Much obliged. You will need to edit the config of the weapons addon, found in the Addons folder, naturally. There you will find bullet classes. Select the bullet type you wish to remove the tracers from, for example, I've done on my version the 5.45 and 5.56 unsilenced bullet types, since these usually aren't HEIT rounds, and find a line saying "tracercolor=[blahblahblah]". Either delete this line altogether, or set the numbers in the array (the [blahblahblah] bit) to 0. This should remove the tracers.

Save your money and get a better deal mate, that thing will literally run like a duck with its beak bolted to the floor. -
McWrong, Auscam shites on everything. Nice multicam anyway, I should say. You can actually make the pattern out, unlike some games <cough> GRAW <cough>.

Hardware Issues: Tips/Tricks/Solutions
CameronMcDonald replied to Jack-UK's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Just on the offside, I've just been fiddling with ArmedA's settings and shortcut a bit, and found out that the maxmem command is mostly causing more trouble than its worth - if I ever run the game with the maxmem=1536 command (I have 2GB RAM) I get constant crashes if texture quality is above low. My compy: 3.99GHz P4 2GB DDRII @ ~587MHz ASUS P5W DH Deluxe ASUS 8800GTX -
I once mowed down a butterfly that was stupid enough to get in the way of my M2... does this make me a killer?
-
I don't understand why 8800GTX owners whinge so much. I bought one yesterday, an ASUS EN8800GTX, and I set everything to max, 5000m viewdistance and everything runs as sweetly as oil on glass in the north part of Sahrani. Besides, I don't even have a Core II, and my system still kicks ass, must be something to do with my tweaking skill. 3.99GHz P4 w. ASUS Silent Square Pro + Arctic Silver 2GB DDRII 585MHz P5W DH Deluxe EN8800GTX ThermalTake ToughPower 750W PSU Since I have a medium sized case though (ThermalTake Soprano w. window) I had to do some serious case modding to fit the damn card in... involving cutting a nice big hole in my hard drive cage with tin snips, hahahah! I'm currently as happy as a pig in mud.

Of course I understand where you guys are coming from, I'm just attempting to pass on some comments. Nepumunk's last point is quite valid, the Ambush "intro-cum-beginning of mission" idea is good, but albeit hard to implement in this mission where you are dropped via C17. Missions should be both realistic and entertaining, I was merely suggesting that the addition of "fluff" could enhance both of these two facets where this mission is concerned - you've got the bare bones right, the mission is playable, now how about adding a bit of flair without detracting from the realism? I don't see how adding custom radio and voices could hurt. I'd love for you lads to test a mission I've almost completed, so chances are I'll drop you a line when it's done. Sorry to hijack your thread, AP, keep up the work. -

OK, so the additions of this "fluff" wouldn't make the mission better? Just my 5c. -

With all due respect, the things you term "unnecessary fluff" usually distinguish a good mission from a mediocre one, make it possible to tell when someone has put time and effort into a scenario rather than 50 seconds sticking units on the map in the editor and a few blue trigger flags to make the thing work. Anyone can make a mission in that style, only a true expert can make one that has all that "fluff" and still maintains the action. Of course the US's NODs give them an advantage, but if your idea of the SLA troops "fighting for their lives" involves sitting prone in the dark, waiting to be shot from 20 metres away, so be it. -
Hahahha this was quite a bit of fun. Only problem - when playing by yourself, in the first part you can't get your buddies to leave the farmhouse. Otherwise, quite entertaining, and with awesomely crappy zombie music!

I'll be picking up an ASUS 8800GTX and 2GB XM2 1066MHZ DDRII in the next month, so I'll keep you tuned on how the 'ole Point runs.

Mate, I don't mean any offense here, this is just my opinion, but this mission still needs a ton of work. People who would give this 9/10 have no idea what they are talking about. I'm talking things like: - More intelligent enemy placement: Having spotlights being manned out in the open really doesn't sound smart to me. Also, the enemy are meant to be defending, right? The enemy waypoints need some work, methinks, as even after we'd shafted the contingent defending the hangars, troops still ambled out of the barracks in ones and twos right into my squad's waiting arms. - Radio messages. Sure, you can titletext till the cows come home, and the hints were helpful and bugless, but for true immersion you'll need to put in radio messages. Custom sounds too, if you can get that far. - Something special? The whole operation just seemed lacklustre, take off your NODs and all you see is black... and seeing as the SLAgs don't have a total night-fighting capacity, how about working on getting the OPFOR to fire some flares around? Anything to break the routine. - Give the mission a story. I hope you're working on an intro and outro for this mission. Would make it at least 10x better. - Better OPORD. Enemy strengths? I don't remember seeing one word on disposition of forces, morale, etc. It was good, but if you know your HTML you should be able to come up with better than that. Just for what you said about having the player being a better-than-average grunt, I scored ~9000 on Veteran mode. -
Fully back up what Kyle said - it's a mission issue here. I used to wince and often scream in agony when mission makers would leave tanks, APCs and helicopters unlocked in missions, when use of these (especially the latter) would cause me to obliterate all enemy forces in the mission with minimal risk to myself, besides the fact that my character is sure as hell not trained in the operation of these machines. And yeah, it's nigh on impossible to play this game with people unknown to you. I went up on a server last night out of boredom, and it was total chaos. Where are they training chopper pilots these days?

Dude, I consider myself a fairly developed Armed Assault pilot, and I must say your skills are excellent, not to mention that great video. Nice work there. Loving the victory rolls too - I often chuck them when piloting my teammates back home - scares the crap out of human players sitting on the benches.

how to Rapify .cpp to .bin
CameronMcDonald replied to quibbly's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
You shouldn't have to rapify your config. I've derapped all the BIS configs so I can edit them without bothering to do the conversion. However, I suggest you check out Mikero's Eliteness tool, it's the only one which can .cpp => .bin at the moment for Armed Assault, I think. -
ADF troops (WIP)
CameronMcDonald replied to Maltesefalcon's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Hey Peanut, those look nice, but the pattern itself needs a bit of tweaking - in AUSCAM the green/brown dominates, not the tannish lighter colour. Might just be Armed Assault's engine though, similar to how the lightest colour on the ACU seems to dominate the darker shades. -
Ah Placebo, you nutter, it's a pity we lose you to other sources. Y'all take care now, y'hear!
-
Looks great. Maybe some better sounds are needed, but if not I can always change 'em myself. Cheers.

Buttons and velcro? Hahaha! Maybe on a dress coat, but not on body armour. -
Hmmm. Armed Assault's campaign was horrible, I hated it. Thank god we can make our own.
