Licensed from BIS for their own development project. It's a mutual agreement you can find proved over on the PR:ArmA2 forum topic. Here's the post outlining the agreement Bed Time, by the time i check my computer tomorrow evening, all this arguing and speculation will be ended or confirmed.

whatever it is i'll be happy with it as i'm having fun with ArmA:II CO and i'm saving up for a new rig for a possible ArmA:3 in the years to come, so I probably won't get the Announcement live but it'll be good to see it all over the forums. :D

wow what if we got the date thing all wrong and ANN.com was just having a laugh at our expense, i'd have to say it would be an LOL moment followed by confusion, some serious anger and lots of alcohol, Kids don't try this at home :D No no scratch that, I have a little faith for an announcement of some sorts

well the first set of clues implied possible changes to the engine, but as the "hack" progressed forward it became more focused on content and locale, it wouldn't surprise me if the engine upgrade was announced but not for this content that may be revealed. New Island/Campaign for ArmA:II OA and a whole new game announced but to be fully revealed on the 6/6/2012 :p

yeah well is this the confirmation of an annoucement in relation to the Engine Upgrade/New Island/DLC/ArmA3/Expansion Pack. I'm in work unfortunately so i can't follow the topic properly till i get home, ugh. Anyway in my mind it seems to be a confirmation of sorts of an annoucement, maybe this girl is something to do with the hack, the daughter of a rebel leader. +1 BI, screw you Valve and Activision :D

not if BIS seriously wanna play this out.. they could try and mostly fail to drag this till 2012 but i do believe that information will find its way out long before this date. This seems to just be a good date to release DLC not announce it

does the first set of numbers when combined not equal too 12 1+1+1+3+0+1+5=12 that would mean it it would be 12/6/6 not 14/6/6. 2012 sounds like a plausible release date for an expansion Edit: Just before me CJ

I'm starting to go on the Side of the Vex man here, it looks like it may be in-game but seriously edited in PS... do those choppers look like there kicking up dust underneath them. Look under them Why would one go to added detail to add such an effect to an altered real life photo, if it is dust and not my eyes messing with me at 02:45 in the morning.

+1 Not to mention that would require every player who wishes to use the Island would require Combined Ops and other DLC didn't require that. Also the map shows an Arrow going through the Aegean from Turkey, Easy to say that a New Persia could go through Iraq, Syria, Turkey and into the Aegean to provide a strategic staging position for any Invasion of Southern Europe or Naval advances through the Mediterranean into Northern Africa too.

Why did you implement telephone poles into a sentence in which i was talking about the Helicopter in relation to other Airframes not objects. And second no i wouldn't but i have on occasion, but i'll remain on topic.
16. you'll get a patch with Arrowhead that will update your ArmA2 to the latest version which is 1.07 i think.

Arma 2 OA 1.53 Suggestions

sorry one more thing, How about a Campaign that is worthy of Cold War Crisis from OFP, I know Arrowhead is a multirole campaign but i still didn't enjoy it as much as i did Cold War Crisis, still seems like Red Harvest, you as the player have to do everything like Red Harvest, slow AI sub-ordinates didn't help either.
18. so the grunts are running around with a canceled Rifle, nearly every shooter out there has a rifle in it that didn't make it into service with one army or another, COD every Ranger used the SCAR and in Bad Company 2 there using the XM8 Prototype. The Delta Force guys in Arrowhead use the Mk. 17 and thats not been canceled so whippy

Arma 2 OA 1.53 Suggestions

Heard something about that being added in the future. not confirmed though. They speak english when you interact with them but when i team switched the orders where being giving out in Czech, haven't played with the Germans or CDF yet. I think the UK are getting some small amounts of units, seen some screens of them and there is a mention of a British Deployment to Takistan in the games end credits, Also heard of a PMC faction coming into it as well. I think that would require redoing all the models to utilize all the Thermal features and the weapon models for lasers and flashlights. Has anyone tried this with the Artillery Module? I got through the Campaign with alot less bug related stress then Red Harvest but there where moments that it was annoying.
