  1. Awesome! Thank you for letting me know. Really glad to see this mod moving forward and expanding in the future. I missed the immersion being a dedicated EOD technician out on the virtual battlefield.
  2. Is it possible to get the IED's placement to work in MP via Zeus?

    Project RACS

That's the beauty of ArmA. Don't see something you want, you're able to sit down and do it yourself since ArmA and it's developers embrace modders. ;)
  4. You're not far off. It's been a goal of mine since the start, and my focus will eventually shift to such an endeavor once things are released. I've wanted to have some sorta group going structured around it. Life with a physical disability such as my muscular dystrophy takes a lot out and away, especially knowing you don't get to follow what is in your heart like friends and family around you. Project ASTFOR has been one of the very few little good moments to focus on, and as much as I enjoy working on it and seeing my creation take root, its release is certainly not the end goal for me, but to see it sprout past that into something bigger for myself to escape equally into fully and lose myself within.
  5. Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much, man! You have no idea just how happy you made me today! Haha

    JSRS4 - APEX 1.2

He has a new job now, and from what he told me on skype--it's one where he does 2 shifts. So he's just busy with real life right now.

    Visual Upgrade – Feedback

I'm not sure if I was seeing things or not, maybe anyone else on Dev build that uses a little DOF can tell me, but when the visual update first came out I noticed I could easily boost my DOF setting past 45 to around 115 before reticles start visually going weird (looking like I'm crossing my eyes or something). However with the recent patch update to the Dev build, it looks like it reverted back and I had to set it back to my old setting. Has any other DOF users noticed this at all with the introduction to the visual upgrade, or have I finally snapped and gone completely cuckoo? lol
  8. You know, normally I'd have a snappy comeback but that holds so much truth...I got nothing, lol. Well 'least you can't say I don't keep you medics busy during missions. :P I still remember Jarhead and me's infamous EOD mission in ArmA 2. Me casually walking up to an IED thinking I was such a badass because I watched Bomb Patrol: Afghanistan a billion times, "It's ok, I got this..." before being fatally blown clear across the other side of the map. I've fared no better to this day. Needless to say, if I'm handling EOD tasks in Asteland, we're in biiiiiiig trouble. Well, at least I'll keep road workers super busy patching all those massive craters throughout the country.
  9. Really, really appreciate this kind of feedback fellas. I'm no expert by any means, nor even a layman when it comes to the real of military technicalities. ArmA's been one of those learning opportunities for me to pickup things here and there from reading posts from you guys, so this kind of feedback really helps myself and in turn ASTFOR's development in getting things looking and sounding right and plausible. See originally, I was eying a structure kind of along the lines of Estonia, but felt maybe it would be been a bit too limiting when dealing with Asteland's numbers, but then when we looked at countries like Norway and Denmark, I worried maybe it would have been too large. I know Norway's army structure has quite a few "bataljon's". Argh, it's one of those things as you develop your mod that you realize "Holy crap, this is some serious level work to get everything within the realm of plausibility", lol. Keep that feedback rollin' in!
  10. Well, we never said we were very good handling EOD tasks. I suppose we need the extra people, apparently. :P
  11. Yeah makes sense. Though looking at our chart, I've just noticed a pattern of us having a bit of a "battalion" fetish going on. Not sure if that's right or not, lol.
  12. Yeah definitely makes sense that conscription would come into play with Asteland as well. Good point!
  13. I did a rough introductory data and statistics analysis presentation for the team awhile back in hopes of trying to get some rough base numbers down. From what I recall atm we had down the following: Total Pop: 4,032,317 Available Manpower: 2,635,305 Fit for Service: 1,721,524 Reaching Military Age Annually: 52,441 Active Frontline Personnel: 21,563 Active Reserve Personnel: 229,142 (though maybe I should have reversed this amount with Active Frontline numbers?) Again, these were just rough basic numbers just to finally gain some form of idea. Such mathematically calculations are faaaaaaaar from my area of expertise, (at this point in my life and age, it's a miracle to even remember to leave the house with pants on!), so if anything seems really badly off, just remember its rough numbers and can easily be tweaked if need be. :) If anyone is interested in seeing the actual presentation pdf with the layout of numbers, I can remove the unnecessary team-specific pages from it and post the presentation here. It pretty much deals a little with land, air and sea system power as well as oil production/consumption/reserve numbers as well as defense budget, external debt, reserves of foreign exchange and purchasing power parity. [Edit:] As screw it, I might as well post the numbers anyways without the fancy-pants graphics, lol. :P ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAND SYSTEMS Tanks: 45 Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFVs): 423 Self-Propelled Guns (SPGs): TBD Towed-Artillery: TBD Multiple-Launch Rocket Systems (MLRSs): TBD AIR POWER Fixed-Wing Attack Aircraft: 38 Transport Aircraft: 36 Trainer Aircraft: 6 Helicopters: 27 Attack Helicopters: 0 NAVAL POWER Total Naval Strength: 130 Aircraft Carriers: 0 Frigates: TBD Destroyers: TBD Corvettes: TBD Submarines: TBD Coastal Defense Craft: 22 Mine Warfare: 10 RESOURCES (PETROLEUM) Oil Production: 5,492 bbl/day Oil Consumption: 161,890 bbl/day Proven Oil Reserves: 186,090,350 bbl/day LOGISTICAL Labor Force: 1,849,050 Merchant Marine Strength: 76 Major Ports and Terminals: 5 Roadway Coverage: 73,197 Railway Coverage: 4,525,720 Serviceable Airports: TBD FINANCIAL (in USD) Defense Budget: $4,440,000,000 External Debt: $586,700,000,000 Reserves of Foreign Exchange and Gold: $89,500,000,000 Purchasing Power Parity: $211,300,000,000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So yeah, if people with a knack for these kinds of advanced calculations has any suggestions, let us know! But either way, these rough numbers should give a bit of an idea. And yes, I believe we also had Conscription. If it's something all Nordic countries have still, I suppose we'll need to evaluate it further and tweak some numbers. [Edit x 2] Just as a side note how I got those numbers, my wacky method basically was that I looked at the analytical data of mostly Denmark and Finland since these two tend to be on the lower end numbers that fit Asteland. The process then consisted of adding the rough estimate values between these two countries (occasionally other nations of equal size and geography as needed), finding the average value and then subtracting an additional 15-25%. Then using those estimated values as a starting point for Asteland.
  14. Heya Toast, Haha, yes indeed! I can be very detailed-focused with my stuff. I especially love the really little details that most either don't pay any mind to or think as important. It's the little things that go a long way for me. I didn't want to just do this with our content features, but also in the overall creation of Asteland and it's military. From its brief historical origins to its economy and things like ORBAT's and whatnot. I want to tackle it all the best we can, because I feel it brings Asteland much closer to life and believability as it were. I mean how many fictional mods can say they have an actual national anthem?! Haha. It takes longer, and is definitely hard work to make sure everything maintains a sort of believability level even though it's a fictive Nordic country. But is certainly well worth it and pays off in a bigger way in the end. As far as Ranks and structures, our member J0nes did do a mockup chart of our layout that he said he'll post here when he has a moment to do so, though it can also easily be changed, but should give a rough idea of what we're thinking. As far as ranks, I still need to kcik up PS and Illustrator to do some mockups, but We're probably looking at something kind of like Norway or even I believe the British. In other words, trying to go for a smaller and efficient layout than 50 different types of Sergeants and whatnot. So indeed, small and modest is preferred as Asteland--while of decent size overall--wouldn't have a massive force equivalent to say our forces here in the US or something, that'll require a much more massive rank system. Well we certainly appreciate the desire to help. And with that let me say that while 3d modelers and the like are a big help, that we are always welcoming other types of help as well. Even if its helping out in the creation of its history, geographical help, structuring, etc. Y'know, the little details sorta stuff like we've been talking about. That sort of thing also goes a really long way for us as well. The more like-minded creative minds brought together, the better! :) So if you ever have any ideas or suggestions over time, feel free to share them here or you are more than welcome to contact me directly at any time as well!
  15. Shhhhh, don't give me ideas. :P lol
  16. Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well. Not sure if we'll use it for AMW at all in-game, but spoke about the idea of possibly recycling it into sort of a country crest mark for the rifles kind of like how Norway has their shield mark on their 416's. At this rate, knowing me all too well I'll end up with like 50 different variations and designs and will hate every single one of them, as usually everything I design and do I despise, lol. I'm my own worst critic. :P
  17. Bingo! You could imagine the look of my face after hearing all the endless "But a Galil doesn't make sense for a Nordic country!" then by shear accident stumbling upon the existence of the 890c. It was pretty much like: https://media.giphy.com/media/4la2AJWCtl8Pu/giphy.gif :P  So we decided to run with the idea of the FFV if it would have been picked and modernized instead of staying with just SAR's with the Estonian style rails. If anyone is interested in the history of the one and only Nordic Galil that could have been, you can read up a bit on it and its history here: http://www.forgottenweapons.com/rifles/ffv-890c/
  18. Seeing all this work, all I can say is, "I love you", lol. I use to do stuff like this in Armed Assault and ArmA 2. Building stuff like this is a lot of fun. I especially am a fan of your attention to details. Not plopped down things randomly for the sake of it, plus filling empty spaces with objects to make things appear more alive. Nice to see others out there who enjoy making stuff like this as well. Awesome!

