  1. Sounds wicked already. Will be looking forward to this most definitely. I'm sure me and LJ will be putting this mod to good use with our little play togethers. Ah the fond memories back in A2 as the EOD tech telling LJ to stand back, I've done this before. Only to get my body tossed a mile away mere seconds after that. I don't think he'll trust me any more as an EOD tech. :P

    JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread

I've been using Dragonfyre on the new server some of us over at Casual ArmA Players use (myself, TheD., a few BIS dev's, etc) while others use JSRS and SOS and thus far have no reported .rpt errors or spam from Dragonfyre. I'll have to double check again from the last co-op.

    EWK EOD Project

Man, this is some awesome stuff. Makes me want to watching Bomb Patrol:Afghanistan again. Definitely looking forward to this. I utterly hate the simplistic and lazy bomb-related stuff in ArmA. Would love to have something of real substance in way of a proper EOD setup. CSE offers a great opportunity for dedicated medics, and now I'll have this to be a dedicated EOD role when playing ArmA. Niko's Uniforms Mega Packs

Really, really nicely done mate. <thumbs up>
  5. Speaking of "ignorant" and pulling heads out of ones rectal area, gotta love that little off-topic slide-in from ya. Save it for the non-game related thread sections to air out your political/personal grievances about the world. But to go back to the topic at hand, I think some people already mentioned valid reasons. We all have our own ways, methods, goals and visions. Sometimes they mesh with others, other times it can be a bit of a clash and makes working together a bit of a task. Would be great to someday see something like ACE or better. Right now, just seems like everyone is tied up in their own projects and far too busy for one thing. I have to say, I've been using a mix of AGM and CSE with a few of TMR's modules like the grenade tweaks and already feel some of the ol' ACE magic again.

    JSRS: DragonFyre -- WIP Thread

Agreed. No, we don't. However, when people pour a ton of themselves into their project and people are endlessly complaining and wanting individual tweaks to suit their personal tastes it becomes a pain in the ass. Sorry if this ruffles feathers, but just the way it goes. When modders say, "this is my project and this is how I wanted it to sound/look/etc", sometimes the community has the habit of neglecting to respect that with the typical "Me! Me! Me! Mine! Mine! Mine!" mental state and try to force their own will and changes upon the modder(s). Hell, there was some nutter who was sending death threats to a modder back in A2. That's how annoying people can be, sometimes heh. We've gone through such headaches (minus any death threats...yet. There's still hope to reach that level someday!) all the way back with the first JSRS--just as SOS and others gone through for example. It just happens. That's why it's good to nip it in the bud and state to not do it and anyone doing it will be ignored. So no, we don't need to be coddled. And yes we can hold our own with constructive criticism (keyword is constructive, not "I don't like it, change it for me!" and post a low quality YT video or blurry, pixelated picture, etc). And no, constructive criticism is not the sole core basis at least in regards to people who open wip threads here. People are free to post their work freely to showcase and free to either accept or ignore an individual's criticism...just saying. Either way, we appreciate feedback and constructive criticism. All I'm saying, as well as Kremator was (I believe) was that there's a line between critique and just being an annoying pain in the ass throughout development where people are never satisfied and want everything custom tailored to their own individual tastes. I've lost count how many times I've had to lecture people in our threads, let alone how many times people have gotten so annoying we actually closed threads so we could continue in peace because it was so draining having to deal with it on a daily basis. Something that many in the community who have yet to step into a modders shoes haven't yet understood or gone through, and just think modders/modding teams tend to be stuck up, or just babies who can't handle the never-ending whining (although those who are whining tend to call it constructive criticism in their own delusion), begging for news, or trying to force the modders to change their vision and desires to meet someone else's. It happens, trust me. All I'll say in ending is that we continue to enjoy the feedback, but for the community to also keep in mind that this is LJ's vision for Dfyre. And in the end it's his call. Billions of requests to change every sound around the clock like back in JSRS will be more than likely promptly ignored. :p Things are all WIP and some things are just testing the waters with new system features, thus sounds are all subject to change at any given time. And for those mentioning volume issues--I play ArmA with Dragonfyre with my ArmA sound volume maxed out and my headset volume on high. If I'm going to go deaf in my elder years, then dammit--it's going to be from Dragonfyre and not old age!

