Gore Mod / Wound effects
PTV-Jobo replied to icewindo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
I'm already a fan, soon as I've seen the videos of the system at work. Not because of "oh wow, gore!!11oneone", but for the simple fact of getting a little better picture of how horrible combat can be and perhaps also getting us--within ArmA 2's limitations--a bit closer to VBS-like wounds where if you step on an explosive or something you can lose a leg and have to be dragged and evac'ed out instead of getting hit and flying all the way into another galaxy. I heard that BIS has no plans on such a setup for ArmA 3 (a shame), but hopefully if this works out enough and come ArmA 3's release, perhaps we'll be able to get at least somewhat close to something along the lines of this perhaps? I really hope you keep at this, it has a lot of promise. I also throw my vote in for #1 as well. :) -
Esbekistan Map v.1.0 20x20
PTV-Jobo replied to Greenberet40's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Firstly, I just want to thank you very much for putting this lovely map together. Liked the FOB designs and really loved the main base/airfield layout and design. This is yet another great looking (and so far good performance as well!) map for the community to enjoy which gives a way better Afghan-style feeling to ArmA than Takistan IMO. My only complaint is that it kind of sucks when you guys put together such great maps to enjoy, but you never see any real good public missions released. Yeah I know, the whole "make them yourself then" mentality. But, it just boggles my mind sometimes that when things that are released and not tucked away by closed squads tend to get made on or ported to Takistan, when there are clearly way better maps, such as this. My being a crybaby aside (lol), I look forward to playing on this a lot and will have to learn from the bottom up on how to make missions, as it would be an utter crime to not see some missions for this beauty. Seriosuly, you did a great job on Esbekistan. My hats off to you and your talents, sir. :) -
Dammit, now you have this image stuck in my head: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_dgk_5eFrlwg/TTH_44-RonI/AAAAAAAAC2c/-ymPyQTmDFs/s1600/french.jpg Joking aside, I think he might mean about supporting stuff like OFP mod and stuff?

VILAS addons release thread
PTV-Jobo replied to vilas's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Damn, Vilas....looking good! Call me crazy, but I love the LATPAT. I don't know why, but every time I see it I can't help but smile. And now you're bringing it to ArmA. Can't wait! :D -
Will do! *writes up a 10 mile long list for LJ* :p

Has anyone had luck with the cellphones and triggering ied's? I get the phone number once i attach a clacker, so i have to hurry up and pre-dial the number and run away. Pull the phone back up and have to punch anything just to get the number back on the phone. Once i delete the extra digit, i click the center (blue line which i assume is the "send") and nothing happens. Any tips, tricks, etc?

+1 from me as well. Couldn't get it working neither.

Well there's your problem right there--you are going deaf. I have in-game sounds set to 100 and when I go full power on my headset my eardrums feel like they are about to rupture. If you're jamming everything up full blast everywhere and still thinking it's really quiet, then maybe it's time to go see a doctor and check your hearing. ;) :p

I really genuinely hope people aren't nitpicking LJ's work because suddenly his video has a bit more "Flash" and "Drama" to it, that somehow how a video intro is done reflects on the actual work? There is no loss of any Jarhead in the mod. He states new, simply because the fact that the sounds ARE new and that with all the progress and new features of the final JSRS, that it is not only new but the best version--especially by the leaps and bounds the mod has progressed and improved when others thought it was impossible (especially with new features that others thought would drain performance considerably or wouldn't work, period.). Thus, there is no deception, no being overly-flashy or over done, no loss of being true JSRS, but simply stating exactly what the new and final JSRS is--albeit in a more fun and epic manner. I do agree, LJ doesn't need to prove his skills and his work speaks for itself and bears witness to the high quality work he does, but at the same time for the final version there is nothing wrong with trying to experiment and have some fun making the videos as well. In the end, cut him some slack about the video direction, but moreover please don't think how a video is made has any bearing on the quality of 1.5, because you are poorly mistaken. ;)

Not sure about the brand new night stuff, but I have been using the environment sounds for quite a long time now and have not been bothered by any "repetitiveness" factor with the sounds, personally. In a video you might notice it more than in actual missions with friends and concentrating elsewhere, thus the environment sounds really don't sound repetitive at all when playing.
-
JSRS does not use or include sounds from other soundmod's or projects. You could just disable JSRS's AK pbo (s) in theory, I guess? But past that, don't have your hopes up of seeing RHS's sounds included in JSRS.

