What's the first thing you are going to do when you get ArmA 2?
Big-Rooney replied to L!nk07's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Step 1: Open the packaging. Step 2: Place in CD tray then close and click install. Step 3: Take out the manual give it a read through. Step 4: When installation is complete, Run Game. Step 5: Training Missions to see if controls and play style have been changed. Step 6: Stick the settings on High and have a fun time with the editor. Step 7: Get down to some serious action in Single Player. Step 8: Continue Single Player Action and go Online. Step 9: Repeat Step 6 & 8. -
I think you guys are not seeing the bigger picture here, in OFP and ArmA1 units had to have the animations placed in their config entry so they could say hold a PKM correctly, But this effect was only local to the unit that had the animation entry in its config. If that said soldier picked up an AK-47 he would still hold it like a PKM, If another soldier picked up the PKM he would hold it with the default animation which was basically assault rifle holding. With the new system every soldier will be able to hold a weapon correctly, if it has a foregrip he'll hold the foregrip instead of the barrel, if it has a GL he'll hold the GL Barrel (instead of hand through barrel), if he picks up an RPG-7 he'll hold the RPG-7 correctly and the Javelin will be held correctly also. The weapons will be responsible for the animations instead of the soldiers, finally a realistic way of holding the guns that all soldiers can do without scripts or config editing. P.S. Sorry if I repeated what SidHellFire said.

I like to see Expansions/DLC that gives you new areas to battle in. 1st Expansion/DLC Release: North Western Province of Chernarus. 10-25 New vehicles/infantry + variants. New Campaign revolving around new province (Player as Russian Side). 2nd Expansion/DLC Release: Captial Province of Chernarus. A Couple Of New Vehicle/Infantry + Variants. New Campaign With Player As CDF. Maybe Some New Factions, UN, NATO, Russians (VDV). That one above is most likely not going to happen but with did have two updates for OFP - Red Hammer and Resistance, so it is possible, depends on how successful ArmA2 is really.
-
A T-34 very cool, prehistoric tank compared to modern tanks. Maybe there will be updates like Queens Gambit for ArmA1 that add new tanks and vehicles for all the Factions in the game. Maybe: T-72 Variants T-80 Variants BMP-1P BMD's LAV-25 Variants HMMWV Variants + Many More, But Realistically I believe that most if none of them will come but that they will be developed by the Community and we will all enjoy some nice addons by the community, Also ArmA1 addons can be ported over apparently so all the good addons/mods can be ported and played on ArmA2. Ah the EFV, how I hold onto the smallest hope to see that included
-
Regardless of how its actually done, I just hope the AI manning the side mounted guns is better coded to actually be some use with the damn things.
-
Thanks Jakerod, shouldn't have doubted you man. The BTR HQ hasn't been confirmed yet in any clear form just suspected from the Russian Faction Video.
-
Where did you see that there are civilian aircraft Rotor or Fixed?
-
What military equipment and vehicles do you want?
Big-Rooney replied to WARFIGHTER989's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I just like the forces to me using what they really use. USMC: CH-53 (Whatever model is most recent) More HMMWV variants. USMC MLRS. F-18 Super Hornet. Mk. 16/Mk. 17 (aka FN-SCAR-L/FN-SCAR-H). Russia: T-80's. T-72's (recent mods). BMP-1P. Ural-4230. BM-30 Smerch. Su-39. MIG-31. MIG-29. Mi-26. AK-74M. List can go on if I could remember it all. Russian Transport Aircraft. -
To Be Determined, You see some WIP previews of the Devs mentioning that the game will be on Xbox360 with some major differences compared to the PC (Editor is big one), unfortunately for me no PS3 (Wanted to have both PC & PS3).
-
Yeah Here you go Confirmed & Suspected Unofficial Vehicle List. You can find the official vehicles and some unofficial suspects by the community and all most of the vehicles that have been seen in preview videos and pictures.
-
I thought that was a BTR (HQ) of some sort, what time in the Russian Faction Video did you see the BMP-3 (HQ). Does this mean that the forces will have independent identity and face systems. Thanks Mafia101, Suspected it all along. Also the there are two Ka-52's, But I think that was pointed out long ago, just reiterating.
-
Alright, I'll drop it here, I also get my info from manuals but you have close family in the forces, I only have some 2nd cousins that I barely ever talk to. It looks like the control trailer for a UAV or something - but could be something to do with Warfare. It can be seen in the editor in this Picture Also in that picture you can see that the Sides now also have Factions.
-
Right Answers. 1: I was answering the grenade statement thats all, notice the part where I also ask if Claymores and other explosives will be added, Don't jump on my back for pointing out what I've seen in the previews. 2: It says LAV-25 (HQ) thats it, There is no picture just the name. 3: Apologizes for the accurate statement, Thats the way the radio communications look and in the picture of all the previews I've seen, If I was looking for absolute realism like you seem to be, I be on the same side as people like Wipman, I'd want to have that HMMWV removed, I'd want the A-10 removed, I'd want the F-35B removed, I'd want the Entire Game CHANGED so thats its not an unrealistic war being fought with some unrealistic forces fighting it, I wouldn't be buying the game if I wanted as realistic as that now would I, I'd be waiting to see what crap Codemasters can come up with, Now back on track, Where are you getting your military info from?
-
Well as stated the USMC have a HQ vehicle. It's an LAV-25 (HQ). Also I've seen a picture that appears to show the player marking a target for a missile strike, maybe we will have cruise missiles - Picture. Where did you see that they are adding Claymores and IED's. Here you go Grenades In Gear And here is the UH-1Y HUD Off in game picture - Here Also I've updated the Confirmed & Suspected Vehicles List with all the new vehicles revealed in the previews Here Off Topic: Ghille Snipers - Here The radio communications seem to be improved with a different radio message style. Instead of man at 50 meters it seems to be Man dangerously close to us. Instead of Enemy Man at 12 o'clock it seems to be now Enemy Man Front Of Us. There are also lots of other new radio communication messages, It even seems that the AI will report groups of enemies instead of just reporting individual units one at a time.

