Doing a little googling I noticed there are a few products that transform your mouse into a "Gun grip" style shape once such find was this http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2008/09/review-novint-f/ and the zalman FPS gun does anyone have or use any of these in Arma2? And if you don't, would you be interested in some more conceptualized products such as these for FPS style gaming?
  2. How about instead of me changing my entire weapon to grab a certain optic or sight or to add a weapon light or laser... You could do this by "customizing" your weapon, provided the weapon has accessory rails so you could do so... So the idea would be im in my hmmwv, and im in a villiage of takistan, i'd rather switch to a different sight than keep my ACOG becasue i will be clearing rooms or in city streets, so instead of having to grab another weapon from hmmwv gear menu to change my optics to an eotech... Why not just have an Eotech sight stored on my solder as a "weapons" equipment item... And if its night time the same idea for a weapon light. Bis tried to alleviate the CQB vs. long range combat on weapons by adding "alternate" weapons sights, to try to solve this problem. But the fundamental problem is the weapon models and accessories for weapons are not separate Maybe this is done because of the weapons coding and AI usage of these weapons?

    well it just seems counter intuitive to me that an enemy soldier without NVG at night can shoot and kill me faster than i can identify he is actually there because of the quirky BIS NVGs
  4. still does not help me in terms of its effect in the game in regards to the eotech sights... "EDIT: Also, the sight of the EOtech is 2mils. The center and down is 1mil."
  5. except by default that may not be a option as weapon choice is based on mission maker... So, really you should try to become proficient at all of them. What do you mean by the Eotech and mils? im not a "military" type

    most notably the BIS single player mission where you are tasked with clearing a town as a SF team and you have NVG and laser on weapon... Thats where I noticed it the most, its damn hard to identify a human form from 100m or so, even more damn hard if its prone and lying in brush and vegitation...

    no I mean the green hue of the NVG seems to mask things and its hard to identify targets from the environment because the green hue seems to blend an enemy soldier to match the surrounding environment

    What I would like to see more of tho is the bounding movements, and suppressive fire usage... Mainly a kind of leap frog retreat and advance that you see small teams such as navy seals use IRL... Basically when the whole team needs to retreat, there is bounding movement along with suppressive fire used to effect a safe tactical retreat from a position while still laying down heavy fire. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSj_Mp-jHWo watch from 3:30 they come under "first contact" with an enemy force and then at 4:10 the team leader signals he wants to pull back and the team in two 3 man fire teams do a tactical pull back while providing covering fire to the other fireteam which is moving. And if you notice they go from movement as a 3 man fireteam... To movement as individual soldiers covering one another... Also in he video you see a CQB style exercise and IRL the individual soldiers are panning their focus around while they are moving in a CQB style environment... This is so that no enemy "sneeks" up on them and they have all sectors covered. The AI in the game do not do this, they fixate their focus at a point rather than keeping their heads on a swivel like this... The suppressive fire gripe that I have with the game is that it seems that suppressive fire only is laid down when an enemy unit that was once visibly has either moved out of LOS or into cover. and essentially suppressive fire command just tells your team to fire at the area where the bad guy was last seen. Suppressive fire technique known as talking guns: Essentially the alternation of weapons fire from 1 AR soldier to another, providing continuous firepower downrange... why M249 SAW is not ideal for CQB environment: The AI in the game doesn't matter if in vehicles or on foot... They do not provide TRUE suppressive fire... Where the enemy should be crapping their pants and dare not poke their heads up. IE: you better be in cover or you're dead. The shear amount of firepower coming down on you is overwhelming and demoralizing...

    well i experienced an odd problem in this user made campaign called Joint Operations... It does use a slew of addons but I have never really experienced this problem before in my playing of the game... http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11418 long story short... When I would place my AI in the addon vehicles and I had a 4 man fireteam seperated as team red in a different vehicle... They would not follow me in formation in the other vehicle or even move to a waypoint i gave them... They essentially would not listen. I seemed to fix it after telling them to get out and back in again, after doing so myself in the other vehicle. But it would appear again sometimes... Dunno if it was the addons, CBA, the mission... The game engine perhaps???
  10. One of the things that bugged me with my testing of the "support" waypoint features was that when I would call for a medic I had grouped with a manned ATV, the medic would come... Heal me, and then just stand there. Then I got to thinking, if this was in the midst of combat the medic would be dead meat most likely... So why not after the support call is completed have the support unit return back to where the support way point is located. So it is more like a staging area for when waiting for a unit to call for support and for when support has been completed and returning back to that initial stating area... To basically act as a staging point for any future support calls.

