Funnily enough there had been a mod about Vietnam in development for ages before Dice decided on a full blown game about it. 'Eve of Destruction' I think it was called. Didn't think it was much cop personally. Although it did make some nice heaviliy vegetated areas to get lost in. Regarding realism, there is a very nifty thing called Merciless which replaces sounds and textures to make them more historically accurate, much better than the standard version. Â Â Merciless Edit: Here it is.

Thats like me seeing a rough sketch of a car and deciding it sucks without ever test driving it or seeing the final product.

They've got a few other new planes coming up in the next addition. Click here, and scroll down the news page a bit. they want to put some proper planes in like a tornado or jaguar lol
-
Ah well, each to their own. I won't attempt to defend something like a game, I have better things to do.
-
DC is definately one of the diamonds amongst the huge great pile of coal that is the other load of mods.

like the yanks at arnhem See thats something I noticed. I noticed it and said, "meh, American games dev company" and got on with playing.

Joe public probably wouldn't even realise it was an Enfield they were playing the game with, let alone give a monkeys. Things like that I agree, would be avoidable with a bit more pre-development research, but it doesn't bother me much. Fun is the overriding factor, people wouldn't play the game unless it was fun. It's not a sim, it's an arcade game a 'jack of all trades' it rolls infantry, armour and air power into one easy to get into package. If I wan't a bit of realism I'll play some OFP or a flight sim. I want instant, quick immense fun...jump on a BF1942 server. Â Pic u might like: Edit: Oops, pic might be a bit big. Go here to see it: http://www.desertcombat.com/ScreenShots/f16/newF16_1.jpg

Time period correct rifles to the extent of sticking an M16 in a WW2 era game, would bother me. But slight variations on the same rifle wouldn't even warrant a raised eyebrow. I'm not that anal about the guns I use to kill things in games.
-
Oh I dunno, I quite like BF1942. Not much cop as a single player game, but most excellent online. But then I'm usually too busy enjoying myself to bother counting the number of rivets my Spitfire was put together with, or whether or not the tread pattern on my boots is historically accurate.

I'm amazed that pile of bollocks even got past an editor. Utterly absurd nonesense.

I think you'll probably find that a balanced game is what they are aiming for. Being on the American side and being able to napalm the enemy to death from great heights before they've even managed to stick there undies on and grab their AK's, wouldn't make for a very entertaining experience.

Perhaps he tripped and fell onto some bullets. Edit: Linky

Thanks, but perhaps I should have clearer in my questioning. I understand the purpose of a smoke screen, but are the pods ever loaded with things other than smoke grenades? i.e standard grenades, other types of grenades etc etc
-
Ah right, cool. Cheers. Just smoke, or do they have a multi-purpose role?

This is clearly the place to ask this question. Â I've always wondered what these bits are for: Anyone here care to enlighten me, as my knowledge of tanks is quite limited. Counter-measures? Decoration? Small metallic hedgehogs? Sorry, too lazy to look it up myself. Â

The flames of games is mainly in the planes

That'd certainly solve the current dip in passenger numbers. -
Tony Blair has changed tack just recently with his stance on the WMD in Iraq issue. Before the war, during the war and just after the war, he was busy enthusing about how the coalition would definately, 100% find weapons in Iraq. Now however, he's sublty changed his wording to be more along the lines of "we will find EVIDENCE of weapons PROGRAMMES". You can read a bit about it here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/3055061.stm Dun dun daaaaha! Anyone not been expecting that?
-
Actually, that was something I wanted to ask. Do the general (widespread) American news agencies report these, almost daily now, deaths? Or are they sort of swept under the carpet? Does this then, in turn, reinforce the general publics view that when Bush proclaimed the war was over, all the troops had finished and come home?

Ted Danson (actor not character), thats the guy who played the bar owner in Cheers. Â

Couldn't see this posted anywhere in this thread, but it's worth being aware of. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/3018558.stm

I was thinking that too.

True, he's ditched the dodgy Hawaiian shirt, and got a smashing new tie. But yes, it does look nice.

Max is looking a bit like a used car salesman if you ask me. "Buy this new ford or I'll get all bullet-timey on yer ass" Edit: Nice tie! Looks like something my grandma gave me last christmas!
