Hi Vilas. Wanted to resond to your post in this thread, It is off topic and i don't want to get into a flame war etc in someone elses thread. You do make one or two good points but the style of what you have written makes me believe that you have been itching to get your comments off your chest for some time and have been waiting for such a chance to air them in public. Unfortunately you have completly missed the concept of what larry is trying to achieve and the purpose of the headlines is for both sides in not west is great etc etc. Your comments on world politics i wll not rise to as just because western politics and actions are scrutinised closer than any one else in the world it seems all other countries go west is bad west is bad oops forgot to look at ourselves and the two faced politics we also yeild (want names? ) Look at Iran as an example, they had an idea that they needed to look better in the eyes of the world after being condemmed from all sides for there frankly terrible political actions, and they kidnap 15 people parade them around release them after two weeks after realising it's not getting them anywhere, they then have the cheek to say it's a gift when in reality they had no choice. How will the worlds media view this, well you can bet your life if a Western country did this there would be uproar, as it is people seem to go oh it's Iran they do this all the time, and if it's the BBC they basically put out a banner saying "We love Iran". I really respect the work you are doing on ArmA with your addons etc but it might be an idea to keep the grittier details of your political opinons in your campaign so we have a choice whether to laugh at them or not, as i say you completly missed the concept of what Larry was doing and just saw hate and (in your eyes) propaganda. Keep up the good work on your addons and if you want a proper political debate PM me and we can discuss the world's troubles on our own time. Best regards Bootleg -

This is all a bit odd to me guys Seriously 30 attempts   i think you is telling porkies, this is quite similar to OFP SF missions and should be treated as such ie have a good scout around and plan ahead, not just go and blow up the first things you see and expect no one to mind Don't get this either as the mission starts in the dark for me (try adjusting brightness on your monitor ) Best regards Bootleg

Umm if you mean you deleted the Library mission out of the folder, why are you posting the request here? I sympathise i really do but this post should go into the "official missions" section of the forum. Have just looked at some of the posts you are making and it seems you have a bit of a problem not reading the front page of a thread, and asking questions that have been answered one or two posts earlier. And now a new one posting in completely the wrong thread with unrelated stuff. If we all show a bit of common sense life becomes easier Best regards Bootleg

Agree with your post 100% larry, we all (well some of us) Â know the dangers and decisions that have to be made in active service in a warzone (especially in todays world). As much as i love ArmA i know that war is not fought in this way and in todays Armies around the world (again some of them!!!!) it seems as much effort goes into publicity and Rules of engagement etc than is good for the guys on the ground. This can make war an even more hellish experience than just plain fighting (something we are trained for repeatedly and luckily for us trained well) as soldiers are being thrust more and more into situations they are untrained for or individualy just plain incapable of dealing with. No game can call itself REALISTIC unless these things are factored in, apparently in ArmA you are just a cog in a larger war machine, well i must be one hell of a cog and my chest should be brimming with a few more medals as every time i go to battle i end up taking down a Brigade single handededly while everyone stands around and admires Obviously it's a tough one for BIS as if they made the game like this sales would not be too good and many younger trigger fingers would like to play something with more action. Definately one for mission makers and modders Bootleg -
As time goes on and more an more missions and campaigns are made it will be impossible for proper and innovative story telling to reach full potential if there is a lack of the 50% of the human race that exist today not being put into the game (ie women). Also i would have no problem putting kids into cutscenes and similar story tellings aspects (but i agree it is part of a wider moral issue that needs to be looked at more carefully) Bootleg

I could do this for you but i have to tell you that the Northern half of the island is needed for the vast majority of the offensive missions, so i'm not sure how you plan to actually incorporate the island with the mission structure. (Could be a bit boring patrolling the south over and over)

Hello all... First let me tell you the problem (this isn't a rant btw, just me tryin to have fun) Have recently got myself a nice new quick internet connection (4meg) and have been playing around in MP for a couple of days and had very similar experiences each time. I'll recount last nights attempt. Spawned in a coop mission with the usual objectives of Masbete, pita, enemy base etc and it became pretty obvious that 99% of hostiles were dead and all and sundry were wandering hopelessly around trying to find the last one or two. After 15 mins of trying to get everyone to restart the mission we succeded and i was quite excited as some of the guys looked like a decent bunch and wanted to work (loosely lol) together. Everyone spawned i and had my lovely SAW already so jumped on a Little Bird and waited while everyone mounted up. 5 secs later DEAD  TK'd hmm well no matter as i spawned pretty quick and jumped on the same LB, will i die, will i die. No both LB's manage to take off with full loads and head for 1st objective. Phew this is more like it, six guys skimming low over the Sahrani plains. The pilot seems accomplished and he manages to drop us off in a field just outside an enemy base, my heartbeat quickens as i race up the slope to the outside wall and throw myself to the ground as two hostiles come through the large gap in the wall surpising me, but not for long as a couple of my team mates at the bottom of the slope open up and take the first down, while my now recovered reactions put 10 rounds into the second. All this noise suddenly turns the front of the camp (right on the other side of the wall) into a hive of activity as more and more hostiles come to investigate and are cut down by my SAW or the guys at the bottom of the slope. After 2 or 3 mins i dare a peak around the wall into the camp and the scene is a grim one for the SLA to say the least as there is a very big pile of dead bodies and burning vehicles (don't know who was doing that but it was good to see), i duck back into cover and for some reason looked at my score, 11 kills woot i is on fire  However just then a shot rings out and i am dead (could have come up behind me, where was my cover   lol) While waiting to respawn i am thinking to myself "we can take that base on the next try just need to go through the back". But sadly this is where my evenings entertainment ended as it had the previous 4 nights when spawning back in base i was not allowed to leave by 2 or 3 jokers killing everyone who respawned. It got really frustrating as up till then was the best (and longest) i had ever done in an Coop game and was really fun. BUT i am gonna try again tonight, what i need from you guys out there is some servers where this does not happen as they have admins and take a dim view of this. My microphone is not working at the moment and can't get one for a few days (hope this doesn't count against me). All i want to do is play the game well and work in a team, can anyone help. Will be playing from 9pm onwards thnx in advance Bootleg