20. I seriously doubt that there will be any major updates to the editor, if you look down to it the editor has really remained the same over OFP/ArmA1/ArmA2. Now i didn't actually bother getting Dragon Rising so I know nothing about it, But Flash Thunder makes some good points there, Life would be alot easier for the less experienced players if you didn't have to go through alot of init coding to get the weapon you wanted. And if you could change all the things you need to do at the moment outside ArmA2 within the actually mission building environment
21. I think what was meant was that can the AI actually use both weapons, the Seahawk is a good example, AI only seem able or willing to use one of the guns to engage a single target instead of using both Miniguns to engage multiple targets. Flares and Smoke screens look like a good investment of time, will the flares actually work to a realistic standard or will they just be eye candy. AH-6X looks good too, again, but will it be like the UAV in ArmA2, actually have human/AI characters inside it, Proper remote control would be great not like the way it was in ArmA1 with a pre-determined flight path around the terminal with no ability to fire Hellfires onto specific targets. The HUD looks good too, a vast improvement over the ArmA2 default one, also will that radar system from ArmA2 remain or will a newer one be introduced?.
22. Well I haven't been on the forums in awhile but that was a pretty good teaser video, similar to the way BIS built up the factions in ArmA2. To throw my answers out there to a couple of questions posted here. 1: In my opinion all those who believe playing as the Americans is boring have a good point, look at the selection of games that are out there that have the US as the main force - ArmA1, ArmA2, COD, Battlefield. But they are the largest Western Military Force and are the only force that can move massive amounts of troops around the world in response to any situation - Afghanistan, Iraq, Haiti. 2: It is nice to see some European forces there even if its just the infantry, Czech boys have Landrovers and an Mi-17 confirmed, Germans just infantry atm. 3: The FLIR looks good in my mind, the FLIR view is actually from the AH-6X that's providing an AH-64D with targeting opportunities, and the men and visible engine parts glow white with the heat, so does the tank when it's hit. 4: Music for that vid was great, really liked the atmosphere it added. Lot of good stuff been added in this expansion, maybe the videos to come will reveal more about the engine improvements. P.s. The opposing force must pose a real threat to the region, The full might of the Allied forces coming down on them, M1A2's, Strykers, Up-armoured Humvee's, Blackhawks, Chinook's, AH-64D's, AH-6's, MH-6's, A-10's, C-130's, The Czech's, The German's. Edit. And Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all
23. Hi All. This is just a little topic to discuss the weapons employed in ArmA II. Have your say about what you like or dislike about the weapons used within the game. There may be some topics like this already, but I've just listed all the weapons, I will update with any hidden weapons that are revealed. I'll list them all for you. Handguns: Pistols serve mainly as defensive weapons, but silenced variants may provide a tactical advantage in attack. M1911A1: The 1911 (or M1911A1) is a single-action self-loading pistol. It was the standard side arm weapon used by the US army from 1911 to 1985; and it was widely used by US troops in WW I, WW II and both Korean and Vietnam wars. The 1911 is designed to use .45 ACP rounds. Even today many SWAT teams - as well as many other armies - favour this weapon thanks to the great stopping power of .45 rounds. M9 & M9SD: Based on the 92FS and adopted by US Military as the M9 pistol, this is the standard US Army handgun. In 1985 the M9 replaced the older .45 Colt 1911 which had been in service since World War I. This gun features a 15 round magazine and standard NATO 9mm ammunition. Some soldiers however, still prefer the .45 Colt due to its greater stopping power. Makarov & Makarov Silenced: In use for nearly forty years the venerable PM Makarov served the Soviet Red Army and now serves the Russian Federation Armed Forces. Renowned for its simple and extremely reliable design, the Makarov can be found in abundance across the globe. Although the small, 8-round capacity is low by present-day standards, it gives the pistol a narrow profile. Equipped with a suppressor the silenced Makarov PM is an ideal weapon for special forces and assassins. ArmA II: Handgun Weaponry Site Assault Rifles: Assault rifles are the most versatile personal weapons, combine stopping power with high fire rate and a variety of mounted