Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

If it had been implemented, there wouldn't have been a penalty against France, because the Portuges' would have been 2 or 3 player less because the 5th referee would have seen lots of dives and told the main ref that. Â Portugal would have been playing nice 7 men defense against France then. ~S~ CD That doesn't sound logical... because if there were a fifth referee the portuguese wouldn't have to make that many doves because they would simply and fairly score goals against France without them being stopped by the defence's faults... Â errm - which fouls? Do you want say now that Portugal's players have been forced to diving because of bad referee's during WC? Â Hey - give football a chance - Portugal had 94,25 minutes time to score a goal against France - they missed their chance - there was no need for dives - ya must know - the more dives a team makes, the less a referee will believe it was a foul. Even more - they missed half of their goal chances because of being fouled by France's 12th player (and i don't mean the ref by that). Not only once has been mentioned that Portugal could have had a chance to score a goal but instead of trying it - they choosed the 'fall down' variant. :edit - the french player was Sagnol and if you did look the replay exactly, you could see that only what could have happened because of Sagnol would have been that Ronaldo wouldn't have been falling like he did It was totally clearly visible that Ronaldo in this situation only tried to jump through the two french defenders just to fall down like being shot in back from a gatling gun or so. Sagnol had his hand for a short moment at Ronaldo, but if you want say that this did cause Ronaldo to fall like he did .... well - then you are (forgive me now plz) blind. ~S~CD

    Modules for game2

If i understand you right, then you will need the core game to be able to play the game itself. If you are now let's say a pilot and you like to play the game from perspective of a flight sim you gonna buy the flight sim module. Now you will still play the same game but when flying a plane you will just have much more detail and hardware support like flight control systems etc. I could imagine that you maybe even get different radio traffic upon the flight module or different huds with more detail too. Now when entering a mp game it'll be not important if you own a module supported by the server or not - if you own it, you can use it, if not you use what you have (core game will be a must). For everybody it will everything look same, just from your perspective you will have a difference based upon the module you are additionally using. AI will not need to be scripted different because of a module, because they will belong to the core game's engine - the module just affects your point of view. If it's like this, hell that would be great - i'd love it - i voted for variant 1 - if it's not like this - well then i voted wrong ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

IMHO this worldcup was one too early for Ronaldo. I think he didn't realise that this is a serious tournament and not just a kiddy contest. He thought he could come there and be the start and all girls would cry for him and bite into their cappies like they did for the Beatles those days. From first Portugal game in this WC i was thinking that he is rather one player less for Portugal than one more. Time will come when he probably will show his skills in combination with good teamplay - we'll see. ~S~ CD

About english fans i must admit: A few years ago (well maybe even more than just a few) i've been watching a game of a german club agains Liverpool me thinks. I'm not entirely sure if it was Bayern Munich, but they won 5:0 in Liverpool and english fans were totally fair and were loud celebrating the good performance of the german team. That was really impressive to me those days. ~S~ CD

That's what i also said few posts of mine before - english players stay upright longest. One man has to be mentioned also here: Pavel Nedved who once was going to the referee which gave a penalty because of a foul on Nedved in penalty box and he told the ref that it wasn't a foul and then the penalty was canceled. What a sportsman. ~S~ CD

Garcia - i think we should end our discussion here - you're trying to put my reply into pieces and answering in a way to make me look like the idiot here, but you are not happy with the WC - i am, whoever play in the final i'll be fine with it and even more: however they came there - at the end they will have deserved it. If you don't like WC then don't watch it - i could now put lots of your posts in the past two days together, but i'm getting bored of that, and for sure everyone else too  I'm gonna watch the final - prolly you not, because for you it'll be a boring game - well cya 2010 in ArmA off topic complaining about boring Italians and whoever will start to adopt this boring successful tactics.  Allez les Bleus - vaj vaj Azzuri :edit - just added a comma on the right place ~S~ CD

hmm - i already mentioned it in a similar discussion in a mapfact thread when being asked what is missing on objects: A so called 'Donnerbalken' that's the german word for a field toillet  You will find it in every field camp where there's no civilized infrasturcture given.  ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

