  1. You need to break the cycle as Metal Heart mentioned above. Also you could change the join procedere (but it's no must): With this wayoint of the player where you originally make the join commands for the guys, just activate a trigger (maybe by making summit like: join_player = true). Now have a switch trigger with condition: join_player Syncronize this trigger with the cycle waypoints. After the cycle waypoints give them guys a: join waypoint and give the player as next waypoint a: join and lead waypoint. Now syncronize the join waypoints with the player's join and lead waypoint and all should be fine. ~S~ CD

    setDir UP+DOWN ??

So that's where your imagination comes to a final stage then You asked clearly for wether it's possible to SetDir Up/Down The answer was: No This doesn't mean that there are no workarounds if you let your imagination go to work. There are some invisible targets available, which you could use by a lil' bit of setPos'ing to simulate a SetDir Up/Down. ~S~ CD

Engine limitation busters hall of fame

Well, Deanbosano is doing a good job on that but imho it's still far from being 'realistic building destruction'. It's more like destructable buildings and Deanbosano never mentioned it to be 'realistic' building destruction. Also it is only useable for buildings being modell'ed for that and not 'all' buildings. It's also not an engine limitation or has ever been one, rather that it's just put more effort in creating a building and thus using way more resources by using more faces. IMHO breaking an engine limitation is to do something that hasn't been possible in theory before somebody found a solution. BIS could have implemented that aswell but didn't for the sake of performance. P.S: i don't wanna downgrade Deanbosano's effort into it that's just my opinion. ~S~ CD

    object returned as string!?

hmm - i see an error but it shouldn't be related to your error message; sw1 is a numeric variable (like seen in your first script) in your second script you try to access sw1 as an array <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">?_1 == sw1 select 0: sw1 = [] Why don't you just hint format the contents of your variables on screen to check if they're filled with what you expected? ~S~ CD

    Selecting Faces

Also you could when creating the face save your selection temporary by naming it. Another way off course is to select by face and then deselect the unnecessary faces with F4 (select by vert' and using shift+cntrl - it's all about the model and the situation. Bratty's way is also fine. Everybody has his own technique in doing it and it's one of the great challenges of O2 that during creation of a new model you'll always find new ways of doing it ~S~ CD

    random selection

Well, but then the first element doesn't have half of the chance. If you subtract 1 from 0 it's -1 Maybe the chances are even if you subtract only 0.5 from the whole array count. ((random 4) - 0.5). Only what i dunno now is if it would produce a minus number in this case anyway, but if not you could do it with one line afterwards creating the random. ~S~ CD

    Modules for game2

Nephilim - it's not about adding new units to the core game. It's about playing the core game from another point of view, using a different interface. The bonus for buying something is not having different units or equipment, but playing a different game with others playing the core game or even more: another different game. ~S~ CD

    No Texture Loaded problem

Two things that come to my mind: 1) if using Virtual drives (like z:) check also on which path you tried to access your texture. Let's say you make c:\oxygen\ into z: Then you have to take care that your texture is also accessed by z: and not by c:\oxygen\ This mistake did cost me 2 weeks of modelling one year ago. Â 2) Textures don't need be in the same folder like the addon - you can have crossover path's to other addons aswell without any problem - only the paths must be specified correct. Â :edit 3) (well i found a third thing) You can also use .tga textures and let O2 convert them into .pac (me thinks - maybe .paa - not sure anymore) The converted Texture will be found in \data folder afterwards. ::edit - don't blame me now - this one is special for prodetar2's problem 4) after reading your problem in your 'few boxes thread' i got one more thing: Sometimes if you start O2, and load a modell, you cannot load any texture, unless you: save the modell, and reload it again. Sometimes it's also good, if you load a modell into O2, which is already textured (partially or full), to select one of the faces in the correct view, then change to texture mode and right-click to: 'select face form background' Now if you see the texture appearing, you will know that everything is fine for further texture loading - if not, you will need to do what i said above (save/reload). ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

Well - i'm back from being shocked - not about the resultat but about the last minutes of the final. First off i must say - congrats to Italy for the Victory (even if you didn't deserved it ). @Klavan - we will speak later on the construction site ka**o di mare adriatico (this one is just for Klavan, even if any italian will understand, but there's lil bit more in the message and not a personal attack). It was a game without a winner and it was even more closer in the penalty shooting at the end - Trezeguet's penalty wasn't much more far than Zizou's, which was a goal. Italy deserved the win because they scored one more penalty and they were one more on the field at the end. This takes me to the point: Zidane You/We/I/whoever can say 1000's of times that Zidane should not act like this - everybody will be right in that case - it's just sports and should stay on sports level with fair sportmanship. Zidane should stay kewl and calm down whatever the provocation was. ...But - one thing doesn't wan't get out of my brain: France was not behind in score - the game was still open. So no way to say: he gave up and chilled out for show, or because there was no substitute left. Everything was possible until the very last penalty shot at given time. Whatever Materazzi said to Zidane - i'm in no doubt that Materazzi didn't deserve (moralic view) what he got from Zizou. Well, Zidane got his Red at the end - he lost his last game due to his own fault (blackout). But i don't think that it was necessary to provocate a player, which is known in Italy aswell to sometimes have a blackout in a game like this one - his last one - he was being loved in Italy aswell (ok - maybe lil bit more around Torino) but in no way i expected before that somebody will try to provocate him to do anything bad. And another thing which makes me confused: The knockdown of Materazzi was recogniced by the 4th referee on his TV. And? - i mean there were for sure lot's of scenes being noticed by the 4th ref on his TV (like goals or dives or fouls). But nothing of that did change the referee's decision on the field. Once more - i don't want make discussion about wether he deserved the red or not - he did. But there's a little bit unfairness in that only one case, where the decision was made over TV - even if it will be a must in following tournaments to implement the TV's. ~S~ CD

