    Combat Record

...because the term "COMBAT RECORD" infers a historical record of combat actions/achievements and hence , possible "rewards" such as ranks, medals and god forbid , unlocks. As was stated , because of the very nature of the game , unlocks seem unlikely (except possibly in the campaign) but rank restrictions in MP are feasible.ie not able to use certain assets without a certain rank.
  2. It's actually a proprietary language that was originally developeed back in the day just for camera work (from what I read) but has since expanded. Bears very little , if any , resemblance to a structured language. All key words (called "functions" in BI terminology).
  3. Wondering when scripts are loaded. Is it possible to "preview" in the editor and , if a script isn't performing properly , make adjustments to the script without exiting the "preview" and re-run the event that called the script? (ie : move into the trigger area again to see if the script is working properly now).

    J.S.R.S. 1.5

Actually maturin , problem solved. I unpacked the .rar file again and re-installed the mod. Seems to be working just fine now so I guess I must have buggered something up in the first try. And it seems to run fine with Blastcore for me. But thanks for the reply..

    J.S.R.S. 1.5

1.33 not working for me. Have no vehicle , heavy gun sounds or very muted rifle shots. Running ArmA2 CO so downloaded 1.32 FULL and 1.33 patch. Installed as per instructions (as any other normal mod) Only other mods running are Blastcore and CBA. System: Win 7 64 Pro AMD Phenom II X4 965 CPU ATI 4850 Realtek Hi Def on board sound. If I use ver 1.2 sounds are fine , just 1.33 screwed up for me. Tried the sampling adjustment. No effect. Sure problem is at my end because everyone else seems to have it running just fine.Any suggestions as to where or what I can do to rectify?
  6. A couple of the simulators I play allow developers to charge a fee for their efforts (X-Plane , MS Flight Sim) for such things as aircraft and scenery packages. Some flyers have hundreds , some thousands , invested in various mods. Market place determines the viability of the enterprise. If it's poor quality no one buys it. If it's excellent , word of mouth soon spreads. Some of the mods in ArmA2 are a team effort and hundred , if not thousands , of man hours have gone into developing the mod .ACE , PR , CBA , Blast Core are just a few that come to mind. There are others. BI could issue a small mod licence for a very nominal fee , allowing the mod developer to charge a fee for his efforts. This I think would ensure continuity and quality of the mod and an excellent modder could even possibly look at a career here. The majority playing ArmA2 don't hesitate to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade hardware to enjoy ArmA2 to it's fullest , spend hundreds of dollars a year on internet service , so why not a few extra bucks to reward those whose efforts go into making the game more enjoyable? Some do take voluntary contributions and I do contribute whenever I can , but imagine hundreds don't. Food for thought.
  7. Didn't read and comprehend the post did you. :p
  8. To those who keep referring to the "restrictive" PR EULA are aware that you will be able to develop missions and content for PR aren't you? :bored:

    Project Reality - WIP Discussion

WTH is all this rambling about using other mods with PR?? All those different mods on various servers are a major contributing factor as to why ArmA2 online is a shambles. PR brings a simple solution. If you have it you can play. If you don't , you can't. No need to go searching for and/or waiting for various mods to download and install before you can even JOIN a server.