equipment, e.g. grenade launchers, silencers or optical sights. AK-107: The AK-107 is a Russian 5.45 mm assault rife developed from the AK-100 series. The AK-107 features a unique "balance" operating system. This system uses a recoil-dampening countermeasure mechanism that eliminates recoil, thus highly increasing accuracy and assisting control while using automatic fire. -> Variants: AK-107, AK-107 GP-25, AK107 GP-25 PSO, AK-107 PSO. AK-74: The AK-74 is the successor to the infamous AK-47, resizing its caliber to 5.45mm, probably in response to the ubiquity of the 5.56mm NATO round. The most visible modification is the muzzle brake. This muzzle brake drastically cuts the already mild recoil of the AK-74 but increases noise and muzzle flash. -> Variants: AK-74, AK-74 + GP-25, AKS-74 Kobra, AKS-74U, AKS-74UN Kobra. AKM & AKS: The AKM is an upgraded version of the infamous AK-47 rifle developed in the 1950s. AKM is the most wide-spread variant of entire AK series. Compared to the AK-47, the AKM is more highly optimized for mass production. As the result the weight is reduced by 1kg, accuracy is significantly higher and the reliability is greatly increased. The AKS is slightly modified version of the AK-47 rifle. It features a downward-folding metal stock to adapt this weapon for use in vehicles and for paratroops. M16A2 & M16A4: The M16 assault rifle entered service in 1965 at the onset of the Vietnam War. It answered the Army's need to replace the ill-suited M14 with a lightweight rifle capable of effective automatic fire. The M16 uses a small, high velocity round with low recoil and good armor penetration, effective to about 500m. -> Variants: M16A2, M16A2 + M203, M16A4, M16A4 RCO, M16A4 M203, M16A4 M203 RCO. M4A1: The M4A1 Carbine is a shortened version of M16. It sports a shortened barrel and collapsible stock, making it the Special Operations weapon of choice. In contrast to the M16A2, with its 3-round burst mode, the M4A1 is capable of fully automatic fire. Thanks to the SOPMOD program the M4A1 can be modified with a variety of special accessories including optics such as the M68 Aimpoint and ACOG, an easily detachable suppressor, the M203 under barrel grenade launcher, and many others. -> Variants: M4A1, M4A1 QDS, M4A1 QDS CAMO, M4A1 M203 RCO, M4A1 CCO, M4A1 M203 Holo SD, M4A1 M203 Holo, M4A1 M203 SOPMOD SD CAMO. G-36: The G36 is 5.56mm assault rifle, manufactured by Heckler & Koch GmbH in Germany. This weapon is used in German Armed Forces from the year 1997; and these dayes, many armies used this weapon. The rifle features dual sights: a 3.5X scope sight beneath, and a 1X red-dot sight above. -> Variants: G36, G36C, G36C-SD, G36K. XM8: The XM8 was the US Army project name for new lightweight assault rifle system. US Army hoped to create new standard and highly modifiable infantry rifle but in 2005, the project was formally cancelled. ~7500 prototypes of this weapon still exist, now held by the US Army. The weapon was designed to use 5.56x45mm NATO cartridges and is able to fire up to 750 rounds per minute. -> Variants: XM8, XM8 M320, XM8 Compact, XM8 Marksman, XM8 SAW. ArmA II: Assault Rifles Weaponry Site Machineguns: Machineguns are effective against enemy troops and light vehicles; they are perfect for suppressing the enemy due to their fire rate and ammo capacity. Machineguns are heavy and prevent soldiers from carrying man-portable launchers. M240: The M240 is a belt-fed, gas-operated machine gun. This weapon is used extensively by US armed forces infantry, mounted on ground vehicles, boats and aircraft. It is highly prized for its reliability, good rate of fire, impact and durability. The M240 uses 7.62x51 mm ammunition. M249 SAW: The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon is a fully-automatic, gas-operated, magazine or belt-fed individual weapon. It is the standard US Army light machine gun based on the Belgian FN Minimi, featuring a 200 round plastic magazine box. The bipod can be collapsed and the weapon can be fired from the hands. The M249 SAW provides the squad with the accurate and sustained fire required to suppress and destroy enemy targets. Mk 48 Mod 0: The Mk 48 Mod 0 is in fact a modified M240 machine gun, developed for USSOCOM special operation units. In comparison to the M249 this weapon features an improved rail mounting system and integral folding bipod. The Mk 48 is significantly lighter than the M240 while offering better firepower than the M249 SAW. The Mk 48 uses 7.62x51 mm ammunition. PKM: The PKM is the modernized version of the venerable PK medium machine gun. The PKM is just small enough to be man portable and an ammo box attached under the receiver means the gunner always has a full 100-round belt ready to fire. Though it is a heavy weapon to