@jasonnoguchi Sorry but I vote no on this one. A module, maybe, but no way to do it default. No need to go rampant if they reject a suggestion, decision is theirs. So far I added about a dozen suggestions on dev-heaven, two of it were accepted and made, the rest were rejected, big deal, search for other things. Getting many votes for a suggestion doesn't mean it is good idea -in my view the much-talked ACOG-CQB sight, suggestions for ACR rifle and such are getting many points, but are unnecessary. @HateDread You have, even I had (M1028 Canister addon and M1A2 TUSK added to US Army faction were my suggestions). Only you don't have to take everything too personally, and listen to the cons of your pros, in an acceptable manner. -

One has to note that these penetration values are based on RHA (rolled homogenous armor) values, which type of armour is very rare since the end of WW2. Most modern tanks's armor are made of different materials composed together (see Cobham armor or Combination K) from cheramic plates through fiberglass to depleted uranium (latter's tensile strength is much higher than steel), and other tricks like empty. air filled layers in the armor. Furthermore most of these compositions are classified, so we can only guess how much punishment they can take. I highly doubt a single PG-7VR could penetrate the front of an M1A1 Abrams, side very unlikely too (although not impossible), the back and top armors might be able from close distance, but I'm not sure. Once again I have to refer to what I've read about the Battle of Grozny in the First Chechen War, Chechen soldiers made coordinated attacks on unescorted Russian armor from side-back-top, an tanks, even IFVs needed several close-range RPG hits for the crew to bail out (I know they most probably weren't use too many PG-7VRs) EDIT: on the GAU-8A debate: the 30mm round probalby won't penetrate the front side of a tank, but with an A-10 you most probably will attack from the upper portion :rolleyes: -

Sorry my friend for further correction, in the vanilla game there are five versions of the G-36: G-36A full lenght, G-36K shortened, G-36C compact, G-36C with EoTech and suppressor, and the AG-36 SAW/LMG. You can find them in the "Special Weapons" box in the editor (not "US Special Weapons" box!) -

Yuri, I have to correct you a bit, RPG-22 and G36K (original German model) can be found in the vanilla game, I think even 9K111, although on top of the BMP-2 (or is that 9K113?) -

Oh I just came to realize that there are M829A1/A2/A3 in the mod -also M830 and M830A1. I tried to add these ammo to the Abrams in the editor to test them, but I couldn't. Anyway after some more play, I was able to instantly blow up T-72As using HEAT in the Abrams (like with the T-72Bs 3BK29, T-72A's HEAT round is much more weaker). How are these subversions distributed? Seems all Abrams are carrying M829A1s in the ACE_30rnd_120mmSABOT clip, or is it only for the A1? Can I add these other version to the tank manually in the editor, or shall I wait for an update for this? -

Of course I'm thinking out-of the old hitpoint system, the case is that with the M829 SABOT I usually get the crew of a T72A killed with the first or second shot, and the tank itself gets damage to a certain degree (rarely it stays functionable, and another crew can take the past ones place), and with a 3BK29 HEAT (from another T-72) in most cases blows up the T-72A with the very first shot (sometimes even from the front- lucky shot) so that gave me the impression that it is more devastating than the M829. -

Returning to the Armor system...is that possible to make a replacement config for 3rd party armored vehicles, so they get ACE penetration values/armor ratings, and I don't have to change the original config? Edit: did anyone tried the difference between the M829 SABOT and the 3BK29 HEAT-FS-T ? Seems that the latter is superior against heavy armor, at least it destroys a T-72A with less rounds -

I think accounts on the recent Russian-Georgian conflict could be a good source, or even experiences from the two Chechen wars. I've read that in the first Chechen war at the battle of Grozny, Russians sent armor into the city without proper infantry support, and the Chechens were able to immobilize/heavily damage T-72s with several RPGs fired simultaneously from "high ground". On which version of PG rockets were, I don't know. -

In MP I don't care too. In SP it's an IL-2 Sturmovik-related illness, I want to paint tallies on the side of my cabin after every clash :D Edit: I merely apologise if this had been asked, but it hit a nail in my thoughts... in ACE you have to actually use a laser sight to mark targets for several laser-guided aircraft weapons (GBU-12, Kh-29...), and right now the only way to precisely drop/fire these ordnances you have to get it targeted with an infantry-held laser designator. What about the onboard laser targeting/designator systems that these planes (A-10, Su-25) have in RL, will those be implemented? -