  12. so essentially it would open the flood gates so to speak? But for psychological cases... Why live a life of torment and harassment? Just because it is your own self or your environment to blame doesn't mean there is no pain or suffering. Psychological pain and distress is just as real as its physical counterpart. What about if you had dementia or Alzheimer? Would you wish to live the rest of your life unaware of your loved ones around you and confused? And maybe even unresponsive to verbal stimuli? The fundamental question seems to be do we have a free will over our body? After all it is the person who is inhabiting that body that has to live with it... Not society.
  13. that doesn't shock me, do you have any idea the amount of people that die every year because of medical mistakes / negligence? Which speaking of... Are not normally painless nor peaceful ways of departing. What about in cases of psychological pain? Such as depression, anxiety, fear, terror, etc etc... Would you allow this right as a fundamental right or would you attach "conditions" to it and for whom to decide? What if you feel that the struggle of life and its pain is just no longer worth your mortality? For what? To endlessly attempt to work to make a meaningless wage and barely be able to provide for yourself much less others? And be forced in a way to borrow money you do not have nor will be able to pay back? There are many questions able to be raised. But the bottom line is, what if you felt you just wished to end it all and enter the end game. For whatever reasoning you have. Should you be stopped? Should you be criminalized and thrown in jail? Should we just not interfere? Should people assist if you are not able to say because of physical handicap? Or should people offer you advice on how to manage it successfully and with the most peace and control? Should we all just wait to become victims of circumstance? or "god's will." Is it not god's will if there is a god? For giving you these circumstances and the thoughts you have? or should we wait for us to be on our death beds? Or be victims of circumstance such as car accidents, natural disasters, war, and just plain old accidents? Did you know, more people die from a wide range of accidents every year than firearms?

    In my demonstration video of several combat modes in my combat mode video, which is quite long. The AI seem to not get stuck on the danger mode necessarily. It is only after all threats in the area are dead that the AI will return to the assigned combat mode I gave them prior to them setting their own danger combat mode automatically... I demonstrated combat modes by having the AI 4 man fire team I was in command of clear a village which had a 5 man Takistani insurgent / militia patrol in it who had a seek and destroy waypoint in a placement radius of 250m. And were set to open fire, engage at will, and combat on that waypoint. http://www.megavideo.com/?v=TJNGHNEE What I found was the enemy AI troops were not sticking together too much, but at most were in 2 man fire teams and were constantly attempting to flank me on both sides and surround my team. And most of the times it would be individual enemy AI soldiers I would encounter trying to do this. At one point in one of my demos I had an enemy automatic rifleman pose a serious threat to my team because he was at an elevated position on a hill overlooking the village and more specifically a corridor through a building that my team had just entered and was trying to pass through to gain entry to courtyard type of area. My team was basically halted and took refuge in that corridor rather than venture outside. And this was all because of how my friendly AI was thinking... All I did was set them in a certain combat mode and give them a move waypoint. If the AI finds it is not safe to move or advance to the waypoint I gave them, they will not do so haphazardly and yes, they will be methodical and slow about it.
  15. all videos uploaded at this point now... for the players who are not new to BIS style of games, i recommend watching combat mode team status formation and just a quick note... This is just about commanding AI in your team, not human players... Although many of these commands can be used to command human players. The best way to command human players is through ingame VOIP or 3rd party program such as teamspeak 3... In teamspeak 3 the use of "channel commander" proves to be useful when trying to simulate a "command net" for commanders of teams.

I learned a few new things myself about the game and the AI when I was making these videos and I have been playing BIS games since OFP lol And please feel free to offer me your feedback so if I make more videos, I can tailor them better to the community.
  18. Its as detailed as I could possibly make it, I wanted to show basic and advanced use of some of these commands... And in some instances actually demonstrate in combat its effectiveness or detriment. I have a few demos in some of the more advanced or combat related commands. Well I hope it helps alot of people out, it took me a long time to make and my HDD is full becasue of all the 3.0 gig fraps clips of everything lol Maybe this could get a sticky too if I can manage to upload and edit everything for everyone to learn how to effectively command AI based on what each command actually does to the AI in your squad. Perhaps in the future an extensive high command system guide?
  19. Something I noticed in my testing, when I had an AI support team grouped together and then leader given a support way point... The leader would be the only unit responding to the support requests and in this case it was a Stryker MEV... The problem was I was requesting ammo truck and other types of units that are not classified as an "ambulance" which the MEV Stryker is. So the requests would go through, but all the time the requested support would not show up and it would be the group leader who would show up all the time, which was the Stryker MEV
  20. The ingame editor has stopped functioning for me, when i double click my logitech g9x mouse the editor does not place objects or groups or anything... I know it is not my mouse because double clicking works fine in the game except the editor... Like for example i am able to double tap my gun just fine but the editor isn't working... I am running latest patch with BAF and OA and Arma 2 combined together using the file dwarden provided in his sticky thread for having Arma2 run with OA... I am perplexed as to why this is happening and I have no ideas how to fix it... I have tried reverting ingame controls to default... and even that didn't work. It happens on any island and even in Arma 2 standalone without OA... Are any of you other logitech g9x users experiencing this? the dialog screen that should pop up when placing units or groups does not for me when i double click my mouse button
  21. by george, that fixed it... I had 4 TrackIR5.exe processes running even though I was not using my trackIR at the time, I shut them all off and now i am able to double click in the editor just fine... everything works fine now
  22. I have the exact same problem... I even reinstalled everything and it still exists...
  23. yeah i reinstalled everything i still have the same problem... yeah I have track IR 4 in the map screen double clicking does not work at all, both in the editor and ingame... like when placing markers ingame on the map... strange, what should I search for exactly? what keyword(s)
