What in the hell were they thinking..

Basically I would like to take the elemental controls (move forward , back , fire ,and some weapon functions) to the mouse. All the others I can live with but I despise that finger cramping , tiring WASD set up and have never used it in any game. Was always easily able to configure. And as for them "not taking"..you're right.. I was simply closing the window..dumb dumb.. a real homer on my part. Patience (which is running thin) and perseverance I guess..should be doable. Damn game just sounds too intriguing to relegate it to a shelf decoration.
  2. Just wondering how on earth you configure the controls. This should be such as simple procedure but be damned if I can figure it out...so friggin complex. I want to put all my primary controls (move , fire , talk etc.) on my mouse as I have in every other game but be damned if I can get this thing to accept the changes. Hate using the KB for mundane tasks. Want for example : Space=Prone Left MB = move forward (crawl) Middle button = mic Right MB = fire MB4 = sights etc...things like that. Then you only have to use one hand to play the majority of the game leaving the left hand free for KB infrequently used but necessary commands (or holding your beer / smoke while you play ) Is there a trick/secret or are the controls simply hard coded and not supposed to be changed? Oh and I tried searching using about 7 different words/combinations but found nothing related.

ow in gods name do you configure controls?

I've tried removing the default assignments in the editor using the DELETE command then inserting the control I want to use but doesn't seem to work. Tried deleting all the keys in the config file hoping it would come up blank but it just assigns default keys again. Jeez..this should be one of the simplest things to incorporate in a game yet it's not..
  4. Relevant system specs: Windows XP SP2 AMD Athalon 64 4G CPU at 2.41 Mhz 2 GiG RAM nVidia 7600GT 256M Video Card I searched and found that apparently this card should run the game OK but most had dual core CPU's,so I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading the card or not. Presently , with everything on low , and resolution set to something like 640 I can get about 25 FPS max. Wondering if upgrading the video card would be worth it.

    AHHA!! A FPS lag revelation...

I played around with settings , updated drivers etc. and managed to get about 25-30 FPS out of my card (7600GT 256M). Not the greatest but the game is playable enough for me to learn now anyway. The BIGGEST revelation was to discover that the sights move a few degrees before the background does which gives the illusion of lag . Every other game I've ever played has the scenery moving with your mouse movements ALL the time so this approach seemed strange. DOH!!!
