OK, I just thought it's an ACE related thing, because in vanilla I didn't have that. I know you are working on things like crazy (thanks for the M1028 ammo in the Abrams ;)), and I don't want to harass you, I just needed to confirm for myself you know about it. At least I thought better post here first than making another unnecessary ticket on dev-heaven. -

@KingHomer It seems to me that some tanks can take a lot more shots into the side armor than the front (in case of T-90 three 3 sabots from M256 to the front, and about 5-6 shots to the side from a 90 degree position). T-90, T-72B so far tested, I'll test M1s and the rest later today. Story may be different if targeting front/forward or front/aft and when firing at the target from different angles. Not counting this, overally I can say that there is a visible improvement considering armor, most tanks can absorb more punishment on the front than the rear. -

GAZ Tigr for ArmA 1 worked for me with CAA1, you might give it a try without it, there are some Arma 1 addons that work with ArmA 2 without any problem. -

@Roadki11 I've heard a long ago about your project, which I hope means you're working on your project quietly but surely. I've seen your new models are based on the MLODs from ArmA 1. Should I suggest to scrap them and keep the textures only, and ask someone for a more up-to-date model (Rellikki's or D@VÅ's for example, or Binkowski for western themed stuff, or Vilas's Polish ones...)? -

What the M16A2 is the ugly gun??? WTF seriously? Because no railinteradapterface system with for flaslight-lasermarker-swissarmyknife-cokevendingmachine combo on it? I assume they won't get outfitted with spec ops camo christmas tree M4A1s because regular army dudes are using M4s with a little bit less decoration and camo.

@Steve I think it's the ACEized AH-64 that makes this. Not a big problem for me thought, at least my AI gunner is not shooting one round every 5 seconds from 1000m -

Try the Hi-Fi weapon sound beta, I think you can use it along this mod, just move the corresponding pbo's from CSM to a disable folder -

Uhm, I think Youtube is not the best source for recording weapon sounds, there are too much variables; microphone, environment, sound quality... to be honest, I didn't ever heard the same gun sounds in different youtube clips with the same weapons. -

@Steve Just quick tested the addon, when I switched to manual fire as pilot the M230 had the 10 round burst capacity by default, but couldn't switch to 20 round burst. @larsiano You can have it, hold the left mouse buttoon until gun's empty ;) -

@Vilas I have one report, don't know if it's an issue, but on the weapons the bolt doesn't visibly moves when shooting the last bullet. I don't know if is intended, (don't know if vanilla animation when bolt stays back on AK weapons is realistic or not), but I thought I'll tell about it. And one question: I'm using HiFi weapon sound mod, and most of the sounds are replaced (in case of every AK-47, AK-74, AK-105, PK, SVD), except for some like AN-94, AS VAL, VSS, AEK-971, 9A91, OC-14 and AK-105 are use vanilla sounds. I assume these weapons has vanilla sounds put into the pbo's and are using it (I'm not an addonmaker, so I don't know how it works). From my view, most "non-reskin" weapons use vanilla sounds. Is there a way to have these weapons use the vanilla sounds in a way that theirs can be replaced by sounds from other mods? I ask this because the SV-98's sound is replaced by the HiFi addon, so I tought this can be done to the rest of the weapons. Thank you in advance. -

Yes, since the last update I get a loading screen stating "CBA initializing" before every mapload, but it's only there for about 2 or 3 seconds, so it's not a issue for me. EDIT: didn't download tonight's update so I don't know if it's there in the latest...waiting for KH to update...;) -

