  1. I think the more of a problem would be: how to send that over through the network during an online cti just in case someones goin to say that - yeah i know about fax ~S~ CD
  2. From my understanding, I believe it is not possible to create additional markers than the ones placed in the editor. You can change them in all aspects (size, color, shape, etc...) but not create new ones. Kyle - did you forgot the 'mighty user'? Well you cannot create a marker by engine ingame, but the user himself can do in multiplayer. And according to which chat-type is up, they are visible for that type. ~S~ CD

xsparky - you get my full respect for your last post and i do understand that you're upset because of that naming thingy - but this is above our heads anywayz and you did finally act worth to be an ofp'er @Warden - no it's not 2 or 3 people on the forums only (like xsparky said it's greece and they have their reasons) But at this point of the discussion i'd like to suggest you to ask one of them by pm and let it out of this thread so that it can be used for what it was supposed to @topic About the fake stuff - it should be easy to have empty/objects being configured so that they show up as enemy, just that they aren't of any use and less expensive. ~S~ CD

    Flashpoint Elite Scripting

I hope (and think) so too Looks like almost everything available in the editor can be changed/created during the mission now also. Just take a look about the setwaypoint stuff or triggers, etc. ~S~ CD

Yah - sorry my fault - it wasn't buildings but streets or bridges (while i'm not entirely sure about bridges aswell). But in case someone needs an atomic plant fake - we got one in Austria (few kilometers from Vienna) - it never got activated upon reaction of the majority living around there. ~S~ CD

Shut up then  Really though, who cares. This could be a Star Wars mod, it all boils down to the same thing, you're playing a game, this mod was created to be used in a game, you bought a game I'm really looking forward to playing this. It's always motivating when someone releases something of this scope using so many addons, makes it all worthwhile   While i really wonder what would then be if this were a Babylon 5 thread  :edit - and to keep it on-topic; Did you include something like fake buildings (attrapes)? Those were used hell of a lot by the Serbs and did cost the US and others lots of bombs and rocketts. ~S~ CD

The only ones who speak about political beliefs are you Warhead and xsparky here I really hope that this thread doesn't become closed because of some squarehead thinking. Go and start a petition somewhere somewhen and somehow and let there be peace here in this thread ~S~ CD

Your work inspired me and I've made this model with textures. Just wonder if it looks good. Sorry for spamming in your thread No problem with that i was just curious about your motivation to post it But don't wonder when you see such a building in my pack at the end (j/k) ~S~ CD

    bf2 alike mod

Guys, i think you understood him wrong; he wants to get some of his mates into ofp and he would like to offer them something they know/like from BF2. Once they play ofp they can find out on their own what's realistic or not or that it can be also lot of fun having a buddy as gunner while being driver or commander. And btw - you're right with pointing out the more realism about seperate driver and gunner but unfortunately it doesn't work in multiplayer so perfect like it should - we know that. I just say desync/lag  So sometimes even the more hardcore realism fighters would wish to controll the whole tank on their own in multiplayer  :edit - btw - it's one of his mates (not some) ~S~ CD

    Making a tutorial

Well, best would be you post your imagination of the tutorial and then ppl could start suggestions on what's missing or how to improve it. I could post now everything i know about grouping or groups (i think i know a lot and so do others) and then we would be at the point where Trapper was standing: you'd copy/paste it and here you go with your not-self-made tutorial ~S~ CD

    bf2 alike mod

I reckon some maps in BF style: Battlefield1985 was the first one followed by some who altered it a lil bit then. Also CTI is a more complex version of BF gamestyle IMHO and there are lots of CTI's around. ~S~ CD
  13. hmm - just because you didn't understand what PC posted you mean everybody's wrong I give you 100 points for understanding the main question in the thread though. PC gave a full tut (spoken in 'o2' language) about how to create an invisible static addon which will show up on the map like a marker of your choice and can be made invisible or visible for certains Next time you accuse somebody of being totally wrong clean the dirt in front of your door first ~S~ CD

For chopper insertion onto specific spots without h-pads i could maybe help out. Check out the thread i once posted at ofpec: how to use waypoint type scripted There you should find chopper insertion in my 3rd post including the scripts. By playing around with some parameters in the script you can for sure manage to get a fast rope insertion where you want too. ~S~ CD

Yeah looks good - but it looks to me like an ofp ingame shot - so what's the point? btw - sorry for the lack of progress in here but atm i'm really busy with real life stuff so i couldn't create too much new stuff worth being posted. Some of the buildings you will find in next LoBo releases and once i get enough time left i will continue working on the whole pack. ~S~ CD

    Addon/Mod Ownership - Q&A.