They've got nothing to lose, except the WC finals, which is more than enough to play cowardly. I think they've got to be wasted like never before on alkohol and drugs if they're gonna get even close to thinking like that... Ah yeah Garcia - i almost forgot about your poor attempts to make this WC looking poor. I don't get what's your prob. So tell me now - which two teams (including not qualified teams) you would like to have seen in the finals? I don't get it - really I'm sure - if we gonna see the best match ever you will find it boring full of dives and not to forget to mention the ref' being worst ever. In any case the wrong team would have won the final. YOU are the one who make football 'not attractive', not the teams themselves - think about it. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Just one last before the finals: Maybe it's all looking like to become a boring final because two teams with perfect defensive are challenging eachother. That's exactly the point why it will be a very attractive final. Imagine - Zidane will play his last game - he will try everything possible to make it unforgetable. Also two defensive perfectionists will think - hey' it's time to play football now - we have nothing to loose - just to win. Also - both teams know their strengths are in defensive and now it'll be up to offensive to win that game. I'm gonna tell you even more now: France will dominate the game by posession - Italy will play excellent counterattacks with one two passes and one player running alone onto Barthez. France will have some kewl offensive situations and maybe - maybe it'll be just a standard situation which decides about the outcome, but it'll become a very hot final. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

That's unfortunately going to be true. France will find a way to somehow (with the assist of the ref eventually) sneak past Portugal man I hate to be RIGHT! So you mean when a player gets fouled in penalty box, the ref should look to the nice Portugesian women up in the seats - or what? a healthy man doesn't fall down JUST like that... there was only a little if any contact. the same goes with the 1/4 final against spain when henry ran over the spaniard and got a scoring free kick for that. I could talk about the semi-final back in 2000 but I don't believe in favoritism right? by normal reaction you must mean that if one feels a little touch he should go down like he was shot between the eyes? Sorry PainDealer, but what the heck? France has won the game and they deserved it. I really don't want argue anymore about dives, because the last 'diving specialist' has gone tonight and that's it. It was a fould - ref gave it - point. Portugals players were """"" fouled too - like Brazilians Ronaldo one round earlier but the ref did watch the game aswell. A healthy man when getting fouled in penalty box will fall except he plays for England (hats off for you britt's on that one). And also a healthy man when getting fouled in penalty box will by any chance try to add some theatralic moments so that the ref. for sure will take notice of the foul. If that healthy man tries to procceed with his chance he maybe will fail because of the interupting of the defender who has fouled him before - this will end up in a goal kick and you will see 100's of replays of the fould but the chance has gone - still 0:0 Fact is: Henry would have had a chance one on one but the Portuge's player knew how to avoid it - he just didn't know how to hide that from the ref. And because you're speaking about 2000 quarter final - it's been hands from Xavier and it's even been a ref from Austria (my country) - it was hands and it was turning the ball into a totally different direction than the ball was supposed to. And btw - France was even there the better team and deserved to procceed against POR. ~S~ CD

    just a few boxes/crates

@Prodetar2: i speak now from experience, once upon a time i also thought i can do everything in editor by setposs'ing things. To be honest: it's shite and rather pointless while ineficient and nobody will need it. OK, let's roll back the wheel: i installed OFP on june 21st in year 2001 onto my harddisc and believe me or not - i made everything being possible from ingame editor yet. Then there was that time when O2 became available to the comunity and i gave it a try. I downloaded BRSSEB's tutorial on how to set it up and i failed. I thought: i don't need that shit - i'm a mission editor and i did just want to have a look anywayz. ...but... few months later i gave it another try and i could install O2 correctly and i created my first crate. Well - this was the startshoot - i've learned meanwhile texturing and 3D modelling and that's a rather kewl thing you cannot imagine. If i get an idea of a building i just startup O2 and start creating it how i want - here are some examples: You do it just how you like it and even more - AI can use it too - not only players like in setpos'ed buildings how you are creating them at the moment. Ya know - BunkerBaukasten might be a nice project but it's just for play around in editor like putting some 'lego pieces' together. In Oxygen you can make your own 'lego pieces' and put them together exactly by milimeter. If you get in troubles, there's still a great comunity which will help you with their experience so that you can procceed. Don't waste your time with setpos'ing some objects in editor it's not worth and you'll not get back anything from it. ~S~ CD

