  1. Hey everyone,

I am sure everyone who tried High Command module, loved it and hated it at the same time!

It is one of the best features in game yet it seems it works only half the time through mission before groups stop responding. Squad leaders freez in place and keep repeating "move 100 meters north" and no one moves (this is done in open and not stuck inside a town)

I hope the next patch will address this issue. In the meantime is there a workway around it?

Such as Move to Command that can be added to groups to force them to move when HC stops responding?

Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. I think some of the major issues (CTDs many are having) should be fixed first before releasing an expansion. As much we like Arma despite its issues, releasing expansion while there are technical issues comes across as milking the cow out of each drop.

Fix Arma2 first then I am sure satisfied customers will be happy to purchase any expansions released.

    My 2cents

  3. Better should read first before posting, wrong thread(again) this a MAP editing tread, you need mission editing!!! hope you will get it next time.

Hmm .. someone quick on the triggor. Follow your own advice .. should read first before posting and telling someone off!

As for the troops getting off truck, have an eject script that activates when west is deteced by east (assuming troops in truck are east). The group will eject out of truck.

I can post an exmaple mission later if needed. Otherwise it is a bit buggy getting troops out of vehicles.

  4. This is certainly a 5 star mission! One of the few that deserve to be an official mission! LOVED the intro!

I have also tried it as a night time mission and it was FANTASTIC!

I look forward to more missions from you!

    Good job laggy!

  5. I really don't understand how you kicked ass in COD with using proper CQB tactics. That is, unless you call strafe sprint + jump + aim and shoot + prone upon landing a "proper CQB tactic" (which it is in the COD4 PvP world). Of course this has nothing to do with Arma 2.

Jump aim will not work against an organised team. Moving as a group and each member of group covering different sector. Yes, it requires quick reaction but in real life CQB quick reaction is required. I am not saying COD is a real life CQB stimulation but basic team tactics do work. Arma is more long range combat but certainly not building to building room to room.

So we should stop comparing both and certainly stop with name calling of people who enjoy other games as well. Like many, I enjoy COD and I also enjoy Arma. Both have their attraction.

  6. Not sure why the conmparrisons keep being made between COD and arma?

I have played with some teams COD online and they were as highly organised as you can get. They used proper CQB tactics and most times kicked a$$! But I have also seen the rambo type with run & gun style which seems to be common.

So it is based on individuals not game. Also arma is not suitable for CQB (going upstairs to find yourself sliding though walls to outside of the bldg)

To each its strength as they say! :)

  7. Excellent post

You know what I discovered about myself?

I am a follower! I dont want to order people round, I dont want to command a team, fly people in helicopters or any of that other stuff....yet!!

What I want is to do what I am told and be able to work in a small or large team of people together AGAINST OTHER REAL PEOPLE

This is the average mission for me on the only servers that are operating where I live:

    1) Wander around a carrier for 5 mins watching other people wander round waiting for transport.

    2) Get in chopper for 10 min flight.

    3) whilst waiting on 10 min flight check mission orders

    4) Ah surprise, there are no mission orders

    5) Check various red circles on the map that look like they might hold some promise of action.

    6) Try and talk with people on the boring ride to the drop off, nobody has teamspeak....

    7) Get told off for carrying out a DSOT on the chopper machine gun because I am bored

    8) Land at the red circle and watch as the entire group of passengers on the chopper scatter in every direction with absolutely no co-ordination.

    9) Find that there are no enemies at the red circle because 2 mins before we landed it went green.

    10) another 10-15 min wait for a transport to the next red circle where there seem to be no enemies either.

    11) all of the above is best case scenario that the chopper we fly in does not get shot down or the pilot crashes killing everyone on board.

    12) My wife comes in and tells me I have used my computer game quota up for the weekend and all that without firing a shot in anger.....

Honestly, I reckon train simulator is more exciting than this game at the moment for most of the people playing.

    -------------------------------------------------

That is a funny post and I agree with it 100%! Specially that part about the wife telling you that your computer time is up! (but sweeties I have no fired a single round yet!)

  8. It depends on what you into: more small squad stealth kind of mission or an all out war!

The stealth missions are available with abundance on most aram sites.

However, the all out war (more strategic) is harder to find. You can have an all out war with the High Command module. I have been testing it in MP and it seems to work alright. You can lead a squad, your friend leads another squad supported by 4 other AI squads and take on the enemy (spawned by norrins script). I have a couple of High Command missions if interested.