@TRexian Although I see some point in the idea, it would be more or less an unnecessary complication of things, I doubt it can be changed by a small config - but I'm not an addonmaker, they will tell it. What would make things really difficult, that even inside the US Armed Forces, branches does not always having "overlapping" ranks examples in the first post: -USAF has two E-7 ranks, others have one; -USN has three E-9, others two (not counting here the unique NCO ranks); -US Army has two E-4 ranks, while other have only one Now things will be really messed up when one will want to create other factions' rank system, for example differences in Russian and US ranks are well visible, for example Russia has three ranks entitled "lieutenant". Smaller armies usually have less enlisted ranks, I can introduce it through the Hungarian Army: While the US Army/USMC/USAF has five levels (and 7-8 types of them) for "sergeants", the much smaller Hungarian Army has only three ranks (three levels - sergeant, staff sergeant, sergeant major), so I think the CDF would have similaliry less ranks. Other problem, what ranks to give for insurgents/guerillas? While I'm sure much of such organisations applies ranks, but also there are a lot who don't care about such things. @others If someone has the free time for it I'm not against the making, but don't put such responsibilities to BI's shoulders, let them work on other improvements, such as performance and AI, and OA of course. -

Well I played through ArmA campaign 2 or 3 times, but I don't remember AI having such problems in the Dolores mission, the tanks and the BMPs maybe a bit slowly, but crossed the bridge without serious problem for me. Also there was a side mission, where you had to go to Obregan with two Humvees (one with Mk19, one with M2) to take out some trucks filled with infantry, and I left the AI drive there, they passed the bridge normally. One glitch with the bridges such as in Dolores (the easternmost in particular) is that my car passed through too fast and collided with the building on the other side. Maybe if I set a waypoint with speed limited it'll be more succesfull crossing it, will try it out.

@KaBoNG I have other problems with the main northern route in South Sahrani. When I give an order for the driver to go to Paraiso, it drives for some of the way, then it decides to cut the road down, and starting to go across the hills. when I gave him the order to drive to the "intersection", and into the city after it, it used the road correctly. You can observe it in one of the menu intros for Sahrani; we see the mountains from the northern main road, a T-72 is parked next to the road, a convoy is moving westwards on the road (BMPs, a T-72, some Urals) and suppose to pass before the camera. Whats happening at me, they are leaving the road and head for the "shortcut" up the hills. Also can you please check the bridge south of Obregan? Because it was very hard for me to "convince" AI to drive through it.

@Stang Although somewhere I understand your point, please keep in mind that the developers intention was to keep the mission editor as simple as possible, to ensure a lot of users could make their own scenarios. Also a lot of real life ranks doesn't show up on a battlefield, because of their general assignments, eg.: you probably won't see a Sergeant Major ordering a rifle squad around in an engagement, but rather as an aid for a battalion/regiment/... commander, just like Master Sergeants are usually belonging to the staff (concerning the Corps). The terms "rifleman, AT gunner, Machinegunner, etc." are also generic terms, they are used for editorial designations, and to indicate the default weaponry that the unit carries. In this view MOS designations should be applied to every class of men (for example: 0311 Rifleman, 0317 Scout Sniper, 0313 LAV Crewman in USMC case or 11A Inf. officer, 21B Combat engineer, 19K Armor crewman for US Army....) Although USMC is one of my most liked branch, don't forget that you can also find four other armies in the game, we should say that the campaign is based around the USMC (one Force Recon team in particular). And in a campaign of your own there's nothing restricting you from adding real ranks to your soldiers, if just namely only: http://www.arma2.com/characters_en.html @HAMMERJ The "Ultimate Military Simulation" phrase in my view stands for this: even today you can't find another VANILLA game that simulates the real modern battlefield as realistically as ArmA 2 in the overall picture. It might lack proper armor penetration values, but show me a tank simulator that has proper infantry modelled; it might lack realistic flight models, but show me an airplane sim where you can walk into buildings; it might lack of jumping ability and ragdoll-effects, but who needs them when you're walking around on a 225 km2 real-life based map, where the max number of persons lurking around can be more than 2500 (3000? 4000? How much in DR? 64?). Of course there is Combat Mission series, which is more realistic in many aspects, but in that you still can't jump into the boots of a single soldier to taste the combat in absolute personally. -
