I don't have a particular stance on this issue (not living in the US), but this whole "it's our duty to own weapons in case of oppression by the government" seems to me to be shouted by a population LEAST likely to ever question their governing body. But hey, if you want to provide faster and more efficient ways to kill each other, who am I to argue? Personally, I'm of the opinion that such weapons should be left to professionals. -

It was some design work for a client. They used to provide the ground vehicles the Red Arrows used when going to shows and events like that. The photos were taken at the handover of the new vehicles for the year, 2002 I think it was. I was technically there to take notes and images of the handover ceremony, then work them into some 'pleasing to the eye' publicity materials. Although I spent most of the time playing with the aircraft instead.

Took these a while back whilst doing some work with the Red Arrows:

No offence, but I reckon thats a bad idea. Start off with something smaller, get some experience and THEN move up to the bigger stuff. For one thing, your insurance will be MUCH cheaper, and for another you'd stand less chance of ending up a statistic on a road safety poster. Inexperience (no scooters don't count ) is a major cause of accidents / death among bike riders. (Discounting fecking car drivers of course )

Unload from chopper then do their own thing?
CosmicCastaway replied to CosmicCastaway's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok, sorry for dragging up this old topic but I didn't want to start a new one. Regarding the above issue. I have tried the mission I was making on a dedicated server, and 'transportunload' does indeed not work. Unfortunately the entire mission depends on the chopper landing, and unloading troops. Can anyone give me a pointer as to how to make the chopper do as it's told when on a dedicated server? -
Unload from chopper then do their own thing?
CosmicCastaway posted a topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok I did a quick search for this but I couldn't find anything, probably because it's such a simple thing. Anyway, I can get a chopper to start in the air loaded with a group of troops. It flies through a couple of waypoints then lands, unloads the troops and takes off to it's final waypoint. However, how do I get the then unloaded troops to move about independantly? At the moment the all attempt to follow the chopper overland as it flies to it's final waypoint! Â Bit of a beginner to this whole map making deal, so any assistance greatly appreciated! -
Howdy! I've done a search for this, but nothing really seems to explain simply enough for me. I've recently encountered the '63 groups only' limit in the Flashpoint editor. Can someone explain to me what it classes as a 'group'? I'm certain I don't have anywhere near 63 groups in the map. I might be close to that in individual items (soldiers, vehicles etc), but definately not in groups. It's probably me being dim, but what exactly does it mean? On the same tack, is there a workaround? I've examined some maps that spawn units using a .sqs file, would this prevent the 63 limit from occuring? One other query, a general 'best editing practice' question. Is it preferable to spawn the units using triggers, rather than having them present throughout the entire mission? I assume this would be less taxing on the players machines? Cheers for any assistance!

63...is a magic number...
CosmicCastaway replied to CosmicCastaway's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok great. I just needed the whole concept of the 'groups' explaining really. It's not a problem as such, it's just that I reached the limit of groups when I was only half way through putting my mission together. Might go back to the drawing board and scale it down a bit, or make the whole thing a bit more efficient unit wise. Cheers for the assist. -
63...is a magic number...
CosmicCastaway replied to CosmicCastaway's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Right, that explains that then Ok, so the best way to overcome the 63 group limit is to group more of the units together? Or is there a better way? -
If I had one, I just might.

So essentially what you're saying is... You're denying the prisoners access to a fair trial, because if they got that they would probably be shown to be innocent. As most of them would have a case to argue. However if you deny them that right, you can classify them as guilty for as long as you like, and hang the consequences?! Also you can't compare the beheading of an individual by 'terrorists', to the imprisoning of thousands of potentially innocent people by a nation that is supposed to be championing the cause of freedom and democracy.
-
But they are entitled to international ones. You have, to mention but a few...British, Turkish, Egyptian and Australian nationals banged up without a trial. You really can't expect them to accept that as they don't live in America, their right to due process and a fair trial is null and void?!
-
Although of course the cunning part of this is that they arn't labelled as 'prisoners of war' but as 'unlawful combatants', throwing them nicely into a legal 'black hole'. Nice views you have on people that don't think the same way as you too.

CosmicCastaway replied to CosmicCastaway's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Ok that was great thanks. Although I found that the UNLOAD command is ignored, but if you swap that out with a TRANSPORTUNLOAD, it seems to work fine. Cheers for the help. -

Great! Thanks for that, I'll give it a try this evening. I'll post here if I manage it, then noone else will be wasting their time replying to this. Cheers again. -
You might not realise it, but America has more of an empire than you think. Empire in denial?