Hi matey, just wondering if it would be too late to look at this idea for 0.9d (or even 1  ) Very soon you'll have lots of questions like "yeah this is great but i want these units in and that tank in, and they all need to be wearing kilts etc etc". Having managed to pretty much figure the OFP version and be able to change weapons and men at will, i realised that it may have been a bit easier for there to have been a good little readme detailing exactly what to do to change these values (not the kilts), there was one for the original but if memory serves it was only a line or two.  Really not a biggie and just a thought for five mins spare time you may have  BTW i have altered mine to Brits with SA80's and MG's and made a little SAS base for em just down the road, (only problem is for the moment we have to keep asking the Americans for a lift  , unless of couse its in Landie range Cheers for the continued work look forward to next version

I know we are all saying it but to confirm in my eyes it is a bug which happened 3 times to me last night (in the aircav mp mission) someone mentioned this mission on previous page and same thing happened to me and three others in the SF team jumping at Benoma, 10-15 metres off ground was released from parachute and splat  Then happened twice more when jumping from Blackhawk at a very reasonable altitude. Gonna keep my ass outa the air until this is fixed

Will you be making any missions with this Mod as i wanted to do a few but couldn't think of a situation where i could use Swiss troops in it (not a slur or piss-take just the truth), i will have a good think and look at your Military history and get some ideas, hope i can because impressive work.

Good set of changes gonna download and give her a whirl, nice job getting the missiles in. That S&D location was funny, i thought it would be maybe a squad or two that far into the South, when i got there lol there was dozens of the buggers , bit of Arty does the trick though Bootleg

Actually in some ways public servers have for me gotten much better in last week or so (maybe cause i started playing v.early in the morning when the idiots have got bored and gone to bed and the only people left are the hardcore stoners straining there eyes at the screen)

Problem with Striker pathfinding in the campaign

Before i patched it to 1.5 the Stryker took at least 3 mins to make a trip of about 1km lol but was fine after patch -
Just tried 2.1, is alot tighter and very cool camel fight   A couple of things though, the anti-building missile is a harrier? don't know if this is meant or not  second with the torpedo you can see the vehicle pop up outa the water before impact. Not big things as plenty of work arounds, great work  Â

Alreet there these are my ideas of what could happen with this (having played the original in ofp i have a fair idea that it can all be done) Gonna try and make this myself but feel free to nab the ideas cause i'm so busy at work yadda yadda yadda, really is one of the best things to come out for OFP/ArmA as it is so flexible and easy to configure, and very well converted i have to say. -Make more of a distinction between mission types and locations.- To create an atmosphere of "Please give me a nice patrol in the South, i don't wanna go to the North Momma" which as suggested means bringing back the patrol mission type all over the South, but only either spawning a few enemy specops or very rarely a large attack to keep you on your toes. -Spawning a few enemy toops as well as civilians in medium to large enemy cities.- So if your cut off ie your extraction chopper is shot down or whatever then players will have to avoid built up areas, unless they are desperate for a car! -"Attempt" to progress the war with front lines moving forward- Thinking about turning it into more of a campaign style format, meaning depending on how well or badly you are doing after the first say..5-10 dynamic missions, it will load up the next set of missions (in a seperate pbo), allowing three things - first - you can be more specific with your dynamic mission placement to the period of the war ie if South Sahrani is secure then there wouldn't be a search and destroy mission in Samato or downed blackhawks way into friendly territory. You can then place your missions where you think frontlines, supply bases, defensive points, officers, patrols would be. - second - you can move the frontlines of where people and vehicles patrol so it seems like they are moving into captured territory and patroling, also moving the players base forward and changing where you are supplied from etc as would happen (c'mon who wants to be stuck in a stuffy airport all year lol) - third - it would then be possible to insert single missions before or after any dynamic period, meaning more cutscenes, information on situation etc. -More and varied support options depending on rating- Cobra, harrier lgb or close air support, spec ops, armour, varied arty (smoke, flares, different calibres and types), for real high ranks or certain mission types incorporate the Mando Missiles for real flexibility on hitting targets with Mavericks, retarded missiles, even anti air missiles (and probably any you can think of, he's done a great job). -Assign specific friendly teams to smaller areas of patrol- This is so you have a chance to get used to where friendly units patrol should you ever need to hide behind them if you are in trouble. Also in each patrol area they have a small base or camp of some kind (also add different unit icons to a flag in the bases so you even get used to where different units move to when the campaign evovles). Got loads more ideas but really need the toilet so definately not now, what do you think people any good, throw myself of a cliff, take a lie down. Bootleg

Yes the scripting is fantastic, my fav has to be the anti missile, missiles very cool patriot stylee. There are one or two snags (Anti building missile is a harrier   and the torpedo is a bmp that shows its head right before impact) but apart from that utterly bril   -
No the BAS insertion ropes were specific to their choppers so it didn't need a mod just the chopper addon pbo's Bootleg ps: they were real cool

Lool - i like the MP bug where a burnt out chopper pops into thin air next to you and 5 seconds later it turns into your extraction chopper