And that's pretty much the only thing of which is not fake of Portugal. Right now I believe not many Dutch people will go to Portugal for holiday this year... as I am one example of us. Â If I were French, I would go to Portugal this year... have a beer and lie down at the beach while I'm laughing at you people, because France won while your team cheated AND lost the match! Â Yes Ronaldo was a good player, if he doesn't lie down. It's a shame Portugal did that, however hilarious to see and much more hilarious the referee doesn't whistle for the fake faults and ridiculous acting. Â Â Do you mean you did plan to go to Portugal in holidays because of the nice ambiente and the climatics and the pretty beaches, but now because of Portugals football team making some few dives, you canceled this? If so - then you're way too far from reality due to some sports event. If you count bad attitudes from sportsmen(or women) of any kind of sport together there will not be very much locations in the world left for you to spend your holidays. And don't get me wrong - if you read previous posts of mine, you'll see that i'm by far a Portugal supporter, but somewhere has to be set a point - point. ~S~ CD

Tutorial : Easy way to create buildings?

But i must say for creating a wall like you mentionend in O2 i just click: create/box - and set it's specifications; x: 6 y: 3 z: 0.5 Voilla i got a wall, now highlighting 'select by face' click on front view on the wall - 'a' - right click load texture - then fit by selection - 'b' - 'a' Same with top view and side view and voilla it's textured. Point is, when i create a building, i think in distances already, i know exactly of what specifications my building will be and off course i'm already used to use O2 - so it's just a few clicks here or there and the building is finished. By click and drag system like i already said, i miss the feeling of the specifications a lil bit. ~S~ CD

    Artillery

Well, i've read only the last two pages, so sorry if this has been mentioned already (i don't want be unrespectfull, but i'm at work right now and can't read much more atm). BF2 style artellery - has been made lots of times in ofp by the simple use of onmapsingleclick and creating the shells. That's nothing magic. But... whoever has been playing BF (or the Desert Combat mod for BF) will maybe remember how artellery strikes system was there. Short summary: one was in charge of a mobile artellery vehicle. Now he could just make the fire and forget mode by shooting on feeling, or and now the brilliant thing - by spotter units. Another guy was using his binoculars somewhere in range of the mobile artellery, and the guy in the arty unit could rightclick to change his view into the other guys binocular view. This ended up in a way more precise artellery strike, in case the spotter and the gunner knew how to use it. If there were more spotters, you could even toggle between the different spotting unit's binoc views. I did like this system and i don't understand why EA didn't keep it that way. I know adopting this system into ofp would have been way harder since the netcode wasn't perfect for syncronising the views of different player units. ~S~ CD

Tutorial : Easy way to create buildings?

I assume it's meant to be easy by the click and drag way of creating faces or solids. To be honest, i've been trying it out for a short, but i couldn't get handy with it. I like the way, how it is in O2 - well it expects a little bit 3D thinking, when creating faces or solids by just thinking in meters or centimeters, but i went good with that. I must admit, that i tried to make models blueprints on paper with a pencil, but i prefer the way it's done in O2. Well, i also must say, for the first time i tried O2, there was nothing than bad words flying through my room, so maybe i've overseen something on that first try with sketchup. ~S~ CD

I forgot - was it BF2? Well Blackjack - i also think Germany beats Portugal due to their disapointment about not getting into the final and the Germans will try to get what is possible to get still. I hope for France beating Italy in an exciting final full of pure football. ~S~ CD

Football World Cup 2006 in Germany

I must agree that Miguel's fall can't be achieved as diving. He was falling down - Paulette who tried to let him the ball back for a good chance couldn't see what has happened and was heavily argueing for a fould. Well if he didn't see what has happened, he shouldn't complain - but however. Miguel fellt on his own - he took an injury but i can second that he wasn't diving. If he would have told the referee that it hasn't been a foul in case ref had given a freekick .. is another story - but that's just theory and not worth a discussion, because it didn't happen. Blackjack - don't take some comments personally, i think the 'i hate Portugals' statement was rather symbolic meant than really - i for myself did congrat you for bringing the discussion back onto sports level instead complaining about dives - stay with us here and enjoy the last two games, whatever comes. ~s~ CD

Excellent summary of the game Blackjack - and you're right there weren't that much dives, but it was just a reaction on that '5th referee had given a penalty for Por' post. Maybe you just forgot to mention Figo, who had the skill and will to do something but not the power at the end. However - thanks for getting us back to the sports aspect of the game. ~S~ CD
