Sweden 2-2 Denmark Italy 2-1 Bulgaria ROFLMAO....you couldn't write that shit if you tried....i was in hysterics when Cassano scored in the last minute and ran joyfully to the touchline expecting to be the hailed as the savior of Italy only to be greated with the news that it was a 2-2 draw in the Sweden - Denmark match....an absolute classic!! The England - Portugal game should be red-hot!!  I reckon Ronaldo is going to rip us apart if we aren't careful.  He and Figo will switch flanks throughout the match and he will skin Scholes, Cole, Beckham and Nevile all day long if they aren't on top of their game.  I can see Scholes diving in and getting another yellow card which means he will miss the semi's if we get there. It will be great to see Ronaldo take the piss out of Beckham, ok, maybe just once . He will run Cole ragged as he did last season and Nevile just hasn't got the pace to keep up with him....he could be a real threat and even our worst nightmare. Our defence wasn't great against Croatia.  Both of their goals could have been prevented if there was someone actually attempting to jump for headers on set pieces. That said, we have played some nice football and Rooney is on fire.  He just doesn't get phazed by his opponent....it's amazing.  When he skinned Zidane with that Cruyff turn i was absolutely gob-smacked....how cheeky was that!! One thing i am not keen on is the way he is being built up.  He is still a kid and i can see the same thing happening to him that has happened to Owen....he was hailed 'The Wonder-kid' by the England and Liverpool faithfull and once defenders knew his game he was reduced to practically nothing.  He would do well to move to Man-U where he will be nurtured properly. Anyhoo, i think if we can keep possesion, get a first-half goal and then not sit back and try to defend the lead we have a great chance of progressing.

Operation Flashpoint: Mission Editing Competition.
B-2-0 replied to Placebo's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
We'll just have to find a way, it's not ideal but it's necessary. There are already 4 MP categories compared to 2 SP, it's just not feasible/practical/fair to add another 2 MP categories, I understand the complaint but that's just going to have be the way it is Fair enough. One other thing....am i correct in thinking that there is a main prize of the VBS1 suite for each category or will there be a single overall winner? I just checked the rules page but it does not make this clear. -

I am a little concerned about the MP non co-op category. How can you judge a CTI against a CTF for example? I realise there can't be too many categories but a seperate one for CTI should be added imo. -
I hope there is going to be a lowrider bicycle/tricycle and/or car released with those G's!!

