PLE = Personal Learning Edition, the freeware version of Maya. You may download it from Alias's website, or get it on CDROM in Maya text books eg. Introducing Maya 6 3D for Beginners, by Derakhshani (purchased from Borders). As far as chops go, teaCup totally came through for me whenever I had questions while developing the PLE kit. Like his TCP_Doberman, his bark is worse than his bite :-)

I have developed, with the generous help of teaCup, a kit that allows one to use the freeware version of Maya to make OFP .rtm animations. Maya is the Hollywood-capable 3D modeling and animation program by Alias/Wavefront. MayaPLE is the freeware version of Maya. It is included on CD in many Maya instruction books. You can also download PLE from the Alias.com website (it's big, 127 Mb). MayaPLE provides, at least for me, a faster way to make .rtm's than using OFPAnim. teaCup's rig (an OFP soldier figure with movable skeleton) Â makes it easy to position a soldier by only moving his foot, for example (IK movement, for the pro's). With PLE you can quickly edit your animation, only changing a few keyframes and letting the computer fix all the rest. I still use OFPAnim, though, as together they make a great animation package. Each program has it's strengths. If you are interested in using this kit, please email me. Put "MayaPLE" in your heading so I don't erase it, mistakenly thinking it's spam. Also, let me know which format you require (.zip or .rar). Once I get some feedback, I plan to release this kit publicly, on this forum or wherever there is interest. -------------------- You may obtain the beta version at the following url hosted by Ben at : http://www.dbrweb.co.uk/hosted/PLE2rtmV3_01.rar Brooks bkmart@hotmail.com

teaCup and I had the same idea, using cut and paste to move MayaPLE animation data into OFP. I have made a kit that will do just that. You can thus use the freeware version of a Hollywood-capable 3D animation program, how cool is that? I would like some some beta tester feedback before I release it, though. If you are interested, email me, with "MayaPLE" in the title so I don't mistake it for spam. MayaPLE is far faster than OFPAnim in creating animations, for me at least. OFPAnim is still useful for quickly checking my animations. Much faster than making a config.cpp, PBOing the file, etc., so I use both. I want to thank teaCup for his help and generosity; my kit would not be available without his support.

Earlier you referred to using Maya to make animations. I have developed a kit that will allow you to use MayaPLE, the freeware version of Maya. I developed this kit as an extention of teaCup's kit for regular, expensive ($2k)Maya. I have used my kit to make swordfighting .rtm's (for the Civil War mod). The .rar is about 300kb. Contact me if you are interested, as I have not released it anywhere yet. It works, but I am looking for beta testers. Put MayaPLE in your topic line so I don't erase your message thinking it was spam. Brooks bkmart@hotmail.com