carry the firepower it projects on the battlefield makes it worth the trouble. The PKM can provide sustainable suppressive fire, even at very long ranges. RPK-74: The RPK-74 is a light machine gun, first presented in 1974. It is a modernized variant of the AK-74 rifle and the modifications implemented mirror those made to the AKM. The RPK-74 uses 5.45x39 mm cartridges. ArmA II: Machineguns Weaponry Site Sniper Rifles: Sniper rifles enable snipers to attack targets at long range; some of them use high caliber ammunition and are capable of destroying vehicles or light targets. These rifles are commonly fitted with powerful optical sights. CZ 550 Scoped: CZ 550 is an improved Mauser 98-type hunting rifle. It features solid head lugs, fixed ejector, claw extractor, single-set trigger, square bridge dovetailed receiver and classic-styled walnut stock. This weapon uses 9.3x62 mm cartridges and features an additional optical scope. DMR: The Designated Marksman Rifle is a semi-automatic, gas-operated rifle. It is a modified and accuracy-increased version of the M14 rifle and is used extensively by the US Marine Corps. This weapon uses 7.62x51 NATO cartridges and is highly prized for its power, light weight and rapid, but accurate fire. KSVK: The KSVK is a large-caliber anti-materiel sniper rifle developed in Russia. The main use of this weapon is counter-sniping and penetrating brick walls as well as lightly armored vehicles. The KSVK uses 12.7mm ammunition and is equipped with standard Russian side-mounted scope rail. M107: The M107 is a long-range, shoulder fired, semi-automatic sniper rifle, manufactured by Barrett Firearms Company. It is highly prized for its manageable recoil. The M107 uses 12.7x99 mm cartridges and its effective range is around 1.800 m. M24: The M-24 sniper weapon system is a 7.62 mm, bolt-action repeating rifle based on the Remington 700 (like the USMC M40). The barrel is designed to be free-floating, further improving its already superior accuracy. It is used with an M3A 10X magnifying scope. The M24 is accurate to about 800 meters but an experienced marksman can hit a target 1200 meters away. Mk12 SPR: This weapon, used by Special Forces snipers of both the US Army and US Navy, is a heavily modified precision version of the M4 Carbine. SPR initially stood for ‘Special Purpose Receiver' (an M4 SOPMOD accessory), but since the weapon became a complete system, this has been changed to ‘Special Purpose Rifle.' This type was classified by the Navy as the Mk 12 and the Army now also uses this designation. This sharpshooter rifle features a scope capable of up to 10x magnification. SVD Dragunov: The SVD was designed as a sharpshooter's rifle, rather than a sniper rifle. In fact the main role of the SVD in the Soviet Army was to increase the effective range of an infantry squad's fire to 600 meters by providing precision fire support. The SVD is a lightweight and accurate rifle, capable of semi-auto fire and equipped with a 4x24 PSO-1 scope. The SVD is extremely reliable in all conditions. ArmA II: Sniper Rifles Weaponry Site Special Purpose Weapons (SPW): These guns were designed, developed or modified to provide maximum performance for special warfare. Subsonic ammunition or integrated silencers are a few of the features which make them different. MP5: The MP5 is a German submachine gun famous for its great reliability and excellent accuracy in its class. It is the weapon of choice within the international community of military and law-enforcement special forces. The MP5SD features a very efficient internal sound suppressor and even its trigger mechanism is designed to be silent making it the perfect weapon for quick, stealth actions and close quarter battles. PP-19 Bizon: The Bizon is a unique submachine gun with its distinctive 64 round helical magazine. It is based heavily on the AKS74U and functions much the same way but the use of the smaller 9x18mm round trades penetration and range for magazine capacity and control. VSS Vintorez: The VSS Vintorez (in English: Thread Cutter) is a suppressed sniper rifle made in Russia. It can be stripped down and transported in a relatively small briefcase and because of this it was mainly used for undercover operations by Spetsnaz. This weapon has a built-in suppression system making it a great infiltration and sniping weapon. The only drawback is the relatively small effective range of about 400m. ArmA II: Special Purpose Weapons Weaponry Site Shotguns: Shotguns are effective at close range, which makes them the weapon of choice for close-combat battles. M1014: The M1014, also known as the Benelli M4 Super 90, is manufactured by Benelli Armi S.P.A. in Italy. It is a 12 gauge semi-automatic combat shotgun designed for US Armed Service. The