You guys really think the ref should have pulled Trezeguet for handball??? It was clearly ball to hand, there was nothing he could do about it. To compare it to Maradona's is pure poop imo. The Croats played a good game and as an England fan i am a little more worried than i was at the start of the match to be honest. They showed pace, strength and technical ability. Â To come back from a full on defensive game that they were playing in the first 30 mins to coming a couple of inches from winning takes a lot....fair play to them. This will have given them a great boost in confidence and i wouldn't be suprised to see them come at us full on from the start.
-
Well that is total crap if ever i heard it. The stats for the overall tournament speak for themselves. Also Scholes played possibly the best pass of the match....a 35-40 yard driven crossfield ball to Beckham. The reason that he played a lot of balls backwards is because, once again, he is a central-right midfielder playing on the left. Â It's better to play it backwards than to try and hit balls with your left foot and give it away. Scholes' role in that match was to bring the Swiss right-back infield which allowed Cole to get down the right wing. *Edit* I give up....i smell another Man-U hater picking up whatever he can just to have a go....prolly an Arsenal or Liverpool fan.
-
who hasnt scored for 3 years. 1. A midfielders job isn't just to score goals. 2. Scholes is playing, not only out of position but on the wrong side of the pitch. 3. He is a better all-round player than Hargreaves and Dyer which is why he is picked over them. Dyer is fats but he runs into corners and Hargreaves is not a world-class player imo.
-
Scholes - 42 passes made and 35 complete with an 83% pass completion rate in this game and an 85% passing completion rate in the tournament so far Gerrard has 76%, Beckham has 84% and Lampard has 79% Source - http://www.euro2004.com/tournam....SS.html (Click on individual players names to get their stats) His passing isn't too bad afterall is it?
-
He is a proven goalscorer who's natural position is on the right side of midfield that is being played on the left and he hardly gave the ball away at all in that match.
-
Well our performance wasn't anywhere as good as the result suggests but we did what we had to do. I don't get why you are being so hard on Scholes Kevbaz....he didn't have a great game but who did? Â The majority of his passes were complete and he didn't lose the ball much. Â He played as well as Beckham and Gerrard....and they were playing in their natural positions I agree that Vassell should start over Owen though as he did nothing against France and the same today. The ref was absolutely awfull. Â He gave free-kicks for the slightest thing against both sides (although he picked on the Swiss a little more than he did us). Â The Swiss player didn't deserve to be sent off either. We went for a win and that's what we did....even though we didn't expect to score 3. *Edit* I did find the English fan's rendition of "Are you Scotland in disguise" very amusing
-
He did look promising indeed....i think it was his first full international....he is only 18.
-
I agree. Holland's worse mistake was playing Ruud on his own up front. Once van Hooijdonk came on, the weak German defence was exposed. Ruud's goal was great....what a finish!! For a striker to go all match played out of the game and then to score on his first real chance shows the qualities of a world-class striker.
-
What got me was, Heskey came on and i couldn't actually tell what his role was supposed to be....it was like he was there just to make up the numbers. When he gave the free-kick away there was no need to put a tackle in at all, there were at least 8 white shirts inbetween the ball and the net.
-
How do you come to that conclusion?? The Dutch have an awesome squad.... Van Der Sar Reiziger Stam Davids Kluivert Van Nistelrooy (best striker in the world) Van Der Vaart De Boer Overmaars Seedorf Zenden Cocu ....to name a few. The problem with the Dutch is they have a lot of personal clashes going on within the squad which is affecting their performance as a team....if they can get past that they have the quality to win the tourney. The Germans....hmmmm....well they haven't done so well for the last few years....since we spanked them 5-1 Â Â but one of the golden rules of international football is "Never write off the Germans" I predict 2-1 Holland
-
I think the majority of Merseyside is with you on that one pal.. As a Liverpool fan I couldn't understand how he kept on getting ahead of others..  As I hate to say... Replacing Rooney with Heskey was a big say in the match.. As for Scoles for Hergeraves   Jesus.... Well Rooney & Scholes were having a decent game really....Rooney was after everything and Scholes kept Viera out of the game and pretty pissed off too. What really got me was how tired the players were. The first match of the Euro's. Ok, you don't expect anything special in the first match but players were knackered after 60 mins....not good. We didn't dominate the match, chances were few and realisticly both sides went out with the attitude that a draw would be sufficiant but we definitely controlled the game. I don't agree that France were lucky....a few individuals handed it to them but there was nothing lucky about that free-kick or penalty kick.
-
There was really no need for James to go to ground at Henry's feet as he did imo. If he would have just stood up Henry would have had to do something special to score from that angle and at that speed. Rooney played well, he just doesn't seem to be phazed, even by the world's greatest players....he needs to calm down a little though as i can see him getting sent off in an important match. Ashley Cole had a good game also. He kept Pires well contained. Why Emile Heskey is in the squad is far beyond me. I would have had Andy Cole before him any day.
-
There is nothing lucky about Zinedine Zidan m8. I see the 'Blame Beckham hit-squad' is back out in force :-/ One minute they wanna hang him for being sent off, next he is the dog's nutz and one penalty miss later he is back under the hammer again....typical. I agree it wasn't his best penalty but shit happens. Â You should be blaming Heskey, Gerrard and James before Beckham ffs. No way!! Any real fan will back them all the way!! England went there with a plan not to lose....it's the first game of the group stages and there is no need to do anything spectacular and risk losing the game. Â Even though we didn't have much going forward, our defending was world class....Ledley King did a sterling job of keeping Thiery *world's greatest forward* Henry quiet. We went to do a job and for 90 minutes we stuck to it. Once again we were let down by stupid mistakes by individuals
-
Well, i really hate to say i told you so but.... Absolutely speechless!! *Edit* Now i know how the Bayern Munich players felt in the Europen Cup Final in May 99
-
Just a note on the yellow card issue. The referees always give out cards early in the tourney to stamp their authoritah on things....once you get to the last 8 they seem to ease off a little.
