    Best feeling yet (well nearly) was burying over 50 bodies at the airport in Evolution after some nutters were on before me, was really freaky when i joined all quiet and US bodies everywhere, got that base back up looking fresh and tidy after fixing some vehicles and bringing them back  Got called Padre for that one Lets all say a prayer  Â

    Tips for firing the M136 AT-4 in ArmA

    Played evolution last night and got a 765 metres hit on a BMP on flat ground (desert in between the towns due west of the airport) was very very chuffed, managed to take all three out as it seemed out of their range to return fire. - Frederf you forgot to mention not to attempt a second shot from the same cover and place, always move to different side of the wall or cover as this is where everyone will be looking. - Also stalking armour is made harder by the fact that an AI gunner will follow your movements with his gun even if he canot see you, this mostly happens when you are separated by a ridge and your crawling about, does't seem to happen as much if your behind a building. Apart from that good post, learn it and share it is the only way to go  Best regards Bootleg

    PLEASE stop going on about bitching, everyone has a perfectly normal forum argument about things related to the game and then bet yer bottom dollar someone does not agree and starts the whole bitching thing, if you don't want to discuss this particular topic DON'T, stay out of its thread, what the point of having threads if we all have the same arguments and opinions on the game, would it not turn into the "lets all praise BI Forums", and we really don't want that and neither would they.

    The high jump argument

    Saw someone mention jumping in a previous topic and was wandering if there would be any support for a system similar to COD 2 whereby standing next to objects of a certain height the option to climb over it is given (ideas for how this would be implemented welcome ie on screen icon or an extra button) Obviously this negates the jumping in open play as can only happen in a climbing sense. The reason i mention it is i was playing Evolution the other night and was doing a couple of side missions (so i could get my harrier  ) and had a mission to destroy armour (couple of BMPs and a BRDM). The armour was located behind a house with a fence (3-4 foot high at the most) and the obvious thing for me to do was get behind that house and use it for cover as i popped off AT rounds, even ducking inside if things got hairy. Perfect in theory yet the gated entrance to this property was located on the side of the building most exposed to the enemys line of site and getting through it undetected was not an option. As i stood there for about 5 mins i started to get frustrated that this fence (that quite honestly my 92 year old grandma could climb over with ease) was stopping an average grunt with thousands of dollars worth of kit effectively dealing with his enemy in a way that would take 2 seconds thought and action in real life to achieve (whether i took the armour down effectively from the cover of the house was still up to me). In the end i died pathetically as i had kinda lost interest and tried to fire over the fence and even though the AT launcher from 3rd person had a line of sight to the 1st BMP it still hit the fence  and i was turned to swiss cheese by the BMP in an instant. It seems that a system like this will be immensely suited to ArmA as there will be no hope for any decent urban fighting to look and feel good if walls and objects have to be skirted around exposing people in the street. (What was the first lesson Allied soldiers learned in WW2, STAY OUT OF THE STREET) Whether this can be introduced i know not but i would be interested to find peoples opinions on whether a system like this would suit them or be appealing. I'm sure BIS must have thought of this and would also like to hear from any Devs why it could not be done and if there is any plans.(not that i'm holding out any hope they only seem to come out when there is no chance of looking silly) I am also sure that an institution like the US military would ask for this straight away with VBS2 because VBS2 would be pretty much useless to recruits training for modern urban scenarios if they can't even follow a terrorist over walls and through gardens, (mind you the terrorist wouldn't be able to do it either, he'd just run straight down the street ) Opinions of all readers welcome, Best regards Bootleg

    It's not that difficult.  You just add a walkmap to the top of whatever you want to walk on (I think).  The reason why he couldn't walk on it, if it was indeed only 1.5 feet tall, was probably because it didn't have a walkmap on it.  The original poster should get the coordinates and a screenshot of that wall and post it on the bug list. Sorry i put the original post on but i don't know what you mean?, i haven't said anything about a certain wall just the climing, scaling argument in general. I relayed a story about a wall that i should have been able to scale in this way,(well just flop even) as it would have enabled me to complete my objective in a more realistic and fun way. (well just to complete it at all really). Sorry if i am not getting you properly but just have a quick scan over the original post again and you'll see what i mean  Best regards Bootleg

    The biggest and most usefull difference from OFP for me is being able to lie down quikly if you have AT launcher, you don't have to swap to your rifle first which always made me laugh Mind you this is offset by the fact that using binos when you have AT, it swaps you back to rifle when you put them away.

    Could this not be done on the same lines as ladder climbing?, whereas it recognises your next to a ladder and gives you the option to climb, would it be possible to have it so your recognised as being next to certain types of the walls (i've seen them ALL in editor and there ain't that many) and if you want to climb over it plays the animation according to height, so a low, medium and high climb, similar to the "climb in" low, medium and high animations we have now, the difference in the heights of the walls is pretty much into these catagories already. And your right if you do it by recognising the certain wall you could make it so barbed wire fences cannot be climbed. All just conjecture and ideas with no clue whether it's possible but i feel it's something we really need in this particular game. (Well essential really)

    Anyone else having a problem with the times and positions of their posts? , since the forums have come back on my posts are being put in odd positions in the thread, for instance in the " server was down" thread my post ended up above the original posters topic starter post.

    ArmA Disappointing

    The thing thats dissapointing me most is MP bug of the burnt out chopper you have to shoot once to magically transform it to a proper one, many times your emergency pickup arrives and the pilots going "get in get in" and your standing there thinking what?, then you notice a ghostly shell next to you, you have to laugh though if your gonna have a bug you might as well go all out , the other dissapointment is the lack of even basic climbing or scaling ability, (which i started a different thread on), apparently the MOD is gonna buy VBS2 but i don't know if they realise you can't do this, there gonna shit a brick when realisation dawns Apart from that i wouldn't want to play any other game at the moment (apart from Pippa Funnels horse trials )as for me ArmA has potentially has it all, plus i love reading these forums and looking at the really clever addons and scripts people make.

    Yes in the controls i believe you can change it to whatever you want ie home for up- end for down etc oh and something to confirm selection, just have a fiddle i'm sure you will be up n runnin in no time Edit- Thanks nephilim beat me to it Best regards Bootleg

    Not sure if there is a key for it i will have to look but you can use your action menu (mouse wheel) if you know this i'm sorry.

    Tip: Zoom without holding your breath.

    I assume Lock (well how i use it) is for things like choppers or TOW missiles and the stinger etc for well locking onto stuff

    Yes you did and i apologise for not noticing the name of the poster ie you , was a good game wasn't it, ended up losing connection with host thats why no goodbye , hope to see you around soon and hopefully i can improve my Laser Desig bombing , Did you manage to finish the mission?

    ACtually, the right to bear arms was written into the Constitution should the need ever arise to overthrow the government and install a new one. Â Remind me to move even further away if that happens LOL
