Ditto, have same set myself, love them. Comfy to wear, mic is good quality, 7.1 sound is awesome, voice altering software is a laugh a minute :)

Make sure they are prone when firing, the MG has too much recoil to be fired from a standing or kneeling position.
They still aren't exactly what I would call the world's greatest gunners, but they are quite effective, certainly enough to wipe out enemy squads in the open.
Same goes for the SAW or Automatic Riflemen, they have a lot less recoil than a GPMG, but they still need to be fired from a prone position for anything resembling accuracy.

I tried playing a scenario with-noSplash -cpuCount=4 -mod=@CBA;@ACE;@ACEX;@ACEX_PLA;@ACEX_SM;@GL4;@zcomm on_ace;@GDT
with the Enemy A.I. enhancement on, but no freezes occurred.
If you cut and pasted that line directly from your start up , check for the space between 'zcomm' and 'on_ace' .
May just be how it ended up in your post, or you maybe typed all that manually, I don't know. But if that space exists in your shortcut start line , it may be causing dramas.
edit....doh just read the rest of the thread .
ignore that

When looking for the punch at farther distances the gunpowder needs to be upped. Example: 5.56MM x 45 grain gunpowder. Not that powerful. The US Army also has a 5.56MM x 77 grain round that is much more powerful (for sdm). Maybe someone could script that in.I prefer to use a M4 with any optic. The 249 with collapsable buttstock is nice as well. Has great control
I was always under the impression that 'grain' in that instance referred to bullet weight, ie. mass of the projectile, not charge size or weight of powder.
As for my personal weapon of choice, using A.C.E, the XM8 Sharpshooter and a few C-Mags, couple of bandages, some smoke and 2 of those S.L.A.M thingies .
Nice accurate single shots for medium>long range shots, very accurate 3 rnd burst for when one just isn't enough and insanely accurate short range full auto suppressive fire capability....thats what the C-Mags are for.
No bi-pod, but weapon can be deployed on walls or when lying prone.
When I think about it, I basically use it as I would a SAW most of the time, and switch to the single rounds when more precision is called for.
The SLAMs are just to satisfy my nasty-sneaky-bastadge side :) A bit of a stab in the dark sort of weapon if used anywhere but a road or gateway, but a good source of giggles all the same.
Playing Domination my plan is usually play as an engineer, grab an M-109 and rangefinder, find an elevated position with an escape route and good cover, shoot the tyres off the first BTR-90 I see, watch the crew bail, let my AI buddies deal with them, repair the BTR and run amok with it :)
When trying to play realistically, I generally go for the GPMG of whatever side I'm playing on. Happiness is a belt fed weapon after all.

The mental images that conjures up had me in stitches. :)
I know, I know, small things amuse small minds and all that ..

And then some schmuck will delete it just for the fun of it. AFAIK there's no way to place a local marker (aside from the waypoint).Markers only show up on the map for people who are on the same radio (text) channel as the guy placing the marker. You have to be on that channel when the marker is placed, tuning in later wont work.
For your own personal marker, try switching to vehicle channel or group channel rather than side, local or global.(the shift+click HUD marker only shows up when you are in a vehicle anyway as far as I know.)
Comma key cycles through available channels.
Any marker you can see on your main map screen will also show up on your GPS.
Left shift + arrow keys will change the type of marker, and right shift + arrow keys will change marker colour.
Hope that is helpful :)

I have fiddled around with exactly the same scenario in HC mode trying to figure it out.
The only way I could get it to work was as Nighteyes said, by putting the AI manned transport vehicle in the same group as the guys I want moved.
A rather suboptimal solution to say the least.
Is here a way to synchronize two group's waypoints in HC mode the same way you would do in the editor with F5 and drag a line?
It seems to me that that would solve the problem entirely, and I wouldn't be surprised to find it was there and working in game somewhere, I just haven't found it yet.

Hi all,When i am the pilot and my GF is the gunner , i do get a good lock but the gunner only get a lock with the mg and not an lock when she select hellfire, we tried everyting ,range ,hight other aproach and all targets had a good sight.
What are we doing wrong here ?
Clearly the problem here goes well beyond the Apache's targeting system. What stands out here is that she is only your GF, not fiance or wife.
A woman who will gun your chopper in Arma2 and be happy doing so is an exceptionally rare creature.
You have her identified, now lock her up, prepare your weapon and engage her!
:D

"Two!...move to... that....tree!!"
".......................Negative"
"Three!! Target Two!......Fire!!"
"The rest of you morons!!! any questions?!"
:D
Tears me up every time, but you just cant compromise on discipline :)

Options > Game Options> Difficulty> [select which difficulty level you want to customise]> Edit
HUD Show Group Enabled/Disabled to turn on/off the squares around your squaddies
Some things in that list will be fixed at disabled on the higher difficulty levels, but you can change almost all of it on the lower ones.
While you're in there, turn off the weapon crosshair :)

Sorry mate, I can't help with how it works in the campaign, I only played it through once before diving into the deep end and firing up the editor :)
Unless the mission designer has specifically put in place measures to prevent it, then yes, you certainly can have more than 12 units in a squad.
I have made missions for myself with 40~50 units in a single squad before, but I have found they are far easier to control in numbers like that if you split them up into <10 man squads and use a combination of the High Command module and teamswitch.
Using High Command to give 'rough' orders, then switching to each squad's leader and fine tuning what they do from there.
-
Not sure about buying empty vehicles in multiplay....different game mode/types will have different settings there.
As for controlling squaddies that have a number higher than 10....what happens is when you hit the F12 key, the bar down the bottom of your screen with all the pictures, switches from numbers 1~ 10, to numbers 11~20.
so to give orders to #12, you would hit F12 to switch to higher numbers, then F2 for number 12, F3 for number 13 and so on up to F10 for number 20.
F11 key switches down again.
Basically, F1~F10 commands the ten soldiers shown on the bar, F11 and F12 scroll that bar up and down.
Hope that makes sense :)

True that. Teamswitch is your friend. "T" key I believe.
If this is in a mission you yourself have made in the editor, you will need to set any characters you wish to switch to, to 'playable'.

this is the exact same problem I have. how the heck am i supposed to enjoy a game that literally doesn't work. I can't do anything in this mission because they all stand there. so, eventually I just shoot them all in the head for a quick 2 secs of entertainment. For entertainment that lasts a lot longer, and is somewhat more satisfying, try this.
Hold left control key and hit space bar. This switches command modes from your specific team, to overall command, or 'High command' mode.
You can now command those AI squads to go where ever you like, and to a certain degree, control how they act and what they do when they get there.
IE their formation, speed, combat mode etc.
I could go into detail about how this works, but the best way by far to learn it is to do the high command training mission..
Not saying this will fix all the problems, but if you aren't giving those AI squads orders, they wont do anything BUT stand around waiting for you to give them something to do.
