Sorry but if i understood BMARTINS post right then he had a working 1.08 - screwed it up - and comes then complaining about crap software. I'm not flamebaiting here - i just can't understand how people find victims everytime without thinking what they say. I was adding a constructive reply 2 posts before: My answer was: Â Â Â The next one i was saying that if one cannot accept the risk wich is comming by the wide variety of different possible pc setups, he has to change to console type gaming because the risk doesn't exist there. No flamebaiting at all - but if some people afterwards react like i did hold them a gun on the head it's not my fault sorry. I say again: My game wasn't working for three different reasons yet but i kept calming down and you didn't find me swearing and pointing around with my fingers to find a victim. I silent but intensive searched for a solution - waited a while searched again and i got it working: 3 times. I feel sorry for those who didn't have that luck yet but i just can't overlook when people put all things into the wrong light. If you are after a solution, then best is to have no wrong accusations or assumptions in a thread since it will always offer stuff for discussion or at least for clarification. If people have problems they should concentrate on solving that problem but not start trying to make things look bad for others just because of some ego trip. It's the phrase: 'we hate what we cannot get' what comes into my mind everytime i see those helpless tries to make everything around one looking bad - just not themselves. This is not the same comunity like it was in OFP days it more reminds on those people who are playing BF2 and destroy every friendly vehicle they couldn't get in because another one was faster - and the more i see this the more my hair are turning straight up into the air. I miss that mature comunity really and all i'm trying is to open up the eyes of some posters to start thinking about what mismatch they sometimes are saying. @dogtags: At least i would go to where i bought that car to complain, not directly to the manufacturer. Well at least 1700 of my 1800 posts where extreme constructive and did help a lot of people till now but i will bear in mind your words an 'Buzz off'. May the new comunity find their ways to solve their mission editing/scripting and modelling problems. What? You had the game running and then after your next step of intervention it didn't run? Wait, i'm gonna try to find a way to make it not run on my system so i can come back to complain about that software too. Sorry if i misunderstood you because of the language barriere. ~S~ CD

i really don't see the point of this thread.. i was hoping to find some info but i didn't yet. Right you are and wrong you are Bravo6. By the title of this thread it's hardly to oversee that you won't get any info from that thread: What did you expect? We all know that question like those you probably can found be answered in an interview or official anouncement but quite sure not in a forum thread. :edit - ah btw - sorry Skullburner, but i'm not really interested in continuing a discussion about the real sequel with you or anybody else in this thread. ~S~ CD

Maruk already posted a reply about this problem that they contacted Securom and for a first hotfix he posted Securom's answer. Now this came even on page one of that thread. If there weren't that new trend that everybody feels the need to open up a new thread for the same problems over and over again, you would have had luck and have seen BIS' response. Well, then you should change to consoles gaming because there everybody got the very same configuration and hardware and no other factors than the software could be messed up if it's about bugs. ~S~ CD

Typical Securom problem in no way related to Arma. Pro evolution Soccer 6 offers the same problem every now and then and is also protected by Securom copy protection. ~S~ CD

hmm - would C4 be an acceptable option for you? Did it happen once or are you able to recreate it? Also does it happen only with the building at that location you are showing or does it happen on all buildings of that kind, wherever they're placed? ~S~ CD

The biggest problem is: that everybody opens up a new thread for the very same question instead of using the search function if you ask me. Some of the addons you having installed do have a config problem and this is causing that you can't see the rifles anymore. Solution: find out which addons are causing troubles and remove them or get a fixed version. :edit - and btw i was refering to your problem with 1.08 and no rifles visible. ~S~ CD

I will never understand why people put the two things: realism and simulation always into one cup. Realism means exactly like reality or at least close to, while simulation means that the end result should mirror the end result of reality or at least make people think that the outcome could be same in real. So if you can't destroy a choppers glasses in ArmA with a .50, it is just simulating the real life thingy: you won't take the chopper down due to pilot's skills and flying technique. A simulation can tell you: this dot on the map represents a whole army, while for realism you would have to have a real army there - otherwise it wouldn't be realistic. IMHO it's (forgive me the word) balancing between realism and simulation - if you can't do it in real life, but you could in ArmA because the pilots aren't trained like in real life, you need to find a way to simulate it. ~S~ CD

hmm - seems i've made a mistake - checked the results before voting - now i can't vote anymore. Mine works fine - only had a prob with 1.08 due to bad settings in the options but i could sort it out. Always add one vote to the 'works fine all the time' when watching the results. ~S~ CD