Well it says its a C-130J "Quote: The C-130J “Super Hercules“ is an American tactical airlifter." Knighthawk issue: Heres the official statement on the ArmA II Site. "Quote: The Knighthawk is the US Army’s front-line utility helicopter used for transport roles, medical evacuation and even air support." The Navy helicopter that is used by the USMC and that's the US Army's Front-line utility helicopter as-well. Talk about multi-role helicopters. BI you wanna fix that. Just to speculate Wipman, What are the other inaccurate models that you speak of. Yeah, If the DOD has indeed pushing the production date of the of the EFV up, then it should be placed in the game. The F-35B has not entered production and yet we have them in the ArmA II vehicles. Looks like a ammo or similar carrier for the LHD crew.
-
Go a small update on the LHD for ya. It seems that there is a transport vehicle for carrier use Here Yes, I really liked this vehicle, seems to fit the area and style. The entire faction is not the USMC. There is some US Air Force in there too, look at the C-130J and the A-10 Thunderbolt. Unfortunately I've forgotten the link of the video that shows some footage of the LHD.
-
Yeah thats the one.
-
Well the latest video of a preview of ArmA II has been released, after looking at the video a couple of times, I have to say I'm a little bit impressed. Although some things still look the same as ArmA1. Well to keep with this topics purpose. A new vehicles was seen in the video. The HMMWV (M2 .50 Cal). Unfortunately that's all the stuff I could see. Some good gameplay footage though.
-
Well I just got through looking at a video from YouTube of ArmA II preview by the German Gamestar magazine. In it showed a fully developed LHD with Crew, the video was still an alpha version WIP video but I think an LHD with crew can be counted in.
-
Well you make some good points there, I guess we'll have to wait until release unless BIS release what transport aircraft will actually be able to do in game.
-
Thanks NodUnit, after looking at that and the BIS official picture I reckon its a variant version. Confirmed & Suspected ArmA II Vehicles List - Here

@Jakerod, Badlymad & MBot: Thanks for the your info, I've added the Vehicles you listed to the list with your names beside them for everyone's knowledge. The Full list can be viewed Here. I've also added some vehicles that I found while looking through some pics and info on various sites. Yeah I think you are mate, The game is advanced but I don't think it will be that advanced. Thats a really nice vehicle, Mobile Rocket Artillery War between CDF and ChDKZ, Nice spot MBot The Vulcan is a US Army vehicle that hasn't been in service for some years now, Why it was in ArmA 1 nobody but BIS knows (IMO it was there because BIS where afraid to go into advanced AA rockets systems in case it ruined the Air aspect of ArmA 1). @Wipman: Wipman, The Official Site describes the HMMWV as an up-armored version of the M1114 HMMWV, as has been pointed out by many people, the up-armored version is rarely seen with the side exhaust. The picture your showing of the Spanish Marine HMMWV is a standard M1026 not an up-armored M1114. Also can anyone tell me what the last vehicle in this picture is? The one behind the BTR-90 and Kamaz Picture Remember you can view the whole list of vehicles Here