M1014 fires 2.75 or 3 inch shells with about 50 m effective range. Saiga 12K: The Saiga-12K is a 12 gauge semi-automatic, gas-operated combat shotgun, made in Russia. The Saiga-12K design is based on the AK and shares that weapon's famous reliability. The Saiga-12K shotgun uses 12 gauge shotgun shells. The weapon itself is not too accurate but when used over short distances is quite devastating. ArmA II: Shotguns Weaponry Site AT/AA Launchers: There are a variety of rocket launchers capable of destroying a heavily armored combat vehicle for a reasonable price. FGM-148 Javelin: The Javelin is a manportable fire-and-forget infantry anti-tank munition designed to penetrate the armor of today's heavily armored Main Battle Tanks. The Javelin has replaced the Dragon system in US Army and Marine Corps service. FIM-92F Stinger: The Stinger is a man-portable, shoulder-fired anti-aircraft guided missile system designed to defeat low-altitude air targets. The system is a fire-and-forget missile with a passive infrared seeker and IFF (Identification-Friend-or-Foe) system. The latest versions have improved range, maneuverability and significant countermeasures immunity. Igla 9K38: The Igla (in English: Needle) is a Russian, man-portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile weapon. This weapon is designated as "SA-18" in the US and its NATO reporting name is "Grouse". The Igla uses 9M39 missiles. This weapon is highly valued for its resistance to countermeasures. Because of its easy availability on the black market it has often been used in terrorist attacks on civilian aircraft over last 30 years, mostly in Africa. M136: The M136 is the successor of the M72 LAW in US Army service. The M136 is a recoilless weapon used primarily by infantry to defeat light armor. The 84mm High Explosive Anti-Tank (HEAT) warhead provides high penetration capability and lethal after-armor effects. RPG-7V: RPG-7V - The RPG-7 is a recoilless, shoulder-fired, muzzle-loaded, reloadable anti-tank grenade launcher. The RPG-7V model can be fitted with a telescopic sight and both infrared and passive night sights. It can also fire the powerful PG-7VR 105mm tandem HEAT rocket grenade. RPG-18 Mukha: The RPG-18 Mukha (in English: Fly) is a short-range, disposable, light weight anti-tank rocket launcher made in Russia. The RPG-18 fires a 64 mm warhead mounted on small rocket with an effective range of 200 m. This weapon is able to penetrate up to 375mm of conventional armor and is not reloadable. SMAW: The SMAW (Shoulder-launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon) is a small rocket weapon, which operates as a portable anti-armor rocket launcher. It fires highly-explosive dual-purpose rockets with an effective range of 500 m and is useful against bunkers, masonry, concentrated walls and light armor. Strela-2 9K32: The 9K32 Strela-2 (NATO name SA-7 Grail) is a man-portable, shoulder-fired surface-to-air missile (SAM) with passive infrared homing guidance, similar to the US Army Stinger. The 9K32 is a tail-chase missile dependent on the operator's ability to lock it onto the heat source of low-flying jets and helicopters. ArmA II: AT/AA Launchers Weaponry Site Mounted Weapons: There are a variety of mounted machineguns, grenade launchers and other weapons to set up as permanent defenses. AGS-30: AGS-30 automatic grenade launcher was developed as a lightweight alternative to the already proven and successful AGS-17. This weapon is used mostly for infantry fire support and can be installed on vehicles. DShKM: The DShK (Degtyarev-Shpagin Large Calibre) is a Soviet heavy machine gun firing 12.7mm (.50 in) Soviet cartridges. The 'modernized' DShKM version was introduced in 1946. It has been largely replaced by modern NSV and Kord machine guns, but still finds its place in armies and resistance groups the world over. Kord: The Kord is a Russian heavy machine gun. This weapon entered service in 1998 and replaced the older NSV machine gun. At first glance the Kord resembles the NSV but it provides greater accuracy during sustained fire. The Kord uses 12.7x108 mm cartridges and has a rate of fire of about 750 rpm with an effective range of 2000m. M2: The Browning M2 .50 caliber Machine Gun, is a World War II era automatic, crew-operated machine gun. The very versatile M2 has served on a wide variety of ground vehicles, aircraft and ships over the years, and is still widely used around the world. This weapon can be used effectively against infantry, light armored vehicles, slow flying aircraft and small boats. MK-19: The Mk-19 Grenade Launcher is a US belt-fed automatic 40mm grenade launcher. It entered the service during the Vietnam War and is still in service. The Mk-19 fires 40mm grenades at a cyclical rate of 325 to 