    A2 Island Fixes

Yeah I've noticed. I mean they look great, but my issues come with NVG's. Even with no moon in dead of night, the moment NVG's go on and I look into the villages everything gets pretty whited out from the brightness. Even tried AGM's nvg adjustment, but that doesn't help at all. I thought it was my tweaked NVG script but even vanilla NVG's I get the same thing. At least, until I shoot out every lamp I can spot from afar, heh. But other than that, it's pretty nice. :D

    TMR Modular Realism

I've also experienced a bug with the TAR-21 EGLM where you can only use the grenade launcher. I tried removing all mag's and re-adding them back, but still can only actually use the launcher and not the rifle itself. Pretty weird.
  10. Hey guys, Must admit, I'm surprised people still remember our project even exists, haha. It's nice seeing people remember lil' ol' us. :) Yeah, things creep forward here and there. Summer is always a tough one because people usually go on vacation with their loved ones, hit the beaches to beat this heat...or if you're like me, usually curl up into the fetal position and cry while rocking back and forth hoping this heat will pass. :p And yeah, I believe "Phase 1" vests will be molle and setup in similar styles as the Esti's in Afghanistan for example. Plate carriers will come eventually for "Phase 2" additions. We sent all of the infantry assets LJ quickly made in Blender over to Matt (StalkerGB) and see what we can have done in regards to some spiffy lookin' infantry. I think--in regards to the 51% holding on the polls--we'll probably be seeing some form of the Astelandic digital or something along those lines at least. Fleck and M90, while really nice, would risk blending in with any other Scandinavian units that are out or may come out in the future. At least the M90 will. If no Danes come out with a mod in the future, perhaps we could revisit flecktarn as a possible. Either way, we'll first need the infantry assets done and sorted first before camo patterns become any form of concern at this point. We still have a lot to do and sitting on a lot of assets that we could use extra hands to help with--tweaking vehicle models, tank/ifv interiors, help tweak any problem areas with weapon models so they can be uv mapped, uv mapping, weapon texturing, vehicle textures etc. Unfortunately, we just seem to get a lot of fans who can't wait for our mod, and things go deafly silent when it comes to our cries for help from the community. A lot of times because most of the talent out in the community right now are tied up in their own big projects. So all we can do is do what we can little by little. Will keep you updated should any news come through. Thanks for keeping the interest and support, guys. Appreciate it! :)

    Ragdoll'd

To be honest, I've noticed as well when running it only. They look like they are starting the ragdoll and stops mid-way and stands there. Then the only time the full ragdoll comes in is when they are dead. Running latest CBA and this.
  12. Same results for me too. Wondering if another addon is interfering, because we've never experienced such a bug developing JSRS to the best of my knowledge.

    Design mastery weapons

Agreed, as it doesn't make sense. It's only making extra workload for something not too many people will take major notice of or at least care about. At that rate, mind as well make several variants of each version with different scratches so no two people have the same scratch type. :p I mean as a graphic designer and someone who eyes the tiny details, I get what he's saying. But also at the end of the day, it's not game breaking nor anything worth troubling yourself with increasing workload and time over. Keep up the nice work! :)

    Tweaked Night Vision Script

Awesome. Well listen, I love your NVG script a lot so while I have zero knowledge of this kind of work, I read a few walkthrough posts from community members on how to turn scripts into addons. So I tried it out, and sure enough it works! If you want to look at it, change anything, etc--be my guest. The script was slightly edited to lessen the blur around the view since my eyes are rubbish and I get slightly nauseous with game-blurs, heh. So if you want, download it--and tweak away, drop in the unedited script, etc. This nvg tweak is just too good to not try getting it in as an addon, so I wanted to try and help ya out. http://www.mediafire.com/download/yrzaae2zl5m8hr1/@Tripod_NVG.rar
  15. Not sure if I am the only one, however when using this I experience the following pop-up error when either mounting or removing any optics: On the upside, once you hit OK it doesn't keep popping up, and it keeps working. I tried it with both vanilla and my usual setup, and it happens both times for me. But other than that, it's friggen awesome! Definitely a keeper in my book. :D

