You sir are most likely not joining the right servers or your internet is sketchy. All it takes is finding the right server or group of friends and you will never look back its so much more fun and immersive. Why devs are spending time on sp and campaigns I will never know but I can tell you that some of the maps and missions the community plays on together is amazing you just need to find the right places/styles.

I would like to setup different positions to call out in realtime for example when I radio alpha it will: Unit1 attachTo [A-10,[-0.4,4.9,1.8]]; if I radio bravo it goes to a different location: Unit1 attachTo [A-10,[2.4,5.0,-1.8]]; Is this even possible? Thanks -

I recently tried making Sahrani work with an evo mission in A3 and Sahrani seemed ok but I couldnt get EVO to work on it and most of seemed because the EVO mission was looking for all the sahrani arma stuff and items that didnt exist in arma 3 even with all the AiA and mods I had running. So my point is: 1. I hope the priority is creating a EVO version for Sahrani in A3 for us nostalgic fans. 2. I wouldnt think it would be that hard to just port over the original sahrani evo missions to A3 by switching out all the lold units, vehicles etc to just vanilla A3 as a baseline. but I must admit I am not familiar with mission making and I already am spending way to much time just learning how to shoot a film with A3 which is not easy... Thanks -

Well I will try and give an example of what didnt work: 3 items in play here: 1. the A10 (already has a flight path from me flying and capturing the positions using the script recorder unitcapture) 2. unit1 (the soldier/camera guy) 3.the trigger What I do is place: Unit1 attachTo [A-10,[-0.4,4.9,1.8]]; into the init of the A10 so that unit1 (cameraguy) gets attached to the a10 so I can have him film a distinct position on the a10. So far it works great as I'm filming on top of the a10 in one position but then lets say mid flight I want to then switch to another predetermined position like on the bottom do I just then add a trigger under say on action radio delta to (Unit1 attachTo [A-10,[2.4,5.0,-1.8]];).......well this doesn't work, is this supposed to work like that? -

Hello, I am unable to find info on how one can use a view or camera to see a soldier or vehicle while you are controlling the object at the same time, is there more than one technique? What I am looking for is something like the flyby view options that many games and sims use but your are also able to control the soldier or object at the same time. This is sometimes referred to as drop cam or flyby etc. Thanks! -

Thank you very much all for the insight! I hear ya regarding the public players causing havoc with the spawning towns but man I remember some epic battles where it was only 2 towns triggered and it was pretty fun and interesting that way, but I am sure there were a lot of factors not the least of which was the island of Sahrani ripe for the plunder including hidden empty T72's:p -
It plays great but I think the main thing holding it back is a unifying way of joining a moded server especially when it comes to utilizing Arma2 assets. Play with Six is pretty good but I am having alot complications because of the arma2 hybrid aspect. ACE3 is really what is going to make this game fly so hopefully that happens and asap...

Hello, I have very much enjoyed evo for arma 1 in sahrani back in the day and hope to relive these great memories again with the new and improved A3 engine. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone in the know could answer a few questions... 1. What is the main difference between vanilla evo and GITS evo and which was first? 2. Who originally created the whole EVO concept was it a GITS thing or did it precede it? 3. Will the the A3 version be like the original one where you would take the towns in sequence like a real invasion and even if one was not yet completed you would still find the next to be alive with enemy if you accidentally found yourself in the next town? (I really liked this aspect and as long as you had a decent setup you didnt get any lag..) 4. Are there plans to recreate the old school experience complete with the upcoming Sahrani island? Thanks! -
Really hope someone makes OG Evolution for Sahrani as some my fav arma experiences ever was playing Evolution on Sahrani. It was like Domination only you would go town to town in sequence just like it was a real invasion liberating the oppressed Sahrani locals even if it meant leveling and nuking their whole town. Another cool thing was how if you accidentally went ahead to the next town before the other was taken it would still come to life with enemies. I thought that was a cool feature and from my experience it hardly caused much lag and from how arma 3 is running I think it would be a none issue unless your pc or bandwidth is low quality.

Arma up until now took a bit more risks with giving plenty of toys like fixed wings and bikes, but now with this latest it seems more about "focus on infantry" leaving us fixed wing lovers cold.

I agree 100% on things looking cooler when realistic and I think that "balancing" "fun" and "gameplay" should only be addressed through option settings. The typical excuse for stuff like this is the disappointing statement "this is a combined arms" game with a focus on infantry... I also think that the whole simulation sickness thing is a bit of a copout... That being said Arma 3 is still the best milsim in existence that is available to the consumer and hopefully ACE 3 will address more realistic features that us hobbyists will appreciate... -

I am going to have to disagree with the majority here, I tried both and imo PBO manager wins as it is much more intuitive unless it is just because I am new to editing and extractPBO has more deep ability..... -

IMO more focus on creating realistic physics for all vehicles mainly land and air. Realism should only be addressed as far as the subjects not the setting. As an example certain vehicles/characters/landscapes/weapons/accessories/creatures should not be left out under the guise/excuse of lack of realism, that should be up to the mission builder. That is my only real critique of A3. They spent too much time worrying about a time period and political setting. I like having some modern stuff but I think most of us just wanted Arma 2 but optimized and with more realistic vehicle characteristics. That being said A3 is still great and I congratulate BI on what they are doing but maybe there is some truth in the RV engine being outdated but I don't know enough to confirm that. -
I fully agree on the lack of turn out and internal views especially since we had these features in all 3 simulators from the past. I disagree on the scopes though, they are pretty different though not perfect but good enough to warrant not being as much a priority as vehicles imo.

Will ARMA3 need A2 installed moving forward for old islands and assets etc?

I own A2 all the way up to A3 but I do not want to have to have A2 installed with all its DLC just to use its assets. Is this just the way its going to have to be moving forward or will we be able to just have A3 installed and use something like six updater to just get whats needed? Ideally I would like to see all previous islands, weapons and assets from Arma on up to Arma 2 (combined ops) available in Arma 3 without having to have any other game fully installed besides Arma3. Thanks ;) -

What I mean is they would have to all be consolidated then updated to Arma3 standards and I think people would like to have these items and be willing to pay for it. The question is does is save BI time and money to use these older items and update them or is just faster and cheaper for them to just reintroduce them from scratch?..... -

An "ARMA 3 Legacy pack" which would have all islands and assets from ARMA 1 all the way to ARMA 2 Combined ops into ARMA 3 :D