375 rps, with an effective range of 1500m. ZU-23: The ZU-23 is an air-defence cannon made in Russia. It features two 2A14 23 mm auto-cannons based on small trailer, which works as stationary mount for firing as well. The weapon is aimed and fired manually and besides against aircraft, it can be used even against ground targets as troops or lightly armored vehicles. ArmA II: Mounted Weapons Weaponry Site Static Launchers: Mounted anti-tank and anti-air launchers are among the most advanced defenses. Static launchers use guided rockets of a higher caliber. Igla AA pod: The Igla (in English: Needle) is a Russian, man-portable infrared homing surface-to-air missile weapon. This weapon is designated as "SA-18" in the US and its NATO reporting name is "Grouse." The Igla uses 9M39 missiles. This weapon is highly valued for its resistance to countermeasures. Because of its easy availability on the black market it has often been used in terrorist attacks on civilian aircraft over last 30 years, mostly in Africa. The pod is a support device with three legs, which heavily reduces the supersonic wave drag. AT-9K115 Metis-M: The AT-9K115 Metis-M (NATO reporting name is AT-13 Saxhorn-2) is a Russian anti-tank missile system. Thanks to its light weight (only 13,8 kg), the AT-13 can be easily transported by infantry units or vehicles. This system is extremely easy to operate – it can fire up to 4 rounds per minute. Stinger anti air missile pod: The Stinger is a man-portable, shoulder-fired anti-aircraft guided missile system designed to defeat low-altitude air targets. The system is a fire-and-forget missile with a passive infrared seeker and IFF (Identification-Friend-or-Foe) system. The latest versions have improved range, maneuverability and significant countermeasures immunity. The Stinger anti air missile pod is a support device which heavily reduces the supersonic wave drag. SPG-9: The SPG-9 Kopye (in English: Spear) is a Russian recoilless gun. It fires fin-stabilised, rocked-assisted 73 mm HE or HEAT projectiles with effective range of about 800 m. TOW stands for "Tube-launched Optically-tracked Wire-to-command-Link." The TOW is able to penetrate up to 1m of armor, with an effective range of 3.750m. ArmA II: Static Launchers Weaponry Site Artillery: Howitzers and mortars provide decisive long-range support to advancing troops. Many artillery pieces are capable of firing special ammunition, such as flares or laser-guided rounds, or even to lay down a smokescreen. Podnos 2B14: The Podnos (in English: Tray) 2C14 is a Russian 82 mm mortar. It was designed as a supporting weapon for motorized rifle companies and its goal is to destroy and suppress enemy infantry. D-30 howitzer: The D-30 122mm howitzer, also known as the 2A18M Lyagushka, has a revolving mount that permits 360 degree rotation and is designed for both high and low angles of fire making it fully suitable for fire support and anti-tank defense. M119-A1 howitzer: The M119A1 is a lightweight air-mobile artillery piece used to provide direct and indirect fire support to infantry units. The howitzer can be quickly moved and deployed to provide maximum fire power in a short period of time. ArmA II: Artillery Weaponry Site Well that's all of them, post on what you like or dislike about that list. Also post what weapons you would have used in the game. In my opinion these weapons are very good, some bad choices but overall very good. More Information and Screenshots can be found here: Official ArmA II Weaponry Site

A Full list of Confirmed & Suspected Vehicles is located Here Following on from my Factions and Weapons sections on these Forums, I've decided to include the recently released Vehicles too. I will update every time BIS release new information. ArmA II: Vehicles Vehicles in ArmA 2 come in unsurpassed numbers and variety: civilian cars and boats, military cars and trucks, wheeled and tracked armored personnel carriers, tanks or aircraft; all of them created with strict attention to detail. Every vehicle in the game can be controlled by both players and AI alike and provides features authentic to each vehicle. -> Features: -> A unique simulation of various types of vehicles. -> Various in-vehicle roles: commander, driver, gunner, assistant gunner. -> Accurate weaponry, including optics, tracer rounds and effects. -> Speed differs according to type of surface. -> Vehicles differ in many aspects according to their real-life specifications (e.g. speed, sturdiness, fuel capacity). -> Dust effects when driving over certain surfaces, rotor downwash effects for helicopters and VTOL aircraft. -> Destructible wheels and limited partial destruction. -> Destroyed vehicles turn into wrecks, explode appropriately according to the amount of fuel and ammunition they contain. -> Burning and secondary explosions of wrecks. -> Some vehicles feature simple defensive countermeasures. -> Virtual Heads-Up Display in several aircraft. Vehicle Sections: Tracked Military Vehicles: Tracked vehicles are armed with powerful long-range cannons, machineguns and guided rockets. They provide tactical superiority in ground combat and are perfect for penetrating enemy defenses. ARMA 2 features main battle tanks and APCs from the Cold-War era through to the most recent, modern designs. 