    Tweaked Night Vision Script

Is it possible in time to have a .pbo version released in the future so you don't have to manually add it to missions, but is ready to go from startup perhaps? Really liking this a lot from my testing. :)
  17. Yeah, it's really hard to tell at this moment what we're looking at in terms of file size. But seeing how when you figure in the weapons w/ variants, the vehicles, infantry with gear, etc. It wouldn't surprise me if it hits the 1GB level. But if it does, then I might look into breaking it down. I'd really like to keep it all one big package, but we'll have to see. Especially if we end up doing at least one terrain as well, but we need to see. Right now all such details are very vague and guestimates at best. :) Also in regards to campaigns, Zedderzulu is dying to come up with some storylines once we're ready. So I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up completing the circle of immersion with a campaign of sorts instead of just releasing units and leaving it at that.
  18. Hoping the release as one big package, but we'll see how development goes as there is a lot sitting here waiting for textures, etc. Until all of our assets are where we want them, we will not be releasing anything for use in other mods right now. We spoke to the Norweigan mod about future cooperation once we are where we want to be and our assets are far enough along to share, for instance. But right now, we will not be releasing anything of ours to other project, sorry. Yes. Hope this answers your questions. :)

    RKSL Attachments Pack

Great work! Really loving the LDS!
  20. Bingo! The original Astorian pattern wasn't the best, plus while up close it did look nice, it was a bit on the dark and contrast-less side. So it didn't take going far at all before you ended up looking like a tootsie roll on legs. So now the pattern looks better and colors have just enough color contrast where you don't turn into a walking turd a few feet away, but also works decently in terrains like Chernarus. Might need a few more tweaks to color tones, but thus far its more superior compared to the darker original.
  21. Wow, thus far the ASTDCP digital pattern seems to be taking the lead. Quite surprised, actually. I know someone in particular who is not going to take m90 losing the race too well, haha. There's probably going to be some of this happening: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lrsoijupVn1qziza8.gif :p
  22. Hey all, The Project ASTFOR team would like to hear from the community concerning what camo pattern we should trial. Keep in mind, Phase 1 release will not be keeping with ArmA 3's 2035-style theme. We are shooting more for an early to mid 2000's era. Also Multicam is off the table permanently, so please hold back any suggestions of it. We had a few requests for Swedish M90. As really nice as the pattern is, originally we were going to have such a style on the vehicles and have uniform patterns separate. That was one concern. Another larger concern was that with 2 known Swedish projects in existence, I feared going with M90 would cause us to blend in and community wouldn't like the idea. However, since I've had it suggested, I have added two versions of it on the table for voting anyways, just out of curiosity to see where the community would stand. Below is an image of what patterns are current up for voting. Feel free to look them over and cast your vote. We're eager to see how the community votes. Thanks for your input, we appreciate your help! (click for a slightly larger view)
  23. As far as naming of weapons, that's where Alpha will come in because we don't want to just call it a Galil or "Astorian Galil". We want a better name that'll sound like it makes sense. So once we're ready, we'll update the OP with the new names for the weapons, designations for vehicles and any nicknames. As far as looks go, right now the main release will see the Galil SAR, Galil SAR with Estonian-style rail system and with any luck at least one variant of the ACE-series to start with. After discovering the existence of the FFV 890c, I might try seeing about having some hints of it in the design scheme in the older Galil. Oh and of course they'll have UGL versions.
  24. Well, how else would a Astelandic person get to work? In a car? Pfft. :p lol