So you mean when a player gets fouled in penalty box, the ref should look to the nice Portugesian women up in the seats - or what? Honestly it wasn't a bad fould but it was a foul - totaly visible in replay, even if Henry didn't need to fall like that but that's normal reaction aswell, because a fouled player will always try to make a referee take notice of that. On the other side - Portugal didn't get lots of yellow cards for well timed dives. It wasn't the greatest match tonight but France scored a goal and wasn't in the need to do more - you must understand that games like these are to important to get lost because of noobish' offensive play - Portugal was in the need to score but they failed. Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Nah Garcia - football is sports and a profession is a profession. Popularity is popularity ... etc. You said: football is about entertainment. I say: entertainment is about make money out of football and it's a side effect but to be able to play football you don't need anything but 22 players and a ball and a place where to play. If noone would watch a game of 22 guys running behind a ball, whilst two of them are just waiting for the ball to come, it would still be football. Attractive football will just help to make the game more popular and to get more money out of it. A team that wins will be liked so your statement isn't very true about that. Your arguing anyway is rather pointless as yesterday it was good playing - nothing boring - Italy played well against Czechians - Ukrainians - Germany - those 3 games were for sure not boring. Just because the games didn't end like you expected it doesn't guarantee a boring final. If you don't want get what i say, i can't help you anymore. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Just that one Garcia: seems you missed the point. When football is entertaining, some people with lots of money can make even more money. Football is supposed to win the game. I also prefer attractive football but i say again: if you win the cup, nobody will ask you later how - everybody will just remember who won. ~S~ CD

    Phonograph

err wait - O2 messed up the texture? Look i've taken exactly this texture now and changed it in photoshop from jpeg into tga format. Then i opened textview and saved changed it into pac. Now i didn't modify the texture itself, what would make the result look better or so - so don't look on quality - just on the colour: I dunno what O2 should have messed up here. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

@Garcia: Ghana and Ivory Coast played well attractive offensive football - they failed both. Shite playing Brazilians won 3:0 against Ghana and 1 week later nobody asks about the 'how' anymore. Italy probably plays boring for you but they play out of a secure defense. They succeeded and not the first time. Ya know - football isn't only scoring goals - the more important is to get less goals than you shoot. If you ask any experienced coach about italian tactics, last what he would mention is that they are playing boring football. Now @all others: Tonight it was a great game, even if the main goal in the first 90" was not to lose the game (from both teams). Though the extra time was exciting and fast and full of excellent football.  And btw - yeah even the big Ballack puts his hands into his face when it comes to contact near the head  (not only Henry does it). :edit Even more: the Italians have stolen them 5 penalty kicks by their 2 latenight goals ~S~ CD

Hmm - looks good except the already mentioned sound-horn. However it doesn't need to be round, as there were also edge'd ones ... BUT: the green texture you were using makes me little bit confused. What material that should be, and where did you see that on such a record player in real life before? I think the original material was usually the same one like for bullets - though i dunno the word in english but in german: 'Messing' - it's a golden looking lite metal. check out this one: messing texture If ya like it - 'right click' and 'save as' ~S~ CD

    Destructable buildings/walls/etc

sorry but i think tht 90% of people who would use this would be placing itin editor anyway. i have maybe coma across 20-30 serious island makers and 1000`s of mission makers.this adon will be my legacy to OFP and when finished i hope to move on to arma. Well sorry to say that but 100% will use that for place it in editor because the island makers will then not see any usage of it. But you downgrade your hard work by that way of thinking IMHO. This will then end up in a just for fun addon, nothing seriously comming out of it. Destroy the building missions will come over and over but i can't imagine made by serious mission makers. Now imagine if there were 20-30 mission makers and 1000's of serious island makers (because you mentioned that). What a boring situation this would be - everyday a new map but no missions for them. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Wow Thx Zizou for your answer to replies like: 'if one is to old he is too old no matter ....' anybody remember that one It was a little bit like the 98 final, when Brazil was way to nervous and couldn't get anything right - just one difference 98' France made 3 06' just 1 goal. Brazilians did look very helpless tonight and French were always doubl'ing Brazilian offensives what ended in nothing usefull for the Samba team. French players were almost everytime the 'one step' faster, like those days when they became champions WC and EC. btw - Ribery shouldn't be forgotten - he's made an awful performance too and also Viera - formerly known as Mr. Yellow Card guaranted, nowadays laid off his yellows and has become a very constructive player. The devensive performance of France in general at this tournament was amazing besides that one mistake against South Korea. Anywayz - Brazil was before the first game started not my favourite and i wasn't surprised either that Argentinia yesterday failed. Europe to Europeans and Rest of the world to errm Brazilians (well and South America to Argentinians too). Allez les Bleu (my first Banana ever on this forums) ~S~ CD