2S6M Tunguska: The 2S6M Tunguska (NATO reporting name is SA-19 Grison) is an Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft tracked vehicle with a surface-to-air gun and missile system. It is designed to provide day and night protection for infantry and tank regiments against low-flying aircraft helicopters and cruise missile. 2S6M Tunguska Picture M270 MLRS: The M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (M270 MLRS) is an unguided rocket artillery system. It is a very mobile unit well suited for the 'shoot-and-scoot' tactic. The system is capable of firing guided or unguided projectiles to distances of 42 km; or ballistic missiles to distances of 300 km. M270 MLRS Picture AAV P7A1: The Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) is a fully tracked amphibious landing vehicle used by the US Marine Corps. The AAVP-7A1 is the most common AAV version. It carries M2HB .50 caliber heavy machine gun, and an Mk19 40mm automatic grenade launcher. AAV P7A1 Picture BMP-2: The BMP-2 is an infantry fighting vehicle. In contrast to the BMP-1, it has an enlarged two-man turret which mounts a 30-mm 2A42 automatic gun with a double-baffle muzzle brake, while it retains the 7.62-mm coaxial machine gun. On top of the turret is an AT-5 ATGM launcher to defeat armored vehicles. * Variants: BMP-2 (HQ), BMP-2 (Ambulance) BMP-2 Picture BMP-3: The BMP-3 is is an infantry fighting vehicle developed in Russia. It is one of the most heavily armed combat vehicles worldwide. It features 2A70 100 mm rifled gun, 2A72 dual feed autocannon, 7.62 mm machine gun, and two 7.62 mm bow machine guns. The BMP-3 is capable of engaging targets out to 5-6 km, however there is minimum engagement range of about 300 m. BMP-3 Picture M1A2 TUSK: The M1A1, famous for its role in the Gulf Wars, is the United States’ primary Main Battle Tank. The M1A1 features an M256 smoothbore cannon capable of firing an armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) round with a depleted uranium penetrator. This one is upgraded with TUSK (Tank Urban Survival Kit) allowing for greater survivability in urban terrain. * Variants: M1A1 M1A2 TUSK Picture T-72: The T-72, introduced in the early 1970s, is not an evolution of the T-64 but rather a parallel development that proved simpler to produce and maintain. While the T-64 was supplied only to forward-deployed Soviet units the T-72 was deployed within the USSR and exported to non-Soviet Warsaw Pact armies and numerous other countries. T-72 Picture T-90: The GPO Uralvagonzavod T-90 is a Russian main battle tank derived from the T-72 and is the most modern tank in the Russian Ground Forces. The T-90's main armament is the 2A46M 125 mm smoothbore anti-tank gun. It also carries the PKT - 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and the Kord - 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun. T-90 Picture ZSU-23 Shilka: The ZSU-23-4 Shilka is a combination of a proven radar system, the chassis of the PT-76 light tank, and four 23 mm cannons. The result of this amalgamation is a vehicle displaying the key assets of mobility, firepower and accuracy. The ZSU-23-4 outclassed all NATO anti-aircraft guns at the time of its introduction and it is still regarded as a major threat to low-flying aircraft. The Shilka was widely used throughout the Warsaw Pact and other pro-Soviet states. Its main task during the past years for was to fight challenging counter-insurgecy campaign in the mountaineous regions of Northern Chernarus. "In the name of freedom, equality and brotherhood of nations of the Fatherland, we swear to fight for the freedom and independence of the Republic of Chernarus." - from the Oath of Enlistment of CDF. * Equipment of CDF soldiers is a mixture of older gear, modern kevlar helmets and camouflage fatigues based on Soviet airborne uniform design. Role: Official Military Force Of The Russian Federation. Mission: Protecting of Russian Civilians and Interests in Chernarussia - Regardless of outcome of actions. ArmA II: Russian Armed Forces Site Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star: Although the communist insurgency has its roots as an underground movement, it is now a conventional force with military structure and weapon platforms captured from the Chernarussian government or provided by international arms dealers. This has given ChDKZ enough power to start a coup against the government. „One man with a gun can control hundred without one.