@Das Attorney Since everyone hates my sounds so much :icon_sad: I quess it would not hurt to ask him, if you please. Naturally before any new mod additions are accepted they a will be subject to review at Bentley Priory. :D @Darkhorse I think that is the clip I used for the startup sound. I have spent my time in youtube.

"They wouldn't be merlin engines though." - best to try and keep ridgy didge? prt2 is better but there are a several startup vids to choose from.

Re: sounds The sounds for the current released planes are recorded from video footage of the same aircraft - best I can do there. I thought they sounded ok but there is always room for improvement. Sgt.Elias has already altered the 109 sounds for next release. The Spitfire and Hurricane machine guns, not the cannons, are also from video footage. They sound good when the whole sound is played but the rapid fire cuts the sounds very short. I could not find a half decent 20mm so just used either an old copy or a Bis sound. Anybody good with sounds / sound configs that wants to assist in that department is welcome. :cool: (I am not intereseted in just swapping sounds or textures etc from other games !) "Is it just me or do they crash eachother or just get shot down randomly? " AI can tend to collide with each other. Also, the way I have the damage setup there is a very very slim chance of the players plane self immolating but even less chance for AI. Until I get assistance re the damagehandling (hint hint :cool: ) then the current system will stay as it is. I have noticed that when sqd leader the AI do not really respond to the 'attack at will' it is better to give them a target and then order to engage.

thanks for comments gimpfarfar. Next release will have light and heavy bombers. Atleast 2 for Axis and not sure re Allied yet.

Disposing of a Hurricane and collecting some damage 'the FEW' -
Firstly, 'the FEW' can be used in conjuction with any WWII mod. 'the FEW' is an aerial combat mod but of course at times we would like to mix and match it with the WWII ground combat mods. We will not be focusing on ground units (never even considered) but more on objects and props. Yac has kindly provided the pilot model to start and maybe if he likes could include some air and ground crew but that would be the extent of unit models I would imagine. AA guns etc I am hoping that they would be covered in other mods. "CSJ, is is the is a Battle of Britain mod or a full WWII aircraft mod?" BOB is just one arena. Hopefully, with support, we can cover other arenas as the Pacific and update aircraft models as they evolved through to the later stages of WWII. "(BI for some bizarre reason never implemented turret classes on fixed wing aircraft as far as I know)" not tested MP yet but hopefully will be OK. the biggest problem I can see would be AI shooting the wings off their own bombers. @Bushlurker I have worked on several 51x51 maps so I can appreciate the work involved. The idea for a BOB map is not to focus on ground units but more so ground targets. It would be for air combat, bombing raids, recon etc AA, strategic targets, airfields and trains etc I do not imagine combat troops by the number running around other then those manning guns or ground crew. Detail would be higher around airfields but villages, towns, docks and factories would be low detail. They are my thoughts atm.. The other WWII mods would have or be making maps more suited to detailed ground combat. I would like to see what you have so far. I know most are busy doing their own thing but if someone can spare 20 mins to assist with some sqf work that would be good. Anyone that thinks they can 'help the cause' is welcome to msg me.

@Danickas0 - thanks I have pictures, couple of good action shots in there, @Warrior Xâ„¢ - thanks X, p38 was more or less a straight conversion from ofp so needs a little more work and the bullet holes you put in the 109 texture I will fix. ;)

re: parachute - I could not get the open animations to work as you would have noticed. If somebody can help with this I would appreciate it. re: CfgGroups - The Axis side would revert to friendly. Side=0;- fixed now

@Aeneas2020 re clouds, the clouds are 3D but objects not particle effect. I thought particle effect clouds would be a drain on the FPS. I get a major frame rate slow down with a building collapse in game. If particle effect clouds work ok then yes that would be the way to go. ..but I am no good working with particle effects. @Mr Burns , thanks for the advice "capture as png and convert that to paa", I have set fraps to png. My pc can struggle with ArmA sometimes so my picture quality will never be great. I am happy to use op pictures for menu screens if supplied. thanks for mirrors all :)

Land is better, less taxing on pc. I was thinking this area with the channel narrowed so you could slide more of England into the picture. Land would be the premium. More suitable to bombing runs either way. Just a thought. ... and I could dig up some old ships and boats for strafing. :) Another addition I have been toying with is clouds. These include view geo which blocks anything from the top centre radar/vision screen, this means that the AI can not see you either. Still working on the right txtr mix but it adds to the game without taking away from the FPS.

The chenarus landscape is ideal for this era and a scaled down map coast to coast would be great. Narrow the chanel etc. Biggin Hill to Lille ;).

Myke don't know if you have tried this? Make a back up of p3d first ! Just in case :) In the resources library window - sections dbl click on all identical entries (rvmats included) whilst holding down ctrl key. - ctrl C (copy your selection) - D (remove all faces) - Points \ select isolated and delete - ctrl V (paste your selection) hopfuly all or most will reduce to 1 selection. If not then check 'user values' etc

Testing B17 style aircraft with multi turrets using some of ArmA 2 new features. I only have 8 of the guns setup for test but they all work good in game, with AI or player at controls. Quick video on play around test mission in game using very basic B17 and 109 models.

Can't help with outta ArmA fantasies but some offers of assistance re WWII aircraft etc may get things moving quicker. No point having a bomber without anything to bomb or enemy to harass. Note: I am seriously not interested in let's say borrowed textures or models from other games.

I want to simulate damage to or malfunction of landing gear on an aircraft. Simplist why I figure would be to disable landing gear on the aircraft, locked in up position or maybe a peg or two down. I have tried using the gear animationPhase but had no luck. Any ideas on how this could be done ?

The idea of this thread was to simply show what other interesting avenues can be explored with ArmA2 using commands such as attchTo. Don't sit on your hands or hold your breath waiting for things to happen.
