    ArmA CTI mode

    CTI is basically suppose to be PVP with the control of some AI at the players disposal. The CTI that BIS put out with the game is only a glimps of what people are trying to incorperate into the game.

    I think your idea sounds pretty good but I also think there are many flaws that seem to be overlooked in your planning process. Most squads that play CTI do have thier commanders and thier pilots, tankers, inf, ect. The difference is they get to pick and choose what they need to do to help the team in any given situation they are currently exposed to. Not limited to one thing that could (depending on the situation) hinder them from helping thier team altogether. For example what happens when your pilot can't get his plane or heli's off the ground because the base is being constantly bombarded and he is not in a playing role to operate a Tank? This seems to defeat the purpose and would practically be the same as if you could just pick and choose what you want to do freely like you already can do in current working versions of CTI! This is a decent idea, however the maps already in the game are realistic, and the game is already set up so that icons can be placed both globally and team specific. You can already assign positions for players to move to and take as the commander in existing CTI. This is done by placing a waypoint on the map and assigning it to the unit or player you wish to move there. I am assuming the style would be like the current working CTI that comes with ArmA when your talking about how fortifications are to be equiped on the defensive end. This is where a supply truck drives up and starts building at flag areas after a team has taken over that area. I'm not to sure what you mean by the withdrawal process when a base is low on supplies and has to fall back, but it sounds interesting. Group respawn is NOT realistic and will only promote more camping on infantry player roles. When an officer dies he should have to either control AI from respawn or withdraw his troops so that he may return to the battle and command them as a team. The game is already setup so that troops can react the way you would expect them to even if you were there with them. Knowing how to read map elevations and determine where and how to move troops without actually being there is one of my favorite parts of this game! I'm not trying to be to critical; don't get me wrong I think there's alot of good ideas here. However I strongly disagree with the whole hex thing, and also the team respawn thing. I'm very interested in seeing how the mission options would work and also how it would effect different roles. There's also another thing I've noticed that they have implemented into ArmA. When you have a squad thats animations are larger than the bar at the bottom of the screen, you can hit F12 to switch it to an alternate bar and select the remaining troops as F1, F2 ect. Does this mean we will be able to script more troops per officer than 12? If so then players could be given roles such as the one suggested in this idea, sufficently so that players could be given higher ranks and more troops to command over larger areas. Just my two cents.

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

    They sent me back a reply. I tried the downloader again the morning after I placed the order and it worked! The CD KEY is in the e-mail they send you after placing the order, however there may be an issue as to the validity of these keys being issued from the Sprocket website. It seems some users such as myself are having problems connecting to some servers and hosting lan games. A message appears stating "Invalid CD KEY" with a long message that seems to vary from server to server. Some members in my clan have actually bought the physical version and have not experienced the problems some users have reported when using the Sprocket website.

    lol "you got mail" ring a bell? I downloaded from Sprocket and they sent my Key to me in an email. Somtimes mail like this can get stuck sitting in your bulk folder so take a good look. There are some reported problems in another thread about the validity of these downloads and the CD KEYS that come with them. If you experience any problems please let sombody know about it. I would hate to see some company making TONS of money off other peoples hard work and breaking the game and community before it even gets off the ground

    Sprocket Troubleshooting thread.

    I also bought a game from Sprocket and was provided with a key that works on most servers. However some servers give me the message "Invalid CD KEY" and kick me. I also cannot host lan games because of this, but as far as I know my ID is unique as I have yet to see another person with the same ID. I've contacted Sprocket technical support and would suggest not buying this version because it seems they are selling pirated copies. I cannot say for sure that this is the case, but if I'm not the only one having this problem with Sprockets downloads then there is a good chance this is infact the case.

    C 1-8 Surgical Strike

    Map looks very well done, however I think instead of rain it should be in a night setting with no NV's. Me and 3 other members of our squad tried this multiple times using real life movement tactics used by the military to clear a city. We couldn't last more than 5 mins in. Not only that we ended up resorting to hiding in a shed which didn't work out to well lol. I think the problem is that the AI can see you but you can't see them.

    Arma bugs

    I found a neat bug when doing chopper extraction from the water. We were able to get into the chopper from the water but when we were dropped back off on land we found ourselves swimming about 5 feet off the ground! Dunno if anyone has experienced this yet but I will try and get a pic of it asap. Using V1.01 Specs: 2.4Ghz P4 512 RDRAM 6800 Ultra

    New fire texture addon

    I agree a little with both parties here, I think the models in ArmA are fantastic, however I also think there could be some small improvements and a wider variety of models as well. A little off topic, but the ArmA models are so much better than the OFP ones IMO. Great looking flames man, now how the @!#$! do you use them again?!?!?
  13. Right after posting about the tutorial problem, I moved the Tutorial folder out of the Missions folder and then ran the patcher again. This time it worked! I put the Tutorial folder back into the missions folder and everything was fine.
  14. Everything seemed to translate ok for me except the tutorials. I ran the patchers and everything worked, but when I run the patcher for the tutorial I get "the system cannot find the patch specified"? Any solution to this problem?
  15. I wouldn't think adding to the missions would be against copy rights. After all the game is made to be edited in almost every way. However keep us informed, I can safely speak for most of us here in the United States and say that we anxiously await the traslated strings!
  16. No I did convert it to English that was the easy part. The part I was refering to were all of the missions and campains that arn't in English.
  17. Got my Czech copy of ArmA today! Don't know what the hell I'm doing because I can't speak Czech but it seems to play pretty much like OFP as far as key settings

    FFUR 2006 2.0 Total conversion pack

    I don't see what all the hooplah is about a MP Config. KaoS has been adding FFUR compatible MP missions to our server for months. Load up FFUR and take a look. There's some FX however, that do not work or are only client side in the mod, but the fun factor is definitly there.

    spawning under the ground sounds like a bad script. I believe that MFCTI spawns vehicals just above the ground level to prevent such bad spawns. I think it was a few weeks ago that TB said it would be out in a couple days lol.

    No update to the life meter? I only ask because I suspect that this is the cause for people dying multiple times when lit up by machine gun fire and AI running around on the ground as dead bodies shooting you. Will this most dire issue also be fixed with the patch?

    Ya when playing large scale battles such as CTI, the lag factor from crashing planes is insane. Not only that but every fragment of the plane that fly's off is shown on others radar as white squares which REALLY SUCKS BALLS IMO! KaoS Server is back up with an updated version of the FFURCTI. I will post a link to the FTP for the extra addons required for this ASAP. Next week I plan on putting out a @#$! Ton of missions for this incredible mod. Hopefully by then the patch will be out which will hopefully solve several issues with the ffur mod, including the dead bodies moving around and shooting you. I found another bug, I don't think anyone has posted about it but... Not only does the Russian medics carry machine guns, you can not heal at them!!!! Whats the use of a medic with no bandages!