“ - V. I. Lenin * Insurgents wear various old fatigues of Russian origin, commonly in an urban color scheme. They are armed with a variety of personal weapons, ranging from old AKMs to captured AK-74s. Anti-tank and anti-armor launchers of various types are commonly used as the ChDKZ purchases them from arms dealers in great numbers. * Insurgents lack the logistic infrastructure of a modern army, therefore the vehicles they use don't appear in great numbers and troops have only limited support, artillery is rather rare. * Insurgents use mostly older Eastern combat vehicles captured from government forces. Hand-made camouflage spray-paint is often used on their vehicles. * ChDKZ also uses various captured aircraft, but its deployment is limited to a small part of Chernarus, far from government air bases. * Insurgents are organized into regional task forces, which are lead by and named after field warlords who are direct subordinates of „Akula" (Shark), supreme leader of ChDKZ. Role: Rebel Force Of The Russian Minority. Mission: To Defeat the Government Forces in South Zagoria, Creating new South Zagoria Free State. Vehicles: BRDM, BMP-2, T-72. Aircraft: Mi-17. ArmA II: Chernarussian Movement of the Red Star Site NAPA - National Party: Nationalist guerrillas of the National Party is an underground movement lacking sophisticated weapons, but their knowledge of the country, military expertise from civil war and underground network make them serious opponents to both communist guerrillas and government forces. „We have to show common citizens that our actions are focused on rooting out the evil, not on punishing anyone based on their nationality. Disarm the ordinary armed men, but eliminate all commissars, commanders and functionaries ruthlessly.“ - Soldier's Handbook, allegedly by Prizrak, supreme warlord of NAPA. * Guerillas use a mixture of civilian and military clothing and light equipment; anti-tank weapons are rare and consist mostly of RPG-7 stolen from Chernarussian military. Occasionally, better weapons purchased from weapons dealers are in use. * They commonly use balaclavas, ski masks or bandanas to cover their faces to avoid identification. * Favorite weapons are the old and reliable AK-47; many local guerillas also use hunting rifles. Important part of NAPA arsenal are also various IEDs, RPG-7 anti-tank launchers or home-made explosives. * Guerillas use mostly hit-and-run tactics; they disappear soon after they strike. * Heavy equipment is usually makeshift originals, stored in safe houses and forest camps deep in the mountains. Technicals: Civilian cars with mounted weapons are used for hit-and-run tactics. . Armor: Small numbers of lighter vehicles stolen from other factions. Role: Nationalist Rebel movement opposed to all sides. Mission: To Defeat the Government Forces and Red Star Movement. ArmA II: National Party Site Citizens of Chernarus: The proud people of Chernarus were divided by the civil war and its consequences. A majority of Chernarussian citizens are of Chernarussian nationality, with their own language and culture. There is also an ethnic Russian minority living mainly in the northern territories, where Russian is the second official language. People are also divided by their political alignments and sympathies. „Yes, I'm pretty sure 'twas him. Yeah, it might have been a group of guerillas in Ghillie suits, but Sir, snipers surely wouldn't try to unscrew that Chedak's head!" - from the notes of Cpt. Dressler, Marine Corps Intelligence Activity. * Chernarussians are mostly villagers or foresters. City people from the coast work mainly in harbours and factories. * After the civil war, life is equally boring everywhere: not much remains of the few cultural events and entertainment the distant Northern Province previously had to offer. * Citizens are quite friendly to soldiers, sometimes even providing valuable intel. However, they rarely speak English, so knowledge of Chernarussian or Russian really helps. * Causing any harm to the civilian population could lead to a loss of support and hostility towards the soldiers. Improper behavior towards the local women might cause a very rude response. * Chernarussian Bigfoot is often said to be spotted in the mountains of Northern Chernarus. ArmA II: Citizens of Chernarus Site Role: Civilians Of Chernarussia. Mission: Civilians are Civilians, Mission is to live life as easily as possible. Roles and Missions are just my personal descriptions, they are not Official BIS descriptions of the Factions Roles and Missions.