Addon Developer Workshop
PTV-Jobo replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
That's actually quite a cool concept. I'm sure some out there would consider it a bit weird, but I think it's quite interesting. My wondering is could it be possible to do a ACE or DayZ-like interface to take a needed drink from the camelback to replenish your water-intake? Like maybe r-click on it or have a pop up menu using a user-interaction key? As far as water level--you can make a shape of the camel back and either have the whole thing in varying colors (Green is full all the way to Red for empty) as a whole, or have it "step down" depending on how virtually full it is. HOW it would be accomplish, I'm not sure. I'm just giving a tiny bit of input on the visual aspect if you want to do-away with the hint box. -

Yeah they look sexy already. Can't wait to roll out during coops in these! :D A big special thank-you to the guys for putting these together for the community. :) -
Well when someone finds out its running soldishield and uninstalls the DLC and when he tried to re-install out of curiosity and finds a message that his CD key is no longer valid--that's a serious sounding issue that drove me away from buying it yesterday. Well that and the bugs. I think the LITE is the better way to go right now until BIS pulls their head out. I love BIS as a company, but after how many years with games and DLC's and then to find out about ACR--they should have known better. It was better to just concentrate on A3 fully then do a bit of a half-assed job on a DLC. And to prove my point, I just downloaded the LITE version and Chrome says the exe appears malicious. That's the first time anything of that nature has happened to me with a BIS product. Right now, LJ has a lot of work ahead with the main features with CO. I wouldn't want him risking getting his system effed up because of some DLC.

Task Force 121 pack by Fox '09
PTV-Jobo replied to Fox '09's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Doesn't work. Always lands you on that stupid internet vs hollywood crap. I don't know why people can't just use stuff like mediafire or something. :\ -
Yeah I've seen both points myself today coop'ing with friends. I was able to provide friends with morphine and epi's even though I did not have it on me nor a medic. The second part, I've experienced to the extent where in the interaction menu I always see "remove CAT" even though I've neither applied it to wounded nor have anyone applied one to me. No matter how many times I've clicked to remove, it never seems to change anything in the interaction menu(s) as if it's stuck.

When there is actual news. Until then, there is no point on updating people when there is no real interesting news to share. That goes for ETA's too. I take it from the post count you're fairly new around here, but generally addon makers hate endless posts asking about news and ETA's for releases. We tend to post when there is actually something worth posting. :p But don't worry, work is still moving forward and hasn't died.

Advanced Combat Sound Environment WiP Thread
PTV-Jobo replied to tpM's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
When it's done, period. It may sound a bit harsh, but people need to realize that addon makers don't allow their lives to revolve around their addon making, but vice versa. There is a lot of hard work that goes into addon making--especially with something like this. Unless you've had prior experience, I don't think people begging for eTA's and release date's have any inkling how stressful such work can be and getting it done in a specific time line. It's difficult to give such information, since anything and everything can come up unexpectedly and cause a delay. That's why addon makers generally try to avoid giving dates this way people can't whine when it's not delivered by that time. Please guys, just let them work quietly and be patient. It'll be done when it is ready and not before then. Understand and appreciate the hard work and complexity of such things and allow these guys to work in peace so they can ensure we get the best end-product possible. Nagging people about ETA's and release dates accomplish nothing, especially when the answer is always the same and the one asking already knows the answer to their own question--"when it is done." -
Reshmaan Province v.0.80 beta
PTV-Jobo replied to Fogu's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Same. Waiting for Armaholic to throw it up on their site instead or SIX Updater. -
Basically, we were discussing this while cooping a few times. I told him as I was lugging a MG3 that with all the ammo and stuff he would probably be carrying, he should have had a bit more "jingle" compared to the guys running around. It's just tweaking the movement sounds according to the role and gear. Some like machine gunners might have a bit more gear noise than say a rifleman, etc. So don't get into a panic that there's going to be super elite silent ninja SF soldiers running around. Quite the opposite. LJ liked the discussion and took off with it. He basically wants to add a bit more audio immersion for the class/role. Don't worry. :)

Multi-Session Operations v4.4 released
PTV-Jobo replied to tupolov's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Ah ok, so I can just place the crate (crate/script) down and the map and that's it? I thought I would have to find a hpp or script to edit the weapons I want added that you can buy at the hQ's and stuff like in Warfare how you have to buy your equipment. So in the case of the CTI MSO I thought I'd have to track a file down in there to edit. -
Every time I check this thread, I am filled with both awe and excitement. I am definitely looking forward to integrating this into coop missions when released. It adds a whole new dimension and life into missions. :D

Multi-Session Operations v4.4 released
PTV-Jobo replied to tupolov's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - USER MISSIONS
Not sure if I asked it awhile ago or not, but I was wondering if someone can please direct me to where I can edit in custom weapons for MSO. Was trying to find where to add in custom weapons for example: "mso_24_a2co_cti_us_vs_tak_vs_gue_4-4.takistan", but couldn't find anywhere to edit in my own classes. Maybe I need to get an eye exam, but I'm at a loss for the moment. So if anyone has had experience with tweaking MSO to add in their own weapons for their squad/clan and can point me in the right direction, that would be fantastic. :)
