Gore Limb Dismemberment Mod? WIP?
chops replied to =Spetsnaz='s topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Sorry mate, you've lost me. I was wondering aloud about the fact that we are all playing at killing people, for fun. Of course 'gore' influences realism in a game. If wounding and killing was more realistically depicted, it would have to be more gory. Realism is a very subjective term though. Anyway. This is a discussion probably better suited to the Offtopic section. -
Hard to find a definite line between accepting others cultures and religion and not putting up with sexism/homophobia/violence excused in the name of Islam. The Catholic Church pretty much excused, covered up and ignored paedophiles in their ranks for years, but that said, I can't remember the Pope issuing a kill-on-site order to Catholics worldwide because somebody somewhere wrote a book. I can't find a link anywhere, but I remember a news story about a university professor in France, who said that 'Islam is a violent religion'. As he had insulted Islam, some fundy-wundy beardy-wierdy published a map to the professor's house on an islamic website, complete with a demand that somebody behead him. Sounds like a Monty Python skit.

Gore Limb Dismemberment Mod? WIP?

Sorry, the point is you shouldn't be able to have it(such a gaming experience). Says who? I don't think mods are covered by censorship laws. Let's face it. If current or near future games showed what really happens to a human being in modern conflict, then very few people would have the stomach for it. I'm sure most people here have seen war docos where people describe what they saw in combat. It's interesting to ponder which is better, a game where the killing is depicted as it is in Arma, soldier falls down, turns red, goes to sleep. Does this sanitise the very brutal act of destroying a live human being? "Yes I want to kill people in a game, but I don't want to see the results". Is the realistic blood and guts version a more honest approach? Or is tearing your fellow man apart as entertainment perverse? I don't know, but I think people should have the option to find out. -
Gore Limb Dismemberment Mod? WIP?

From memory, the Y2K3 mod for OFP had a dismemberment system of sorts. If hit by explosive ordnance, the victim would explode in a storm of bones and blood. I think it was done in a similar (eventhandler) manner to what Nephilum described previously, but wasn't as specific to body parts. If you don't want a blood and guts mod, don't download it. Kay? Kay. I'd play a kill-all-the-children mod if it came out. I want PTSD from a computer game. -
SFC.ITZHAK, That looks fantastic! It's good to have a Nimitz class in game, but Wasp class is much better suited I reckon. I know it's at an early stage, but I have to ask, what are your plans for features? Animations? Weapons? Is it movable? coma73, they look just about spot on! Will fit in Sahrani just right. Great work gentlemen!

Spokesperson. It's almost fascinating to see how you can turn any thread into an excuse to spout your delusions. I'd like to start an "Are you a tit man or a leg man?" thread and see if you can work something in there. "Tits are an attempt by the capitalist ruling classes to exploit those who do not posses the means of production...blah blah blah" Anyway...It seems from a global position at least, that any down turn in the USA, can be offset to a degree by the rise of China and India. Here in Australia, the stock market took a nose dive recently, due to the sub-prime mortgage crisis. But the fact that a big sector of the economy here is based on digging up rocks and putting them on ships to China, meant that we haven't been to badly affected, as yet. On another aside, it's interesting to see it called "sub-prime" mortgage lending, when in fact it was just plain sly, greedy, underhanded and irresponsible. Any of those words would do better than "sub-prime".

Spokesperson, on occasion it is good to hear from somebody who sees things very differently, such as yourself. However, I for one am getting pretty sick of you high-jacking every otherwise interesting topic in this section and turning it into your own personal communist soapbox. Please open your own thread, save it for the student union or start your own cult. Re Tibet; It seems to me that the Chinese government view these Olympics as theirs as opposed to their turn to host them. There were reports that the Chinese government had requested that Australia let Chinese troops guard the torch through it's Australian leg. Since been denied but I wouldn't have been surprised. A few years ago we had Chinese minders telling security guards at parliament house, which MPs and Senators could and couldn't enter (some planned to interrupt the Chinese Premier's speech) their own parliament! A sad day for democracy. Even the fact that the head of a police state was allowed to address our parliament (the speech was given IN the Lower House, not in the Great Hall, as per usual) is a disgrace. A Chinese consul has even started telling State MPs, which musicals they can and can't go to. The only thing more sickening than the cruel totalitarianism of the Chinese leaders is the bootlicking of Western politicians, trying to make a buck for their big business mates out of China's development (which is better referred to as industrialisation).

