Yeah, something that enables the RPC something or other to "terminate unexpectedly". I found a the info, and patch, here: Buffer Underrun in RPC...

Nah. It never stopped the AI gunner from getting out of the Commanche. The last time I tested it with doors closed, the AI gunner got out as order. I didn't want him to but he got out. How about, we order them out, if the door's closed, they open it?

OUTSTANDING WORK, BAS! I love the shading effect when I lower the visor!!!!! And the new rifle in-hand anim, while riding "shotgun"! May I jump to something I would like to see in another iteration of the Blackhawks/ all your helos? Please, please, please, this is by no means a knock on your efforts nor your product....but I had expected this functionality in your helos, as it's appeared in others'. Decisive Killing Machines showed with their Commanche that the get out action can be disabled while inside the helo, and open hatch added. Get out would be displayed only when the doors were open. It seems a bit redundant to have animated doors on when it's possilbe to exit the helo without opening them, either the pilot doors and the cargo doors.

LOL...Ahem.....Lemme clock this sucker back doooowwwwn!!!! Thanks! Â I will get back to you on this. But right now I must ask, should I leave the FSB tweaking until later also, when I get that HS and fan combo? I don't recall how (I think by entering the series of number listed on the CPU box into a "calculator"), but I did confirm that my 2100 is a T'bred.

If you've played Steel Beasts, the AI driver does this, when you the player are in the Commander or Gunner positions, and your tank's engaged.

Sort of off-topic, but I always loved that out of most action films, esp. those with Arnold, or Dolph, or Sly, or VanDamme, you could take home some really funny one-liners. "I just want to eat"-Universal Soldier "I'll be back", etc. T1, T2 "...Mister 'I-am-the-law!' "-Judge Dredd "I like you Sully, that's why I'm going to kill you last"-Commando. But of late, nothing. The "best" out of T3 was "talk to the hand"??

Folks, I just recently started using WinXp (after putting it on the game rig I built myself), but I am getting those annoying Messenger Service pop-ups! How on earth do I get rid of/disable it. Every book and magazine I glance through does not address this at all. Please help. This is very frustrating, esp. when playing OFP MP. Thanks in advance.
-
Thanks a lot, folks. I was seriously ready to go back to Win98 or wait for XPlite to come out. Thanks!
-
Well, the game rig is built, but I want to get it connected to the one cable connection I already have. I don't know if it's a simple matter of getting a router, and a pair of ethernet adapters, one for each PC. I'm not looking for anything "fancy", but just to get the new rig online. Recommendations for specific brand names, and of course technical tidbits will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link, CrashDome. I think I may settle on the DI-614+ as it serve in a wired and wireless capacity. I'm thinking, hook up the new rig with the Asus A7N8X deluxe mobo to it using the on-board LAN ports, and buy a either a USB or PCI network adapter for the nasty eMachine. Thanks, everyone.
-
Okay okay okay  I think I've nailed it down. I think I'll go the wired route for now, and make use of the onboard LAN ports on the a7n8x dlx. Let me throw this at your for approval:If I've researched this correctly, then I will need 1) An LNE100TX 10/100 LAN card for the PC without a LAN port 2) A BEFSR41 Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch to link the two to the cable modem I already have in place. I probably could do better than Linksys, as I've read some negative reviews when shopping through PriceGrabber....But from what I've seen of D-link (or was it Netgear?) I would have to get a separate switch, and a router, and a LAN card.
-
LOL, the more I get answered, the more questions come up. With regard to my two PCs, my wifes computer is hooked up to the internet via an external modem connected to the PC with a Linksys USB NIC. The OS is Win 98. My new rig has an Asus A7N8X dlx, with both 3COM and nVidia LAN ports. Obviously, this is the one not hooked up to the internet. The OS is Win XP Home. I would like my wife to be able to surf the net and for me to play around in OFP at the same time. What I'm getting thrown off a bit with in all this tech-speak is what a switch is, and if it applies at all to my wanting to hook up at the most three computers to the one cable connection. I'm leaning toward the wireless route, but again, some of the definitions/hardware requirements are quite frankly losing me.
-
So, just to confirm, I'm looking for something like this Nexland ISB SOHO, basically a combo a cable/DSL router with a built-in, four-port, 10/100 Ethernet hub, although something not as expensive?
-
Yeah, thanks....Always wait for that 3d or fourth opinion.

This suggestion is probably better suited for the animations or modelling threads, but this has to do with aiming: Hand in hand with what I would guess to be better collision detection is the ability to rest part of your weapon or combination of weapon and body on support, e.g. sandbags or low wall. ~I open up the bipod of my light machine gun and rest it on the low wall/sandbag. ~I click my right mouse button to aim in, but no yet use the "real" iron sights. ~I hit ALT and hold to use the iron sights or optics, and I fire. ~Now, while still holding the RMB and left ALT, I need to raise my aim, i.e., point the barrel higher. ~So I hit and hold the left CTRL and, moving my mouse up or down, left or right I can adjust my aim/body position up (move closer into the support) or down (squat a little bit) or left or right (a slight lean left or right), without the bipod leaving the low wall/sandbag. (I think this is what's in use in Raven Shield...Sounds nifty anyway.) ~If I need to step left or right but keep the bipod on the support, I would simply hit A or D.
-
LOL.Amen to that, quiksanD! Honestly, and for me, it detracts from the feeling of immersion to see those bear claws. I hope the graphics upgrade includes better mating of hand(s) and weapons....
-
No, you're just plain sorry.
-
I assume when suggesting improved airports, we want those that have runways and taxiways that cross each other, perpendicularly, etc. And for those maps created by users, the ability to designate the approach and take-off patterns, etc. All that great flight sim stuff!
-
Something basic I'd like to see is soldier turning animations when using the mouse. As it is now you hit either the default X or C, or Del/End keys and you see a "real" turning animation. When you turn with the mouse, your soldier "spins".

My idea: Choose your machine gunner  "F ?" then go to 'engage' or 'action' in the command menu and then have an option to 'suppress'. Once selected you right click and draw a window around the area you want him to fire on. You could use a hot key to turn suppression on or off.<span id='postcolor'> In sum: area fire, as well as point fire on inanimate objects. "Contact...Right Front...Enemy in the bushes....Light 'em up..." (If you've ever played either of the Combat Mission games, then you know how "sexy" area fire is, esp when tanks are throwing smoke into the treeline, and one of your platoons machineguns is throwing lead into that same treeline! Mmmm...:p  )

Already got ya covered there, slick: Movement to contact. React to contact.

And this is what I'd like among the new anims: this would be my AI squad (and my "character") while walking/marching.<--CLICK THE LINK. If I halt my patrol (by stopping my march) and not move forward for about 20 to 30 seconds (or I call or signal "Halt" with the ACTION MENU), then my AI squad takes a knee, facing outboard and to the rear....Another 20 to 30 seconds elapse without my moving forward, then the patrol goes prone, still maintaining all-round security. The action/command "Move" then appears in my ACTION MENU, which I must click to continue the patrol. When halted, the AI would not continously adjust themselves relative to my position until ordered to do so. This would allow me to move away from the patrol to do a map check (btw! I like the map and compass set-up in Viet Cong), or whatever.