    Project Reality - WIP Discussion

Rubbish!! If your sister's friends cousin did in fact talk to UK_Force then he/she completely misunderstood. 'Tis a well known fact ArmA2:PR won't use other mods but PR is simply a mod ala ACE that adds new features/game play. If you can play vanilla ArM2/OA with ACE installed , then you can play ArmA2/OA with PR installed.
  11. Tried searching , Google and read the manual. No mention. Play Warfare in SP and am wondering if there's any way you can communicate directly with the AI commander to request support such as extra manpower to speed up the capture. I've tried the "Communications" menu item but usually nothing shows up in there. Txs
  12. SO WRONG!! Who in their right mind would have bought this thing knowing they had to spend 9+ months trying to figure out HOW to play it. The only reason I'm still struggling with it after almost 3 years is because the possibilities are fascinating. And as far as I can tell , even the BI staff aren't really too sure what some of the commands are supposed to do. BTW - get hold of mr-murrays guide. It's for ArmA but most of the info is still relevant. It geared towards scenario development but there's TONS of useful info in there about weapons , commands etc. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=112767&highlight=mr-murray
  13. Thanks Hanzu for those links. That definitely wasn't the WiKi page I found. There should be a simple sticky pointing to that site that would be EASY to find. Even Google , Yahoo and searching the BI forums didn't bring that up. It's now BOOKMARKED!:) Thanks again
  14. I've just spent two days searching BIS forums , Google and Yahoo for a Warfare tutorial before coming here to ask. Came up with a few UTube videos , a WiKi page that explained the game but not how to play it. Have an old ArmA Warfare manual that kinda helps. Back in March 2010 Sith (BI Developer) wrote: Did this ever happen?

Gamespot Reader's Choice, vote for ARMA 3

Comparing Apples to Oranges.. BF3 LOOKS amazing , but that's about all.Would make a fine console game. ArmA2 and 3 are innovative.
  16. I'm curious as to roughly how much data flows back and forth during a gaming session. I'm rural and relegated to whatever I can get unless I go back to dial up. Looking at a plan that caps at 10G then overages apply. Haven't played online for ages but thinking maybe.... But how long will 10G last?? Any guesses? Txs
  17. BeerHunter

Nobody plays anymore, atleast for MP

Or maybe it's because each server has a slew of mods , all different. That might be where Project Reality really shines for online PvP games.
  18. Using NetWorx , guess I'll just try it and monitor , see what happens. Thanks anyway

    Ragdolls = In .... Realistic wounds ???

What really bothers me about our western society is the gore fetish. Really, all you need is for the avatar to fall down (meaning you scored a hit) , not to see limbs, blood , internal organs etc. lying all over the place. If your thinking "immersion" ,how about leaving a couple of pounds of hamburger and a quart of milk in the hot sun for a few days then spread it all over your desk. Then you'll have a MUCH better idea of what a battlefield is like. Believe me , blood and bodies do NOT smell like Old Spice. Scary that so many are fixated with excessive violence. Guess it's true that the internet is a snap shot of what society would be like without any guidance or authority.

    Interface.

I wouldn't mind some kind of "stacking" command where you could command units to perform some tasks (ie #2 move there , target that unit , #3 , move there , hold fire etc.) and nothing happens until you issue a "GO" command.
  21. ArmA2 effects (explosions , bullet impacts , weapon sounds) were dismal to say the least. They resembled paint ball/air soft guns rather than high powered weapons. Can't play ArmA2 without Blastcore now but that shouldn't have been left to a modder in the first place, especially if your touting a "realistic military simulator". Give us some atmosphere...please.
  22. BeerHunter

How about realstic effects this time?

I wasn't referring so much to the exotic weapons (such as missiles , artillery etc. which were just fine) as to the grunt's weapons. ie: When we fired our FN's into the creek at the range , the spouts were about 4-6' high.Hollywood's look like BB guns. When we fired the .30Cal the markers were complaining about the dust so the bank was watered down. Firing in front of the target , the dust obliterated the target (as well as incurring the wrath of the range officer :D). That's the type of FX I'm referring to.
  23. Just wondering if/when a patch will remove the disc validation check. Nice to have beta patches but , an official removal of the process would be better. Txs

    WarFX : Blastcore

Wondering if there's a way to adjust the weapon sounds without all the other ambient sounds. ie: turn up volume so a tank firing sounds something similar to RL,or at least louder than an airsoft gun anyway and every ambient creak , groan and rattle sounds just as loud.(wind , foot steps etc.). IRL , you don't want to be in front of the muzzle when it fires. Oh and I've also noticed that quit often bullet impacts don't seem to show.
