Ultimate Flashpoint Mod Beta 0.6
chops replied to ultimateflashpoint's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Sounds very interesting mate, but how about a bit more information about what is in the pack? Does this replace the default BIS units? Which replaces which? What sounds/effects/features have you taken from where? 2GB is a big download, for a relatively unknown package, you might want to take some screenshots and perhaps some videos so people can see your work. -
Thanks for the update. Good to see COC still around, I've been a big fan since the OFP UA v1 days
-
The MK-82, MK-83 and MK-84 would be very nice to have, as well as their JDAM equivalents. Though it looks like you're pretty busy. There are a lot of planes being converted to Arma from OFP would be good to have something pretty from them to drop.
-
Siiiick! It's great that you concentrate your efforts on addons that are not already in the game. No offence to the great work people have done on soldiers/vehicles/armour, what I mean is there were no boats, subs or strategic bombers in Arma, now there are!
-
@Gnat. I was wondering if you'd dust off the Buff from OFP (the idea at least, I see it's a new model). Will the focus be on it mainly functioning under AI control? I recall the OFP version came with a scripting addon to control it from the ground, to great effect. Of course snazzy textures would make it even better, but if it's way up in the sky, who cares? The higher view distance in Arma will show this off nicely!

Thanks for posting that command list Soohy, I'll give it a whirl. I've found Pilfius has saved my arse a number of times. No longer having to take your fingers of the movement keys and mouse to order the AI spastics around helps. Can get a little confusing with Teamspeak running at the same time, but push to talk goes a long way to solving that.

You seriously can't imagine why wld427 would be pissed off? Do you really imagine those addons were asked for out of indolent laziness? Pull your head in.

Nothing wrong with a bit of mix and match. Seems well within the realm of realism too. A lot of second-world countries have Western and former Soviet-Bloc equipment, eg Iraq, Iran. Not in the same basket, but I think Finland uses a bit of a mix too. Shame that permission has been Indian-given, I can't imagine why addon makers would prefer it if less people enjoyed using their work. Looking forward to more stuff from PRACS regardless!

if you say so... Oh please great sage, we beg of you, enlighten us mortals with your wisdom! Else STFuckU. @Bad Benson, keep at it mate. Any new buildings will contribute a lot to the various Afghan maps.

Perhaps too beautiful for the planes they'll be attached too!
-
A plague on both your houses! Just shut up and make me some decent fucking games already.

The Australian Federal Government is pushing forward with a plan to force ISPs to censor the Internet for all Australians. This plan will waste tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and slow down Internet access. Despite being almost universally condemned by the public, ISPs, State Governments, Media and censorship experts, Communications Minister Stephen Conroy is determined to force this filter onto all Australian internet users. It hasn't taken long for the Labor party to become the arseholes they campaigned against in the last federal election, almost a year ago. Australia already has second-rate internet infrastructure and highly overpriced internet service. For example, I pay $70 a month for 256Kbs DSL, capped at 12GB. http://nocleanfeed.com/index.html Hopefully enough of a stink will be kicked up and this idiotic plan will get shot down in flames.

Like Derk Yall, my first impressions are not good. The player seemingly cops a burst, a red direction indicator flashing up and off he goes. That part of the vid stopped just before the bunny-hops started by the looks. There's too much shit on the screen by the looks of it. Compass thing across the top etc. Looks so far like an OFP mod for BF2 or something.
-
Coz I wanna kill them... duh Seriously though, I was thinking it might make the frigates a counterpart to the RACS naval units. Now that I think about it though, I doubt a couple of white and blue flags would shatter the realism of a non-existent nations navy. From that pic the textures look fine, to my layman's eye at least.

Are you serious? You see no, let's call it niche-overlap, in both companies making an open-ended, large scale multi-role military simulator? You see no competition for the same market? The games are so completely different? What does 'by default' mean exactly?
-
Siiiick! That will add a new dimension to the game. It's a shame to have all that water and no death and destruction visited upon it! Kamov in SLA markings too? What weapons will it have?
-
Considering how important a part of modern infantry tactics CAS is, it'd be a huge hole in the game to go without. So if planes are included, may as well make them flyable. I agree with Balschoiw that flying would be more rewarding if you had to invest time in mastering the aircraft, but better to include OFP style basic planes than nothing. It makes no sense to argue to exclude things. If you don't like 'em, don't fly them and don't call in any airstrikes. From the next to last video of Arma 2, there was a quick shot of a helicopter cockpit. Sadly the same old bullshit fuel and 'armour' meters were there, floating in the corner of the screen. I was hoping they'd do away with them in ACE too.

Thanks for that, was an interesting read. There was a bit of arse-kissing going on, but they did counter that by mentioning that 'accessible' often means 'dumbed-down'.
-
Ah really? I didn't know that. That sounds like a step backwards, excluding something that from the sequel that was in the original. Granted OFP planes aren't much chop, but they were flyable at least. If they've got in-game models, it can't be that hard to make them player-flyable, surely.I have a bad feeling Arma 2 is going to have everything OFP2 lacks and vice versa, leaving us stuck in the middle

Jeeezuz! That animated gunner is very impressive indeed. I'd almost feel bad if had to shoot him, he looks that life-like. Great work! I think RKSL have implemented rotors flexing in their choppers too, be interested to see how yours turns out too.
-
They've definitely gone quiet. There seemed to lot of information all coming out once (excluding any decent in-game stuff) then silence. I can't imagine the benefits of keeping your potential customers in the dark like that?
-
Thought you might find this article interesting. Pretty much sums it all up for me  link
-
Nice work! This was one of the many little things bugs that lessened my enjoyment of the game. Not a good sign on the part of BIS that it's up to paying customers to repair their product for them. Anyway, good stuff mate!

Sorry make that Carlton Might need some neew animations. My last post on the matter, I promise
