    Funny & interesting videos

I did a quick search, seems like there isn't any thread like this yet. So, why not having a single thread where we could post some nice vids we've found on the web ? Double Life 6Bqq38WZctA The best video game advertising I've ever seen. It goes way beyond Sony or Playstation, IMHO it just defines what video games are. Almost 10 years after I'm still having goose bumps when that kid says : "and conquered worlds". If you've never failed, you've never lived e8Rw7D8BRXI Shockwave of Massive Explosion IlS6535HBNk Already post this one a few months ago but it wasn't available outside the UK. Now it is :) Jesus will survive WLKk00OYKhU :D

    DCS Flaming Cliff 3 Update

lol, honestly how can people say there's anything bad in that news ? Give an inch... On ED's store this is what people are promised to get when they buy FC3 : Never ED talked about aircraft AFM or other 3D pits. All that is offered on a silver plate for the FC3 owners...Seriously there's nothing else to say except "thanks a lot !"
  4. Personnally, the first time I've really enjoyed playing exclusively in 1st person view was in DCS A-10C. Not only because the cockpit was made up to a level almost never seen before but mainly due to their brilliant 6DOF implementation. It all nice to have HI-Fi cockpit with clickable switch but what's the point if you're totally unable to look at what you want to look at? That was my experience with ToH and its crappy 6DOF (sorry BIS). Actually this is probably one of the main reason why I've never enjoyed flying in ToH. It felt like you were a bowling ball sitting on a road cone, don't know how to exactly explain that but I'm still mad at BIS for screwing up such an important aspect of flight sim. I'm glad BIS finally changed their minds about vehicles interior, this was really a step back since ofp.

    My RC T55 model

Great work Gachopin ! What scale is this one ? 1/35 ?
  9. The ArmA 2 "zoomed in " view was actually the real 1:1 view, well if I recall correctly that's what the devs said in a previous thread where people were complaining that zooming wasn't realistic. So if you look through a box of the size of your monitor, your FOV will be similar to what it was in A2 when "zoomed in".

Woh, brilliant video EvroMalarkey ! Absolutely love it, can't wait to see more ! A couple of pics I've already post in the ArmA 3 picture thread but this thread is a little bit more "comment friendly" so... 13. Hi, Sorry if this has already been asked but did anyone found what movement category (in the option panel) was binded to the camera.sqs movement ? It used to be the bulldozer but it's missing from the Alpha. So I was wondering if this was omitted on purpose or if those movement were binded to something else. I know I can move the camera with WASD/ZQSD or the arrows and pan it with the mouse, what I would like is to do all that with my joystick (stick + throttle) like I used to do in ArmA 1 and 2. Right now my throttle is mapped to camera movement and it works fine but I can't find how to map the "panning axis" to my joystick. Also, if I recall correctly, in the previous titles the camera was "altitude locked". Basicly you were able to move in the 3 dimension indepedently. In ArmA 2 If the camera is 50m up in the air, you lock (F) an object on the ground and press forward (W) = the camera remains at the same altitude, just moving in one dimension (x) In the Alpha if you do the same thing the camera will move towards the objects, moving in 2 dimension (x and z) Is there a toggle key for that ? Thanks

Great pic :p And that must have been an awesome trip Papanowel !
  16. Nope. I'm just going to talk about myself here but when BIS announces a new sequel the first things that matters for me are : - Is it still an open world, can I go anywhere on the map without being blocked by an invisible wall ? - Is it still mod-friendly ? - Is the gameplay still "simulation-oriented" ? - Does it still have the mission editor ? If the answer to all these question is "yes" then, for me, the game is a success. Those features are the backbone of this serie for a decade now. Dropping just one of these would make me, and probably hundreds of others, incredibily mad at BIS, I'd trully feel betrayed. Fortunately for us, BIS seems to know that very well and they've never tried to get rid of those features. That's one of the main reason this community is so faithfull in its devs, they've never threated us as milking cows. BIS provided lite version of their DLC'sto avoid the fragmentation of the online community. They've added content to their games (vehicles, campaign, etc), for free, when no one was asking for it. Just like that, a gift ! They're quite unique in the video game industry. Now, I admit some of the "old timers" might seem a bit rude sometimes, no one is perfect ! But you have to realise we've been dealing with this for years. Years and years of suggestion on how to dumb down the game or make it more similar to other FPS. You can have a look at other sims forums (Eagle Dynamics, VRS,...), you won't see these kind of suggestions. The problem with ArmA is it's the only one of it's kind (simualtion) in it's own category (FPS) So we have a constant flow of people who are completely unfamiliar with simulation, let alone infantry simulation, requesting for this or that to change because it's present in XXX game for YYY years or because, let's face it, it's just too fucking hard in comparison their previous FPS. When you see someone stating that "no one really play this game for the single player" it just shows how ignorant this person is and after 10 posts like that some people start to get mad. I, and I'm pretty sure this is true for many others, have spent thousands of hours playing this serie in single player. Between the mission editor, the new mods and maps, etc there're just so many things to do !
  17. What you don't get is that some of these people have been around for almost 10 years, supporting (and building!) this serie when the majority of FPS gamers were spitting on it, judging it ugly, crappy, full of bug,... Then comes the day of the release of a new sequel and hundreds of new faces appear (usually coming from more arcade shooters) on this forums and require this or that (again, usually features present in arcadish FPS) to be implemented in game. And this is the perfect example. People stating it would be more realistic to have a animation for firing mode selection just don't understand what they are talking about. Gameplay wise it would add NOTHING to realism. It's just another useless, exagerated piece of eye candy people are used to see in other games. There are far more important things devs should be working on at the moment than those kind of animation. You might see the arma community as very conservative, it's not. It's true that many among us have always been afraid that BIS would eventually drop the simulation aspect and go with a more mainstream gameplay, more appealing to the masses. There are dozens of CoD/BF like shooters, there's only one ArmA and we don't want to loose it. Also keep in mind about any suggestion made here in the last couple of weeks has already been discussed to death in the last few years. That might also explains why some of the "vets" seems to be tired with this constant flow of "new" suggestion. Yes, we've been around longer than you do but that doesn't make us better or smarter person. But we might have a better understanding of what ArmA is and should be about if it wants to remain a "true" sequel to the serie. Playing this serie for a decade gave to some of us the ability to better foresee how a feature will affect the gameplay, how it might be exploited or how it could be usefull to mod or mission making. By buying ArmA, people have made the deliberated choice to try something new, something completely different than any other FPS on the market. Now it's up to them to adapt themselves to this new style of gaming and not constantly trying to make it look and feel like any other FPS.

Oh, just one question about the formation lights. Are you sure they are actually green ? I always thought these lights could either be yellow or blue. I know sometimes the blue ones are referred as green but...well...they still look like blue :P
  20. Please BIS, could you integrate a small tool like Clayman's Anims Viewer ? I don't know if Clayman is still around, I don't know if his tool will be ported over but it's just a must have for anyone whos into pics/vids making. A fully adjustable field of view instead of the current 3 step FOV (zoomed out - normal - zoomed in) Probably completely useless for the infantry but once in a vehicle it is a lot more convenient to be able to "lock" your fov at a desired angle. Basicly what's available in flight sims (DCS, FSX, etc)
