    Afghanistan map out!

No ill feelings here. I recall reading when the map was first released, it would change... I think it is awesome, so am glad that it will "evolve"... as for the changing towns and terrain... maybee make a mission based on the "Dreamland" 2 parter of the X Files (Ripple in time/space, people and rocks fusing together, etc. )

    Afghanistan map out!

I'm gonna go out on a limb that Nagauls Missions haven't been updated for the latest version of this map? (I just went back through, and read that a town was removed. I d/ld the missions from the most recent link in this thread) I did the arms dealer mission. Was landed in the middle of an open plain, and came under immediate fire from a mob of guys also out in the open. Since there was no city, every one of them was firing on my team. I just flipped the selector to full auto, and began spraying them. Armed, or unarmed, it didn't matter... everyone was a potential threat. In the end, 16 civilians, a dozen baddies, 2 SOAR pilots, and 4 Delta operators lay dead. The battle of the desert field was over. Is there a newer version out or do I have to revert back to the previous version of this map? Thx for any feedback.

    64 bit ?

.09 micron, you are correct. Intel is developing such a chip for the next series of P4s, and AMD is starting to toy with what they can do with it. (Will be there next "line" of chips). Smaller size=better heat characteristics, which is the bottleneck they run into as each set matures. As for 64 bit, I think most are correct in that we won't see it actually used outside of business for some time. As an example, look at Hardware T&L that the Geforce 256 introduced. It was quite some time before ANY game took advantage of that, and even longer before it became "standard". And that was something that could be implemented but "optional" in use (if your card supported it, it's used, if not, then it wasn't) 64 bit programs are something that have to be done to run exclusively on 64bit platforms. Hence, extra dev work for a customer base that will be much smaller in the immediate future than the 32bit crowd. Now, years from now, things will be different. Right now though, the only 64 bit software your likely to see is in business, where massive database servers will enjoy the wider "roadways" given to them.

    Dynamic vietnam missions

Hmm.. I can answer a few of those at least... For Firebases, You use the "Firebase Alpha/Bravo" command under the "Special" command menu and they will set up shop wherever they are at. (To actually move them, you must move them as any other team, into the desired position). To then pick up and relocate, you use the "Firebase Alpha/Bravo Move" command, also under special. This makes them mobile again, and responsive to new waypoints. (Same way the Spec Ops observation posts work) As for independant command initiative? None that I have seen. If you want a coordinated multi directional assault, you have to set up the waypoints yourself. (for each squad.)

    Dynamic vietnam missions

For the veterans of this "mission". (campaign, mod, ummm... not sure what it falls under. Ok, I started playing last night, and am sort of getting the hang of things. The biggest problem I've run into, is getting the choppers to rearm. In the readme that I downloaded for it, it said upon returning to the airfield, helos will automatically repair, refuel, and rearm. Mine do none of the above. (The 3 hueys do, since they return automaticaly). The aircrews 4 & 5 however.... I saw no command to tell them to return to base. So, I gave them manual waypoints near the ammo trucks, and told them to land. They landed, but remained out of ammo, damaged, and low on fuel. I tried playing with their positioning up to the point of my OH 6 landind ON the ammo truck, and then flipping over. So, thus far, I have been buying new choppers each time they return. (This has its obvious problems) Is there a command for them to return to base for refitting, or is there a specific place they must be given a WP, and manual land action at? Thx for any help. Oh, also, how is supply handled? I haven't run into it yet (Between dedicating certain units to defence, and the "active" ones high umm... turn around rate, I haven't really had men run out of ammo. When they do, does the base/mobile ammo trucks stocks replenish throught the game?

    Aircraft carrier

no no no... you're all wrong..... The ship is under the command of Captain Willey A. Wonka. He has tuned the ship to be much like that hallway in his factory (hey, he got a little homesick) where when you walk in, it all looks normal, but by the end, you barely have enough room to crawl. Now if I may make a request.... a minit version (say the size of a "bathtub boat", to operate that little miniature Huey off of. Maybee it will even lead to an entire pigmy armed forces mod!

    Aircraft carrier

actually, size wise, they are pretty close. A Wasp/Tarawa Class (Wasp is an "improved" Tarawa) are, per that site, (don't have my Janes guide nearby... ) 844 feet long. A Nimitz class CVN is 1,092 feet long. So that LHA/LHD is still one big boat!

    Bas mh-47e released!

Excellent work! Being able to make insertions "on the fly" is great! Since you have the scripts done now, will it be possible to implement them with your future choppers? (the insertion/extraction/fast rope) If not, at least we have one that does it, and that is far better than none.

Interested to see what happens. Would be nice if they somehow pull it off (but sounds like animating is impossible.

What ever happen to the ch53

Late in the thread....but.. WRT the Grey/Black choppers, it is actualy a dark Grey color that is used. Same as the F15E Strike Eagle. It uses the same/very similar dark grey coloring for night operations. The reason? An object that is true black, is actually darker than the background in a "Pitch black" night sky. Thus, it will still present a silouhette, whereas a dark grey, blends in much better. (Let alone black stands out even more so when there is any moonlight present.) This stems from extensive research done by the Germans throughout WW2, for their nightfighter program. (their best results came from using a dark grey base, with very dark green lines crossing to form a kind of grid-like pattern. I played paintball with some people at night, and used a set of BDUs with such a pattern. We did some "tests" of spotting each other standing with the different cammo patterns, and this pattern by far, did it's job the best. The person wearing it literally blended into the night, while standing in the open.)