Thanks for clearing that KingHomer, I hope you and the team don't get offended by our posts, it's really only to give feedback to you what we think might be problematic (for my part at least) and not to whine around. After further testing, I'm overally satisfied with this new armor system, but it sometimes gives me a WTF moment (for example when several sabots just bounces off from the rear of a T-72A, or driving away after being hit by a Maverick), and it is a bit unusual at the first time that you don't get kill count for what you have been "destroyed" (thinking of vehicles here), but that can be lead back to good old OFP times - for example if you damage an airplane enough for it to crash, the "ground will get the kill score" :) Well we have to learn to live without it -

I would stay clear of it in the first place, ACE team is working continously on the project. Before I report anything I'd like to know what other people are experiencing, yet I have a lot of aspect to survey (Hellfires, hand-held and crew served AT systems like Metis and TOW, opfor tank rounds/rockets, Bushmasters, different RPG warheads ectect...) All I say that inconsistencies can be found, however if -for instance- tuning down the AP capabilities of the M830 HEAT is for playability reason, then I don't recommend anything. For now I will report my findings here and discuss it out with others, to try and help out ACE team in their future development. -

Grats for the new developments ACE team! However the new armor system makes one eye laughing and one eye crying for me, it could still use some work (don't take it offensely please). I played a bit around with it, there are more aspect to look at, I just give some first impressions. What I like about it: -vehicles don't become burned out wrecks immediately; -different levels of damages on the vehicles (smoking turret, burning engine...); -Crew damaging system is good idea and well executed (not neccesarily all of them die) What I dislike (concrete examples): -sometimes two AGM-65s neccesary into a T-72A only to take out the crew (not to destroy the tank); -T-72As sometimes can take so many rounds from a GAU-8 you could sink a Nimitz-class mothership with that quantity; -frontal armor of a T-72A is impenetrable even with M829 SABOT rounds (I'll test Abrams and T-90 too); -Zsu-23 Shilka, BMP, even BRDM cannot be destroyed with one M830 HEAT (which seems interesting to me, I thought it is a very capable anti-armor round which can easily take out even older MBTs - T-55, T-62, T-72A) Later I'll test out some more, I just liked to convey my first hand experience, and I'm curious what's the experience of others with the system. -

OK I've finished with the first set of sound replacement, with this addon you can have HiFi weapon sounds for the next in Vilas' Russian/East European weapon pack: -AN-94 Abakan (uses HiFi AK-107 sounds); -AEK971 (uses HiFi AK-107 sounds); -AKS-74U (uses HiFi AKS-74U sounds); -AK-105 (uses HiFi AK74 sounds); -OC-14 (uses HiFi AKS-74U/UN sounds); -VSS (uses HiFi VSS sounds); -VAL (uses HiFi VSS sounds); -9A91 (uses HiFi Bizon sounds); -SR-3 Vikhr (uses Hifi Bizon sounds); -AEK973 (uses HiFi AK-107 temporarly) In the future I'll add HiFi sounds for the handguns too, and try to change AEK973's sound to AK-47/AKM sound. Of course any recommendation for change is welcome. All credits are go to Mark XIII and Vilas, I only take short drinks (anything from vodka to whisky :) ). The work is theirs, I cannot and will not give permission to change the content I bring to you, you have to ask them for it. That's right, Mark XIII did kindly gave me the permission to use his sounds, so I will start dig myself into the configs today, but I request patience from the interests, as I'm really new to this kind of business, and I make a lot of mistakes in the first place, so I might be a little slow -

Strange, maybe if team leader is a player then he should give a "disembark" order for all team/squad members. I had similar problems before when I was the leader in an AI group. Don't know much about MP thought. Give it a try, maybe it works there too. -

@JDMT I'm using this method: -add an invisible (or any other) H on the intended LZ -give a TRANSPORT UNLOAD waypoint to the chopper near/over the H -give an UNLOAD waypoint for the infantry leader(s) that are in the chopper -synchronize the two (may not be necessary) Now it works well if I put a chopper with it's own default crew, I remember having problems back in OFP when adding an empty chopper and giving waypoints to individual units. Edit: If I don't give any H for the chopper, default BI choppers are hovering above the ground at 1-2ms while infantry jumping out, so I doubt that the chopper is any bugged. If you think I'll send you a working sample mission in which you change the MH-60 to the CH-46 in the editor and see how it works. Edit2: seemingly the only important to get the Heli land is a H object and a "TRANSPORT UNLOAD" waypoint near it. -

No, unluckily the latest WarFX drastically reduces my performance, so I don't use it right now. Major mods I'm using are ACE2 and CAA1/OAC core.