While the Forums where down, BIS released the last two sections of the Vehicles Section Civilian Vehicles: Civilians prefer to use the sturdy and easy to maintain Eastern European make car that they're familiar with, whether it's their personal family car, or the wood-hauling truck they use for work. Sadly due to the horrible conditions of the local roads most cars native to Chernarus are in poor condition. Urban Cars: Want to haul some wood to your cottage, drive your spouse to a shop in Chernogorsk or sneak through checkpoints with several bottles of vodka stashed in a cardboard box? Either use a car of your choice or take a bus. If you see the white-yellow car behind you, put the pedal to the metal! Urban Car Picture VW Golf Picture Bus Picture Police Car Picture Cargo Transport: No matter what needs to be transported, the trucks can do it all: gravel, lemonade, guerillas or weapons. Ural Transport Picture V3S Picture Datsun Picture Hilux Picture Other: If you need to travel light, use a mountain bike! Tired of pedaling or in urgent need to escape the bad guys? Ride the motorbike! Mountain Bike Picture Motor Bike Picture ArmA II: Civilian Vehicles Ships And Boats: ArmA 2 offers a few small military boats, along with Chernarussian fishing boats. Fishing Boat: Simple boat used to catch fish in the sea. According to the international Food and Agriculture Organization there are about 4 million of commercial fishing boats worldwide. This is one of them. Fishing Boat Picture PBX: The PBX is a Combat Rubber Craft very similar to the CRRC in design. It is intended to be used for maritime raids and infiltration, as well as riverine operations. PBX Picture RHIB: The Naval Special Warfare Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) is a fast, high-buoyancy all weather boat designed to transport a fully equipped team of eight men and three crew members. It is also fully transportable by C-130 Hercules. This one is equipped with an Mk 19, 40 mm grenade launcher. RHIB Picture Private Small Boat: Many Chernarussians own small private boats, which are mostly used for fishing and recreation. Treacherous currents and hidden rocks make these vessels perfect for navigation along the Chernarussian coastline. Private Small Boat Picture ArmA II: Ships And Boats

Fixed Wing Aircraft: No military simulator is complete without a hangar full of planes for the gamer to fly around in! Most fixed-wing aircraft in the game are state-of-the art jet fighters or attack planes, armed with cannons, laser-guided bombs, iron bombs, unguided rockets and guided missiles. Some planes are capable of Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL). A-10: The A-10 Thunderbolt is a single-seat twin-engine straight-wing jet aircraft used by US Armed Forces. The aircraft is designed to provide close air support for ground forces by attacking tanks and armored vehicles. It is armed with a dual Hydra rocket system, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, four AGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground tactical missile launchers, three Mark 82 low-drag general-purpose bombs and with a 30 mm gatling cannon. A-10 Picture AV-8B (Fighter): The AV-8B Harrier is a single-seat attack aircraft that provides powerful air support for the Marines. The AV-8B can perform Short/Vertical Take-Off or Landing (S/VTOL) making it ideal for improvised airfields and carrier launches. It is armed with a dual Hydra rocket system, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, six Mark 82 low-drag general-purpose bombs and with a 25 mm cannon. AV-8B Picture C-130J: The C-130J “Super Hercules“ is an American tactical airlifter. This four-engine turbo-prop military transport aircraft is capable of transporting up to 92 passengers or up to 33 tons of cargo. The C-130J with a range of more that 5.000 km and maximum speed of 671 kph is considered to be most important transport aircraft worldwide. C-130J Picture F-35B: The F-35 Lightning is a single-seat single-engine stealth-capable military multirole strike fighter. It is capable of providing close air support, tactical bombing or air combat missions. The F-35B is the Short-TakeOff and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant of F-35 prototype. It is armed with two guided bomb units, dual AIM-9 air-to-air guided missile platforms, and with a 25 mm cannon. F-35B Picture MQ-9: The MQ-9 Reaper is a combat ready unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It is the first purpose-designed hunter-killer UAV designed for long endurance high altitude surveillance. The MQ-9 is capable of carrying 14 AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-ground missiles as well as two GBU-12 Paveway laser-guided bombs. MQ-9 Picture MV-22: The V-22 Osprey is a multi-mission tilt-rotor military transport aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) abilities. It is designed to operate in a similar capacity to conventional helicopters but with the long range and high speed performance of a turboprop cruiser. The V-22 is able to reach speeds of 509 kph and can transport up to 32 passengers or up to 7 tons of cargo. MV-22 Picture Pchela-1T: The Pchela-1T is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed in Russia. Its primary uses are surveillance and observation or target designation. Pchela-1T Picture Su-34 (Fighter): The Su-34 (NATO reporting name: Fullback) is a Russian-made two-seat fighter-bomber and strike aircraft. As with many modern bombers the pilots sit side by side. The Su-34 is equiped with GSh-30-1 30 mm cannon, six Kh-29 air-to-surface missile systems, four AA-11air-to-air missile platforms, and two S8 air-to-surface missile platforms. Su-34 (Fighter) Picture Su-25: The Su-25 (NATO designation: Frogfoot) is a single-seat twin-engine jet aircraft developed in Russia. It is able to withstand heavy enemy fire thanks to very robust armored construction and finds its key strengths in the areas of low-level maneuverability and accurate weapons delivery.