Wherever this plane came from, I like it very much. -
What a load of bullshit! "OOOoooh let's all be ever so careful not to upset the Muslims!". If ANYBODY is upset about watching a bloody movie they should act like an adult and either not watch it or make one themselves about how wrong the aforementioned movie is. Besides, if Alah/God/The fuckin Tooth Fairy is so all mighty and powerful, the commander of all life on this planet, surely, surely he could destroy the creator of this film in a blink of an eye! How can you need more proof that your God is a mere superstition? This is the same shit that kicked off when there were some cartoons in a newspaper in Northern Europe? Yes that's right, pictures. And the result? Pre-enlightenment savages rioting in the streets, torching that great symbol of Danish cultural imperialism, Kentucky Fried Chicken. This self-censoring, political correctness stifles dialogue discourse and debate, the very things that set the West above the troubled regions of this weary planet, where writing, painting, saying or drawing the wrong thing can get you killed. And these are the very things that many people are fighting hard to achieve in those same oppressive societies. It's woeful to think of all of those in Western history, right back to Socrates, who fought to be able to freely speak their minds. We're now apathetically backsliding into tip toeing around barbarians, instead of decrying this behaviour that would earn any errant 5 year a scolding. I might disagree with what you have to say, but I'll defend your right to say it to the death. Voltaire

Are there any plans to continue work on ACES, for ARMA? That was such a promising project in OFP, shame it never really took off (pardon the pun).

Everything you've described above sounds like the fault of British people doing the wrong thing, from the temp agencies, to the factory managers. A lot of people here in Australia are pissed off that their manufacturing jobs have disappeared to China, tabloid media would have you believe it's the fault of the Asian Hordes plotting the downfall of down under, when in fact it's Australian/multinational companies making the decisions, who just plain don't give a fuck about anything but the money.

Here in this little corner of the world, Melbourne Australia, there have been more people shot by police than the rest of the country put together. I remember a few years ago there was a nutcase smashing an ATM with a hammer, he was shot because he didn't put down the hammer. In Sydney a Frenchman was shot on the beach, by police who were still effected by cocaine from the night before. Most of this goes by without much public uproar, as there all criminals anyway, so who gives a shit? Even at the last Australian Open tennis tournament, the police used pepper spray on spectators who were being too noisy. I spent several months in England and was impressed with the general professionalism of the police there. I guess without guns, they have to use their brains a bit more.

Seems strange that the EU is expanding, bringing down borders/barriers, now another one goes up. Won't make much difference if both Serbia and Kosovo get into the EU at some point in the future. I wonder how viable a state Kosovo will be? I remember reading an article about East Timor where a few farmers admitted their standard of living was better under Indonesian rule and the sort of regretted independence.

I don't thinks it's a too unrealistic to imagine a guerrilla/partisan force being able to get hold of some camouflage. In the last uprising I led, it was much harder to find guns, which is why we didn't go through with it . I think if you use QB stuff for only a very small proportion of these units, ie there's no great benefit, best to drop it. Will be great to have some insurgents not wearing thongs/flip flops and board shorts. Keep up the great work!

Marvellous! At the risk of appearing a dunce, can I ask just how much stuff you've got in the pipeline? I checked the first page of this thread and a few back, but no cigar. So this will be British and German/Nazi soldiers and a Caen map? Plus of course the new animation and config stuff. Are there any tanks, trucks or aircraft to come? Thanks, keep it coming! Chops

If Cuba truly is paradise, why not move there and spend your days on the beach drinking rum and shagging Masters Degree qualified prostitutes? I doubt you could get internet access there, and that way we'd all be happy.

Very impressive!