    Dynamic Combat Generator

Make sure anything in the @dcg/userconfig folder exists in your arma 3 userconfig folder. And then just make sure to run the @dcg mod. Problem is gone. :) [edit] not sure if it matters about the userconfig directory, just so long as you launch with @dcg directly.
  20. Just a small heads up, the Project ASTFOR team is kind of in need of a modeler to help in the infantry kit department, even if part-time. Fluttershy has become just too busy with real life and other projects to be able to continue work, so we're kind of back to a slight limp in development. Our other 3d guys are tied up in working on getting our THOR plate carrier low poly'ed as well as overhauling our rifles big time. Our uniform is basically done model-wise, including the low poly. We're just missing some smaller-but important-bits such as very much needed footwear. We're also going to need to tackle the helmet thing as well, but right now we just want to get the first primary uniform finished with the footwear first so we can call it done and get it all weighted and in-game. I know most people are already tied up in other projects and such, but even so I figured take a chance and raise up a little S.O.S. and see. :) If not, no worries, it just means a longer wait time, nothing that will kill the project thankfully, lol.

That's what I did, and it works just fine. :)
  22. Is there any info on what exactly this means? I couldn't find any real info on what it means/how to use, etc. Unless my poor eyesight missed it. :D
  23. Yeah when I click it, I see this:
  24. Eargasm for sure. Nice job, Mr. Lax. :)