To cut all the speculations, this theory is NOT true. So far they've asked only 2 people that I know of. However, they haven't asked me and a number of certain other people. My theory was only built from true facts yet - like you said above - they were asking 2 people and those two people were the only ones i've seen responding yet. Your reply was the first one to confirm that they did what lots of people were accusing them. You will not hear any good word about them from Chris Death anymore I'd say: "hang them higher" I really hope that noone who's work has been used is getting into further troubles (like i mentioned above) because of what BBN has done here. Also it's a pain that there's not really a chance of checking out, who's work has been used or not besides those pics available for the free folks. ~S~ CD

    Cant see my missions

Just for info: Save (export) to singleplayer will finalize your mission and then it can be found when clicking on Singleplayer button in main menu. The file will be located in the missions folder in your ofp folder as a .pbo file. A simple save in mission editor will save the misison under user/your_name into ofp folder, and the mission can be accessed from the mission editor again to be changed or updated. The filetype of the mission will be .sqm If you choose to export to singleplayer, you cannot overwrite the pbo file by exporting again to singleplayer - you must delete or move/remove the pbo file before from your missions folder. If you have had access to the file during your current ofp session, this won't be possible => you need to quit ofp remove the file and restart ofp. The other variant (sqm) in user missions folder can be replaced by save without problems. Just on a sidenote: export to singleplayer is not only save your mission but also pack it into pbo format, including all other files like scripts or description.ext, soundfiles or pictures or whatever you find inside the name_of_the_mission folder. In case you try to export a mission by using another name than the one you have choosen to save it into user missions, only the .sqm file will be found in the pbo. Same goes for saving an already existing mission into user missions - only the sqm file would be found inside the new name_of_mission folder - scripts you would have to copy over manually. ~S~ CD

    OFP CTD!

I dunno how much ram you really need, but i meant more 2 than 3 with my previous post. As i said - 2 gigs of addons inside one mission is alot. And about playing around with all your addons in editor; i do also like to play around sometimes on desert - sometimes in jungle - sometimes in woodland - but i use different shortcuts for different setups. If i start OFP after watching BlackHawk Down i'm pretty sure that i won't touch some nam stuff, or some winter stuff - thus i wouldn't load that. It's still better to have to quit and restart ofp only for changing the addons, than having to restart the pc because of CTD. But in your case it really seems to be a ram issue because the ctd occurs when using various addons already inside the game. You could off course make some finger-counting about which addons you are using in your map and then compare to their filesize (pbo) - then subtract about 250mb for ofp and if i'm right about 250 for win-xp - and whatelse is running. This would give you at least a clue about which amount of ram you're missing. ~S~ CD

    Addon/Mod Ownership - Q&A.

Before i asumed that BBN asked everybody who's been involved for permission, now after reading Crashdome's post this theory becomes even stronger, but one thing i see is not good: They didn't inform about their plans on comercial use of addons or scripts or whatever, when asking for permission. If it's like that then this is absolutely inacceptable, because it can even take an addonmaker into troubles. Like i already mentioned there's alot of textures for free out on the web and most of them are restricted to non-comercial use only. I'm using for my buildings lots of those too and for sure there are many others who do same (maybe alter them a little bit in photoshop or whatever tool). Now if somebody asks me for permission to use those buildings i'd say yes, but if then later comes out they were use for comercial i'd be guilty of having given permission, and i could get in troubles because of those textures. OK, i'd not be the one who released them comercially to the public and maybe later it would turn out that i have had no fault, but who knows how long it would take and what troubles i could get in, until this would be sorted out. ~S~ CD

    OFP CTD!

Sorry if you're upset because of my post (especially because of sarcasm mode) but what i did want to show you is: compared to: + = You will need more RAM (at least 2 gigs) as i doubt that you gonna use more than 1 gig of addons at a time. ~S~ CD

    OFP CTD!

[sarcasm_mode] I have an empty '2 Liter' bottle and i want to put 5 Liters inside. Whenever i try that the floor gets wet but i did every required things that the water goes into the bottle [/sarcasm_mode] Do you really need 5 gigs of addons at the same time being activated? I know it's annoying when you want switch from woodland to desert or jungle, that you should restart ofp and use a different modfolder setup, but sometimes it does help not to waste resources How much RAM do you have installed? Try setting up your modfolders wisely so that you don't run stuff that you don't need. Maybe you try to run even in the actual mission, where you put some addons into, just too much for your ram. -nomap should prevent ofp from loading all addons into ram by default, but when you use an addon in a mission, off course it'll be loaded into ram - and if there are too much of them in relation to available ram, even a -nomap can't help you of anything. My post is just a guess because you didn't post anything specific - btw. ~S~ CD

    Addon/Mod Ownership - Q&A.

Just have a look at turbosquid (google will find it) and check out for textures or model's prices. You'll then probably see, why some addonmakers start getting upset when use their work without permission. Like Sigma already mentioned, this is not even limited to the gaming world, as it's being used for advertisement, or architect's previews or even movies. Like i already posted in a previous thread about that topic, models or textures, may have their own restriction (talking about those being imported into o2 - especially models as textures is another story anyways) and whatever an EULA for program A would say, if program B doesn't allow it's result being used comercially, then the converting by program A will not make it owned by program A at the end. Same goes for free stuff taken from the web or elsewhere, being restricted in their use - no license or whatever with anybody else than the owner can change this restriction and no other company will be able to say that this is now their's because it has been used with their tools. But they could disallow the use of their tools in combination with whatever they want - e.g: you could then read in license that models from 'Electronic Farts' must not be imported - and maybe even a reason why (additional). ~S~ CD

    O2 light license

Guys, don't try to include the contents of the other thread in here, as i'm sure this one would become closed too then  As far as i could read before the other one got closed, it's been looking like somebody has stolen someones work, but then again there's been near the end a statement from one of the addonmakers being involved, and he said that they asked him for permission - i'm pretty sure that they were asking all the other ones too, and until there's no proof of being not so, we should all let this untouched. :edit - i did not name anything/anybody, nor did i accuse anybody of something (or of nothing), therefore i will not edit this post, as suggested one post further. If this post is reason for a later discussion, i will off course change the text, but i doubt it will be. ~S~ CD