Although it's good to have at least one thread here not dealing with ppl not being able to start ArmA but does this one really belong to troubleshooting? I'd say general or multiplayer. ~S~ CD

I just had a look into 1.07's changelog and didn't find it there - i think ~S~ CD

To me it means that if you're limited on downloading large files it would be better to wait for the direct update from atari's version to 1.08 - if it doesn't matter you could already use the 1.05/06 to 1.08 patch. ~S~ CD

Therefore it's always good to have a look into readme files like the one which came with your patch. There you find a list of bugfixed. If you do a search on 'joystick' you will find only that: This means that it hasn't been enabled with 1.08. Do you have a source of where it is stated that there will come 2nd joystick support with 1.08 or did you just try a shot into the blue when asking for it? ~S~ CD

hmm - seems you misunderstood my post or you felt accused of speaking nonsense - sorry if it came over like that (english is not my native language). I didn't mean you to have spoken this nonsense - i meant more people who bring up solutions or who start getting aggressive into a direction where it doesn't belong to. I already said in another post that the copy protection system being choosen by the publisher or distributor is in no way influenced by the developer of the game. There are even people suggesting BIS to release a NOCD crack or patch but i doubt that's a sense making option or that BIS in any way would have influence on the decision of making so. And if then one comes and says that software piracy is not a problem then ... well. But again i say: i didn't mean you with speaking nonsense. Look - i have had a problem when i first installed ArmA back in November when it was released here in Austria. My DVD simply wasn't recognized by my system. I didn't put my angryness down to the developer, instead i opened a thread with all information i could get together to help others finding a solution. Two days later i got my game to run because i've used the meantime to read as many threads as possible and found a solution - instead of telling BIS how angry i am. Now i also got a problem with 1.08 which wasn't there before but do you see me beating the devs because of it? I posted a reply into the 1.08 troubleshooting thread - note that i didn't open another new thread about it like many of those i meant are doing. Now i must wait a little bit until somebody maybe find a solution or until i probably solve it myself. That's the way to go and not swearing about how bad BIS is developing or testing patches/games - that doesn't lead anywhere and is rather unconstructive than helping anybody. I hope that all those problems getting solved as soon as possible but everything needs it's time. We all know how many different system setups are possible they are endless and then there come people, moaning about bad beta testing or so. ~S~ CD

Well then i appeal to you not to point with your finger into the wrong direction and present your opinion as facts. I feel sorry for those who can't run their game but i can't ignore the bashing onto the developer for problems he didn't cause. It's very demotivating and very unconstructive when you always get blamed for something that's not your fault but you're still putting lot of effort into fixing things. plz Also the suggestion made by Securom is probably to be seen as a first hotfix for this problem and if it doesn't work nobody said that there won't follow other attempts. Maruk already posted what Securom answered him - so your evil developer already tried to support you in comunication with the copy protector. Give them a little time and be patietn but stop hammering onto the devs since they are the last ones working against us the ArmA comunity. ~S~ CD

I'm sorry for you that you can't run the game and i would be angry too - but still i wouldn't speek nonsense just that doesn't make sense just to get rid of my angryness. I'd try to keep it in a polite manner and not go blaming into the wrong corner. Sorry again if you feel upset about my behaviour but to ignore the existency of software pirates doesn't help either to solve problems. About constructivity: at least i tried to inform the poster who has the wrong opinion about the topic copy protection to understand why it's there. Why the heck i should reply to Atari? I'm just not loosing my orientation and am still thinking clear and logical (other as you). Do you really think a developer would hack his own game to sabotate the publishers who are the only ones having contracts with them? ~S~ CD

I wonder where you got your percent from. If there where no copy protection, one guy would rent a game in the videothek or buy it in a shop to bring it back right after installation or burn it onto disk - and then all his friends would suffer from the very same copy of the game. The codes to play online would be the easiest way for them to sort out. Why do you think companies making money with copy protection and why do you think other companies paying this money? Blue screens are the best indicators for having some faulty hardware - not software. Experts even said that blue screens cannot be caused by faulty software but only by hardware. ~S~ CD

Well but the problem is: The developer has in no way any influence on the decision being made by their customers of which copy protection they are going to use. The publisher says: 'Securom' and it will be Securom. The developer could say: 'but..' And the publisher could jump in: 'sh*t up you got your money everything else is not your problem'. Now the developer is still trying to help the customers of their customers and all they get back from it is being bashed down to poor development. ~S~ CD
