulkner replied to putinix77's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I think you are misunderstanding. Espectro isn't criticising the texture settings level. He is just making a very small point that in the real world you'd never be allowed to have an ID photo with sunglasses on. I think it's kind of a joke (like me saying the guy should put a "pflaster" on his cut). -
ArmA Addon request thread
Col. Faulkner replied to raedor's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Having seen the "karate" anims being performed in synchrony by a "squad" I deffo plan to have a go at these as part of my SPEARHEAD project. I reckon they'd be simple enough for a first go at doing anims by hand. For my own purposes they'll be the drill movements at the halt using the SLR, though, not the ones for the SA80 (although I think the only thing I'd need to add for the SA80 is a "slope arms" - we never used to use that with the SLR). I'm definitely going to have a proper British salute too, not that sloppy foreign hand-flap that there is in the game now. -

Yes, it's very good (I'd tell that guy to get that cut dressed though ) -
U.S. SWAT, Police & OGA's

I think SWAT personnel are called "officers" aren't they? Not "operators" as you seem to have labelled them in those screenshots. -
SWAT/DEA/ATF and Entry Team released
Col. Faulkner replied to -SWAT-'s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I know what SWAT, DEA and ATF are but what is an "Entry Team"? -
Especially considering that in the "505 special edition what do you want?" thread on this forum the one thing that there was a shadow of consensus on was that a decent map should be included. No doubt this deal in the works with "PC Format" prevented that though. What ground scale does this map have (ie. is it actually a useable map and not just another poster)?
